His arm was starting to hurt now, even though it had stopped bleeding. It would take a little while for the skin to heal completely. And then there would be no sign. No visible scar or mark of any kind. Just the memory and that was as fleeting as the sun passing into shadow. Trent didn’t slow down or stop or even think of where he was going now. All he cared about was getting away from everything. Even the thought of Calla had faded slightly, dulled by the mental pain and confusion.
A man came out of the shadows in front of him, talking on a mobile phone. He sidestepped the werewolf with hardly a glance in his direction, too caught up in his conversation. Trent stopped running for the first time since he couldn’t remember when, spinning slowly on his heel, watching the human with narrow, suddenly cold eyes.
Trent knew that human. The face haunted his dreams, both while he was sleeping and when he was awake. He turned, all traces of his earlier panic and fleeing gone, and a cold anger in its place. It was the face of his father. He silently followed the man, watching as he turned into a park, somewhere that had little lighting.
Without hesitating, Trent followed.

Calla knew that she never would have been able to keep up such a pace if not for the advantages being a werewolf gave her. She wasn’t sure how long she had been running, but that didn’t matter. What mattered was that she was fairly certain that she was closing in on Trent. She shook hair out of her face as she stopped for a moment, gazing around. She was still on Trent’s trail and knew that he was close. She could practically feel him. Letting her eyes wander around her surroundings, she spotted the park. That’s it. He’s there. I know he is. With that thought, Calla entered.

She pushed off from the ground with her left foot with short, powerful strokes and kept herself balanced on the skateboard with her right foot. A few pedestrians were forced to leap out of her way and Fiona MacDuff only laughed impudently when she heard shouts of, "Fuckin' skate-punk!' being hurled her way. One 'poor' man was actually bumped into, but Fee did make sure to shout a sincere apology back over her shoulder...as she pocketed his wallet.
That'll be dinner for the next few days, hopefully. The brunette smirked and launched herself off the curb, letting the board spin round once beneath her feet before she slammed down on it in a low crouch. And then she was off again, leaving the buzz of the inner city for the less-populated outskirts. Granted, with this full moon out, it was more than light enough for even Fiona to see fairly well. And a full moon meant most of the gang would be more active than usual. Maybe she'd have some fun tonight, after all.

The downtown streets certainly made a change from the alleys he had been lurking in all night. Connor couldn’t help but snigger slightly to himself at the word ‘lurking’. It brought to mind ridiculously broody characters in cheap novels that he had sometimes picked up out of sheer boredom – only to have his brains dribble out of his ears at the way in which they were written. Broody characters in the rain and staring wistfully about, missing their lost love but too broody to actually do anything about it. He shook his head slightly and carried on along the street, taking in the quiet area, the almost peaceful atmosphere about it.
Connor didn’t trust it one inch. Neither did the wolf inside, pawing restlessly at his mind. Peace was an illusion, one that was extremely dangerous because when it did shatter – and it always did – then the consequences could be deadly.
A little way ahead of him he could see another man, wandering aimlessly and his eyes narrowed, sniffing the air discreetly. Wolf… The brown haired man didn’t seem much of a threat and almost without realising what he was doing, Connor picked up his pace slightly, part of him wanting the company, even if it was just to give the wolf a greeting.

Connor rolled his eyes at the other wolf’s actions, mentally cataloguing him as being younger than himself. Or at least less experienced. Shaking his head he picked up his pace again, smoothly bending down as he reached the homeless man who was already greedily opening the duffle bad and grabbed it back off him, temporarily ignoring its real owner. The wolf reached into his pocket and pulled out the rapidly decreasing wad of bills – at this rate he was going to be pushed to even buy his globe and if that happened, Connor would not be a pleased wolf – and counted out a few, dropping them into the man’s lap.
“It’s really not safe to do things like that,” Connor observed in his strong Irish accent, tossing the bag back to the other werewolf along with a light grin. “They think you’re a tourist and they will bleed you dry.” He stepped away from the homeless man, face wrinkling in disgust. “Unless you don’t like your stuff in which case selling it will give you money. Which I hear is good this time of year.”

“Connor O’Malley,” Connor replied, a faint grin twitching on his face at the other werewolf’s reaction. It was refreshing to see such… enthusiasm. “The trick is to look like you know where you are going,” he offered helpfully, gently steering Reese away from the homeless man. “Doesn’t matter if you don’t have a clue in reality, so long as you act as if you have a permanent destination in mind, then people tag you as a native and tend to leave you alone.”
Connor had to admit, it was refreshing also to speak to another wolf without the constant wondering if this conversation would be the one to lead him to his brother. Wondering if the person he was talking too would hold the key to finally finishing his puzzle. From Reese’s actions he clearly was new in town and so would know nothing about Dylan. Still, Connor couldn’t help but ask a question once they were a few paces away from the human. “So what brings you here?”

Connor had to admit, the sheer enthusiasm was certainly… different. The problem with rogue werewolves was they tended to be… jaded. Especially it seemed, those he had run into in LA, although Connor suspected that also had something to do with the city itself. To meet another wolf that seemed so fresh despite clearly being a decent age – he could control the change after all – was unusual.
“Have you been in any pack before?” He asked cautiously. Connor had a low opinion of pack life, even though he knew his own views were very heavily influenced by his own life. “They tend to not like you wandering doing the moons for example.” Connor breathed deeply, taking in the crisp night air with clear enjoyment.

Connor’s eyebrow drifted up at the question and the way it was worded. He didn’t trust the peace and quiet and he wasn’t completely sure he trusted the wolf in front of him. Experience had taught him to be wary of new people and situations, especially when the new person seemed so innocent looking. People – and werewolves most of all – were rarely what they appeared to be at first glance. The simple existence of werewolves and other things that go bump in the night proved that appearances could be deceptive.
“Sure I know a park…” Connor said slowly, unconsciously resting his hand nearer his gun even though his body remained relaxed. The fighter wasn’t even aware of himself doing it, so used to expecting everything to be full of danger or a trap. “There’s one about two blocks over, gets locked at night, to try and stop the human drug users and homeless getting in.”

Connor was more than willing to admit on occasion he had gotten things wrong when it came to other people and their expectations and aims. He had quickly found however that by thinking everything was a trap was the main reason why he was still alive. Even with his hand at his gun, the fighter had noted that Reese seemed unaware of his action as if he hadn’t had any experience with people and where they kept guns.
He swept cool, apprising blue eyes over Reese as he bounced on his heels, taking in the words and finally relaxing ever so slightly, hand falling away from the gun although he kept it close by just in case. “Since I’m the only one here who knows where it is…” Connor shook his head, a small smile twitching at his lips as he moved forward, attention evenly split between the route in front of him, any possible danger and the other werewolf.

Continued from; Apartment Complex: Building A: Niles' Apartment
Niles walked at a brusque pace in order to keep Rose happy as she scampered along the paths on their usual path around the area. The only time the puppy has stopped was at a set of traffic lights, as she was trained to do quite early on; Niles most certainly did not want his beloved companion to come to any harm because of her eagerness to keep on the move and the fact that he had neglected to train her properly. Having a puppy was all well and good but even he realised that it was a lot of responsibility. Still, it was worth it having company in his lonely little flat and it was nice to have someone around with boundless amounts of unconditional love to give.
Now, Niles was no stranger to werewolves, having grown up with his parents' guidance he knew how to spot one and all that but he had yet to properly meet one in this city. Most of the time he was out of town and when he was in town he'd take Rose on walks when there would be the least amount of crowds and traffic, mostly because he didn't really want Rose being stood on or getting in someone else's way. He didn't suppose there was very much chance for him to just bump into a wolf in a city as large as this, although there had been times when he was out where he thought he'd caught the scent of one. It wasn't something that particularly upset him as he wasn't exactly doing his utmost to find others of his kind just yet; if it happened it happened, and would be awesome, but he wasn't quite ready to start that quest off his own back.
He stopped for a moment as a passing child had leant down to pat Rose on the head and Rose had lavished the attention. It was only when the mother prised her child away that he was able to continue with the walk, being led around the corner by the still relentlessly energetic puppy.
Niles suddenly caught the scent of another wolf nearby, like he had done time and time before, except this time it was much stronger. When Rose tugged at the leash he realised with a start that he'd stopped in the middle of the street and, furrowing his brow, he shook his head a little and got on his way again. He was curious, but not curious enough to want to investigate anything so he tried to push the thought to the back of his mind as he continued.

Niles was always very careful with his belongings, especially his wallet, when he was out and about walking Rose; he knew that the city was home to some shady characters or people who had been given no choice other than to rifle through pockets and handbags for some carelessly unguarded money to fund a meal or other unscrupulous activities. Obviously he didn't have a problem with people nicking his handbags but his wallet was usually home to a fair amount of money and it would kind of suck to lose it, but that wasn't why he was careful. The last time someone tried to pick his pocket he had been caught so off guard that he'd momentarily forgotten that he was much stronger than the person trying to subtly rifle through his pockets, and had very nearly broken the pickpocketer's arm. Thankfully it turned out to be a sprain, but yeah, enhanced strength, gotta remember that.
Rose bounded along the street, leading her owner onwards excitedly, sniffing the odd passerby with fleeting curiosity before trotting onwards. There weren't many people out, which thankfully meant he didn't have to negotiate with the crowds; it was always easier for a puppy to dart around people than for a fully grown man to follow. More than once he'd had some dirty looks when he accidentally bumped into someone whilst trying to follow Rose's path and quite obviously failing. That was another reason why he liked to walk her places where there wouldn't be too many people around.
Suddenly the small puppy stopped and turned back towards him, jumping up on his legs playfully. Smiling, he leant down to scratch her lightly behind the ear when something caught his attention. Or rather, someone, namely a kid on a skateboard who was heading straight towards him. Niles was ready to jump out of the way with Rose but there was no need, as the kid suddenly veered off and, unfortunately for him, straight into a brick wall.
Niles winced as he watched the scene unfold. It was astounding how fate sometimes decided to poke you in the face to see if you're paying attention; if he was to trust his senses this was another wolf, like himself.
The nameless person pushed himself up and Rose immediately bounded over and began to lick the his knuckles as he glanced around a little. Niles assumed he was looking for his skateboard, which was rolling behind him and towards the road. Quickly stopping it from rolling any further he picked it up before standing beside the fallen person, offering his hand out to help him stand. "You alright? That was quite a fall."

Breaking the thief's arm was never his intention, of course. When he didn't have a game controller in his hands he was actually quite a passive guy who'd have been happy to just get his wallet back in one piece, but clearly he needed to be more careful since humans tended to be a little... fragile. In comparison anyway. Still, the situation had taught him to be more alert when out and about, especially if it was crowded at all; he tried to keep his money in inside pockets or jeans pockets that would be harder to reach into without it being overly noticeable.
He grinned as he helped the stranger to his feet, feeling surprisingly okay for this being his first proper meeting with another werewolf. Something struck Niles as a little odd about this character, though, not least the fact that he had actually barrelled into the wall instead of taking advantage of his balance to manoeuvre around the obstacle. Niles would never say this to him - for fear of damaging egos - but for a fleeting moment the scene had reminded him of the old Loony Tunes cartoons with the Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote, and suppressed the urge to chuckle a little. Laughing at someone who had just head butted a wall might not be the best first impression one could give.
Still, it was a good thing he hadn't managed to injure himself. "Good to hear," he replied, still holding the skateboard which, for the moment, went forgotten as Rose was making a right nuisance of herself; clearly as this person was capable of talking to Niles he was more than capable of giving her a little attention! Rose bounced around the as yet nameless man's legs, playfully pawing at his trousers and yipping every so often. Niles rolled his eyes. "Sorry," he said, on her behalf, what with her being a puppy and, y'know, not able to talk for herself - though he wasn't entirely sure she would apologise even if she could. "Rose seems to have taken a liking to you."

Although thankfully he wasn't on the receiving end of foul tempers too much the few times he had been had made it all too clear that city people tended to be a little more on the short-tempered and cranky side; apparently some people loathed cute puppies being all... cute and puppy-ish. He tried not to let it get to him much, offering a cheerful apology to the other person before going on his way, ignoring the offensive muttering that he caught in passing. It never seemed like he was meant to hear it, but his rather sharp hearing meant that he couldn't really miss it. It bewildered Niles how people could get so wound up over the smallest things, thanking the stars that he was more of a relaxed, laid back kind of guy.
But back to the matter at hand. Niles grinned as the stranger replied and then knelt down to play with Rose, who was quite happy to lap up the attention that was suddenly being lavished upon her. He seemed comfortable enough with the puppy but the glances and fidgeting told Niles that he was more than a little wary of her owner. He had no idea why the guy was so tense but he figured that tact and diplomacy was probably the way to go since he looked ready to bolt at any second.
Then, he suddenly remembered the skateboard and held it out a little for him. "Sorry, here's your skateboard," he said, apologetically. "Also, thanks for avoiding us. Or, well, thanks for avoiding Rose." He looked down at her and, for the first time, wondered what he'd do if something had actually happened to her. Of course there'd be one day where he'd have to say goodbye to her, but he'd not actually thought about that yet, mainly because he didn't think he needed to. When he was sure Rose had his full attention he gave him a quick onceover, noting that he looked quite painfully thin, like he hadn't had a decent meal in far too long. Niles didn't need to think too long on his next move, mainly because he wanted to thank the kid anyway.
"Hey, listen," he added, somewhat tentatively, "we were gonna go to this café nearby, we go there cause they actually let me take Rose in. You're welcome to join us if you like, my shout. They do a mean cheeseburger there." He glanced back at Rose who was now gnawing on and pulling at the hem of the other person's trousers. "'Sides, looks like Rose isn't ready to let a keen source of attention escape her just yet."
