Continued from The Break Room with Chris, Flynn, and Miles
Sarah pulled on her sunglasses as they exited the station into the bright sunlight. "Where did you say we should go?" she asked Miles. "Long Wong's? I'm game as long as they've got good sesame chicken."

Opening the passenger door on the unmarked police car she and Chris normally shared, Sarah feigned complete obliviousness to the way Miles watched her. It was very difficult to tell if he was genuinely expressing interest or if he was just being, well, Miles. Not a bad-looking man, she had to admit, although if she were to ever go out with him, Chris might have a coronary. Not that it wouldn't amuse her to see the look on his face at such a piece of news...still, it was unlikely. It was enough, however, to entertain her for the moment.
"Sounds good to me. C'mon, I'm all set to eat Tyler out of house and home. What do you guys think you'll have?" She sat down, swung her legs into the car and shut the door.

"Mm, that sounds pretty good. Sometimes I pick up about four or five main dishes and eat whatever I please for about a week. Sweet and sour chicken is good stuff." Sarah flipped down the visor and pulled on her seat belt. "Buckle up," she advised the two in the back. "I sort of lied when I said Chris's driving isn't that bad." She grinned at the mock glare her partner offered.
They pulled out of the lot and headed toward Long Wong's. "At least the traffic's not so bad, this time of day," the redhead offered.

"And that would be different from any other possibility, how?" Chris remarked in return, turning them away from the station and onto the busy streets of LA before Miles could so much as defend his position.
It wouldn't take them long to get to where they were going. After all, Chris knew where all of the Chinese restaurants in the city were, really; it was no secret in the partnership that it was his favourite, followed closely by Italian.
Flynn was quiet in the back seat, but that was no different to how Chris usually saw the technician, so he simply let the younger man keep to himself, if he so chose. He wasn't about to bully anyone into joining a - possibly immature - conversation if they didn't want to.

Continued from: Long Wong’s with Sarah, Flynn and Miles.
Pulling back into the lot beside the station, Chris turned off the ignition and stepped out of the car, glancing skyward for a moment, and squinting in the sunlight. It was a typical Los Angeles day, and one that reminded Chris of just how much better off he was, weather-wise, when compared to New York. Not that New York didn’t have its warmth on its good days, but the winters could be hazardous to one’s health… literally.
“No rest for the wicked,” he quipped lazily as the others stepped out of the vehicle. He happened to glance in Miles’ direction on the word ‘wicked’, giving a little smirk. He half-wished he could be around when the detective’s boss got around to reprimanding him for missing meetings.

Flynn got out of the car and stretched slightly. He would be heading straight to Homicide to deal with whatever insanity might have occurred in his absence from the station. To be quite honest, it was always hard to know when the guys in Homicide where involved. They were the notorious coffee spillers, after all.

"Well, boys, glad you all enjoyed yourselves. So long as you promise there won't be bloodshed, we'll have to do this again." Sarah exited the vehicle and stretched lazily, not really looking forward to going back in and chaining herself to her desk again. Then again, boredom meant that things were quiet, and that was, after all, what they worked to ensure.

Chris' hands found his pockets as the group stood around the now-locked car, contemplating their various continuations of the day, whatever those might be. Miles would go get an earful from his boss, Flynn would fix a computer in whatever department was sending him messages, and Chris and Sarah would head back to Narcotics...
There was nothing for them to actually do up in the offices, since they had overcome the paperwork, but Chris trusted in their combined resourcefulness. He was pretty sure, at the very least, that he had a ball somewhere in his desk, which would battle boredom for a little while... so long as he didn't break anything by throwing it.

"Might as well head upstairs ourselves," Sarah told Chris. "At least the day is nearly over." Their shift ended at three, and it was already close to one.
"We'll see you later, Flynn -- like Miles said, don't be a stranger." The sergeants said their goodbyes to their quiet friend before making for the stairwell.

Flynn had simply shaken his head at the comment Miles made about breaking his computer and had given a wave as the other three went on ahead. He moved slowly after them towards the doors, wondering what was awaiting him in Homicide.

Continued from Long Wong's
The brakes on the Jeep gave an almighty creak as Katherine parked the best in a space. She sat in the silence that the stillness of the engine provided and collected her thoughts. Gregory lived not that far away from her apartment building, it wasn't that unusual for them to run into one another but today.... today she couldn't face an argument. As she had mentioned to her brother over the phone she had worked a double homicide downtown earlier that day and that was quite enough in the emotional stakes for her for one day. Greg had never understood her or her job. Not really.
She knew if she argued with him today she'd snap.
Katherine retied her hair into its messy arrangement and then grabbed the paper bag of food before she exited her vehicle. Seeing her brother would cheer her up, it always did. Sure he might be pissed at her for showing up but she didn't give a rats ass. She locked the Jeep and pounded her way down the familiar path towards the Homicide Division.

The green 1969 Buick Riviera turned neatly into the station parking lot, Richie scanning the area for an empty space. Preferably next to cars that looked as if their owners took care over them. The better kept the car, the better the chance that the owners wouldn’t damage his car while getting to their own. He refused to park next to a car covered in marks and dirt. Anyone who owned that type of car clearly wouldn’t take much care in opening a door and could hit the side of his. He parked the car and killed the engine, attention fully on his actions of the moment.
Richie opened the car door carefully and stepped out. He took a deep breath, hoping he looked better than he felt. The detective was normally good at hiding his true feelings – he’d passed the psych examination with flying colours after all, and after a final deep breath he locked his baby, heading inside. Showtime.

Fortunately, Ron managed to get to his parking spot in a timely manner without getting pulled over. That would have been embarassing. He slammed into the spot and leapt from the car, just barely remembering to grab the keys for the ignition.
"Damn, damn, damn," he swore as he rushed into the building.

Continued from: Apartment Complex; Parking Garage with Mike
Normally, Mike drove like a regular human being. A regular human being who was more than a little obsessed about the state of his car and would sometimes take the long way round to work to avoid any chance of getting any type of mark on it, should there be road works or some other type of danger on the road.
But then normally, they weren’t this late and today the other man seemed to have thrown caution – as well as sanity and fashion sense – to the wind in a bid to get them to work as quickly as possible. Halfway through the drive Tony had decided to grip the doorframe tightly as though scared for his life, silently making a point about the driving. He let out a soft breath of relief as the Station came into view, meaning he was going to get out of the car and soon. It wasn’t just the speed – it was the car in general and even with windows down he still couldn’t help but feel slightly uncomfortable about being in a box with wheels.

Mike's car screeched into the parking space, barely coming to a stop before hitting another car. He hated it when he had to drive like that, but late was late and required desperate measures to get them to work before they ended up too late. He took off his seatbelt and shoved his door open, leaving the engine running since he wouldn't be able to roll up the windows otherwise and checked his watch. "Just a few minutes late. We can blame it on traffic if anyone asks."
It wouldn't be the first time Mike had blamed traffic for making him late to work, though ninety-nine percent of the time when he said it was traffic, it really was. Traffic in LA was notoriously bad, so no one would think twice about them saying they had gotten caught up in a little traffic. It especially worked well since Ron was in a completely different division.
