Just seeing Min-ho’s reaction to the name Final Fantasy Eight was almost enough reason to bring it up in casual conversation and one of these days he was going to remember to bring along a camera or get someone else to take a photo of the hissing face and cross, if only for prosperities sake. He’d never been overly traumatized by the game, mostly because he hadn’t invested so much emotion in it and the Final Fantasy series as Min apparently had. The Zelda games on the other hand, well, Steven was just glad that Link wasn’t anywhere near that emo. He might be stupid at times, lazy at others – really, starting pretty much every game with the hero sleeping was not the best message to be sending across – but at least he never stood in the rain and cried about wounds that wouldn’t heal.
“The cake just wants you to think that it has honestly,” Steven grumbled lightly, accepting the controller. For a moment or two he held it with the distaste that all X-Box products deserved before sighing lightly and holding it correctly, knowing he would have to put aside his so called hatred if he wanted to win at the game. “If the cake is truthful how come there isn’t any here? Because it’s a lie, and it’s tricking us, that’s why.”

Min snorted, eyes briefly fixed on the screen in front of them both as the console titles rolled and she thumbed through them, while waiting she looked at Steven with a lopsided, sarcastic twist to her mouth, "I'd love to hear you say that to Heidi, she'd take offence and you know it, there's no denying that her cake doesn't lie. Ergo, not all cake is a lie. Your theory is flawed."
As for Final Fantasy, Min-ho invested far too many emotions in the game, it was true, and number eight had been such a let down on so many fronts she couldn't in good conscience just let it go. It should have been awesome, it should have followed it's predecessors of six and seven and been fantastic, but no. It had fallen flat on it's face. It was a damn shame and one that still got her sighing through her teeth and shaking her head as if to say, 'damn shame'. When it came to her expression on the subject though, Min-ho was pretty good at dodging cameras...

“I said ‘The Cake’ not a cake,” Steven replied, the unspoken air quotes hanging heavily in the conversation despite the lack of the finger motion; the capital letters before each words was clearly visible as well, Steven feeling as thought it deserved them. “Heidi’s cake is not The Cake unless she’s been holding out in me, in which case we shall have to have a talk about working with the enemy instead of siding with her fellow Beta and delivering delicious cake.” He shook his head and made a sad sound, clearly imagining the whole thing.
He watched as the options were adeptly scrolled though by Min, confident that if he actually put his mind to it, he would capture her expression on film for all time. It was simply a matter of stalking your subject and using all the enhanced skills you had, knowing that the other person would be doing the same. “By the end of this game you’ll be having delicious, lies filled cake…” Steven half joked and half warned. He’d never been very good at ‘trash’ talking and honestly, never wanted to but the whole thing seemed to call for some kind of death threat.

For a moment, when Caleb had knocked on the door and gingerly pushed it open to peer into the room, the sight that awaiting him had been different. So different in fact that for a moment the young werewolf had wondered if he had somehow managed to slip off into yet another one of his strange little daydreams but no, there was the male Beta laughing and at the same time cringing at whatever was going on in the screen, the young werewolf not really understanding computer games. It was rare enough for any of the leaders to look as relaxed and childish as Steven did right now and Caleb couldn’t help but feel a brief pang of regret that he was the one who was about to change that, despite knowing full well that Steven would want – and need – to know.
Steven looked up from the game as Caleb stuck his head inside, carefree expression slipping off his face, to be replaced by the intent Beta as the male began to repeat what he had been told by Cole, the phone call from Marion and the decision for the group to head out of the hotel. Silently he stood, placing the control on the bed. With both Alpha’s gone and a proportion of the fighters with them, it wasn’t the time to be playing games with Min-ho. Not that Steven was expecting any kind of attack, but it was better to be safe and to give the hotel a walk through, in case any members of the pack were ruffled by the activity going on.
He froze, a few feet away from the exit and the male wolf, faint frown on his face as he stared past Caleb, no longer actively listening to the story, every sense straining instead to catch the faint traces of sound beyond, the sounds that were so alien and so frightening. It came again, the distant sound of something breaking and after that a cry; Keegan.
Steven’s body worked independently of his mind, the Beta already in motion and running before his brain had finished working out who was calling for help.
