"Fine. We're comfortable, right Tyler? I'm comfy, he's comfy, you're comfy....but you're not going to be comfortable much longer if you don't start talking." Sarah's tone was idle. "You know what a lovable grouch my partner is on a good day. Today ain't one of his good days. If you don't give us something to work with, Benny, I'm not sure there's going to be much left of you when we leave, and then we won't be able to arrange any more of these charming little get-togethers."
She leveled the informant with a bright jade stare. "So my advice to you? Start talking."

As comfortable as he could be on one of the wooden seats Benny had so ‘wisely’ chosen out of all the available chairs in the coffee shop. But he could understand the snitch’s desire to be out of sight of the window, and wasn’t about to gripe about it, not right now anyway. At the word ‘loveable’, he glanced sidelong, one brow raised, at Sarah; not quite the word he would have used, but it didn’t matter. His height and position alone intimidated Benny, and that was all he needed; the intimidation factor.
When Benny did start talking, it was with that trademark stammer and constant hesitation that he abused so readily, laughing nervously every so often when he thought he’d dropped a particularly witty pun. Chris simply sat, slightly slouched to the side, weight perfectly balanced as he turned his mug on the table or drank from it, maybe even giving the informant the impression that he wasn’t paying attention.

"Uh-huh." Sarah nodded, not looking at Benny as she made notes about his commentary. "That's fascinating, no really I mean it. Okay. In all seriousness, are you absolutely sure about this?"
"I ain't lyin'!"
"Well, that's good to know, since lying to us would be pretty high on a list of the dumbest things you could be doing. We can't exactly protect you if you're not clean with us." She looked at Chris. "So it looks like we have to wait until nightfall...what do we do now?"

Time was marching on. If Forbes put his mind to it he could probably come up with some witty metaphor but his brain was too focused on the act of actual police work, of watching both the Starbucks and the surrounding area to make sure it was all quiet to come up with anything better than ‘marching like a marching thing’. It was his and Ronnie’s job to watch the Sarge’s backs, and Forbes didn’t fancy having to explain to someone that he’d gotten distracted and let something happen to them because he had been busy trying to be word smart. There was plenty of time to do that later and in safer places.
Causally, Forbes turned his head towards his partner, using the movement as an excuse to scan the area behind Ronnie, the space where obviously the other man couldn’t see. It was also his job to watch Ron’s back. “I wonder how many hot cups of coffee they’ve gotten through while we’re sitting out here, alone and caffeine free,” he remarked calmly.

“Lewis will want an update.” Chris had removed his phone from his pocket, but hadn’t flipped it open or started to call anyone yet; he would wait until they were out of the coffeehouse before he did that, out of Benny’s nervous earshot. The informant was looking at him now as if he was expecting the male sergeant to throw the phone at him. “We don’t want to rush. If anyone’s seen Benny-boy come in here, if we move too soon, it’s going to fit together too conveniently.”
Benny looked surprised, realising after a short delay that Chris Tyler was actually considering his safety, which, as shocking as it would be, was genuinely the case. As irritating and snivelling as Benny could be, with his inappropriate and repetitive whining, Chris didn’t want to see the man killed. He was a cop, and he protected those he could, and in this case, that actually included the informant.

Sarah nodded. "Agreed." She considered the matter, thoughtful.
"We can't afford to wait too long, though," she said after a moment. "If what Benny tells us is true -- not that I think you're lying," she added impatiently, seeing the indignant flash in his eyes. "If it's really going to go down the way he says, we need to get Captain into the loop as soon as possible so we can organize ourselves."
Technically, Sarah was the senior partner, having been sergeant longer despite being the younger of the pair. Nevertheless, she did what she so often did, and looked at Chris. "What do you think we should do now?"

Ronald, with his eyes focused sharply on the establishment wherein his superior's sat, didn't bother to turn his head. Much as he disliked Benny, he'd give the little ratfink the benefit of the doubt; the man would have to be damned stupid to try something here, in the open, when the Sarges had back-up with them. Of course, certain of Benny's acquaintances were more dangerous than others, but still. Berks was confident.
"M'sure we can scrounge somethin' on the way back to the precinct," he muttered in response to forbes. "Somethin' of a higher quality than Starbucks."

POST TIMESKIP
Caffeine and sugar were two things that it was probably in everyone’s best interests for Jeremy to not consume at the same time. So naturally, it was a combination he loved. And naturally, it also made Starbucks one of his favorite places. Whenever he managed to get to one he was literally like a kid in a candy store while trying to choose what combination of two of the best substances on the face of the planet to indulge in.
Some might be reluctant to believe that Jeremy’s usual spazziness and ‘unique’ personality came in levels. Generally he operated at about a seven, but lately it had been down somewhere in the area of three or four. Anyone who paid enough attention would have been able to pinpoint the change to right about when the pack’s former Beta female departed. It wasn’t as if he had been as dependent on her as say, Raze, but Jeremy wasn’t exactly the most mature presence around the hotel, and Heidi had certainly been his go to maternal figure when once was needed. So her sudden departure had thrown him off quite a bit. For obvious reasons he wasn’t exactly the person who was taking it the hardest, but it had still upset him a great deal. For a while he’d kept to the Records Room until his stockpile of snacks had run out. Even since then, he’d been a bit mopey and not very interested in doing much besides keeping to himself, or putting in the odd visit to Will.
What passed for him sulking around the Hyperion would still be going on if Jeremy didn’t have a friend like Violet who was not above using the temptation of the almighty frappuicino as a bribery tactic. It was pretty much impossible for him to not make grabby hands when the barista called his name and handed him his order. Popping a straw in, Jeremy sucked in Double Chocolaty Chip frozen coffee goodness so fast it would have given any normal person instant brain freeze.
