"Wash?" Gemma managed a smile that almost bordered on impish. Carefully, she extracted Wash from Marco's grip and cradled him in the crook of her arm. "I wouldn't trust this one out in public -- I can drop him off on our way out."
And then she remembered her manners; this man had 'rescued' Wash and she didn't even know his name. "Oh god, I'm sorry," she stammered, blushing once again while she offered her free hand. "You help me out and I don't have the sense enough to tell you my name. I'm Gemma."

Finishing off the introductions without being prompted, he said to Lorenzo — since Gemma already knew him — calmly, “And I’m Marco.” He half-turned back to his door, tossing the towel back inside, not particularly caring where it landed. He would have offered the other wolf a hand to shake if he thought Lorenzo wouldn’t jump back in alarm… he was certainly a skittish character.
“Okay. I trust we have a destination in mind.” Los Angeles had its fair share of pizzerias after all, but then again, since Gemma had made the suggestion, he assumed she knew exactly where to lead them. They were in her capable hands now it seemed.

The young woman's smile was bright, but nonetheless timid. She cradled Washburne a little tighter, idly scratching the kitten behind his ears while she tried to keep hold of the calm she felt radiating from Marco. Anything to keep her from going back to her usual, introverted self.
"Well...there's Giovanni's," she suggested. "It's only about a block down." Looking to Lorenzo, she smiled again and carefully pushed her glasses farther up the bridge of her nose. "And if you're not much for pizza, Mrs. Giovanni makes really great ziti."

“Sounds like a plan.”
Marco’s wolf shifted, giving a little snort. It didn’t really like the way Lorenzo seemed so intimidated, and without reason. He didn’t want to do the other wolf any harm, but no matter how he tried to transfer that, the animal inside was annoyed by the lack of progress. Telling it to have patience, he glanced to Gemma, and the kitten.
“Shall we head to your apartment? I’m sure Washburne has something he needs to terrorise while we’re gone.”

"Undoubtedly," Gemma returned. "I just hope my place'll be in one piece when I get back."
She smiled again, shyly, and then motioned for her two companions to follow. Wash didn't seem to mind being left to his own devices and was easily distracted by a ball of yarn. When Gemma had shut and locked the door behind her, she turned to Marco and Lorenzo and found the calm of the larger man.
But now there was something else; a bitter something. The sour emotion settled in the pit of Gemma's stomach and made her feel queasy for a moment. Was Marco annoyed with her? Nervous again, the librarian swallowed reflexively and her voice faltered before she managed to stammer out, "Well, shall we be off?"

Calm down. It’s obviously not his fault. Marco wasn’t sure whether his ‘commands’ would fall on deaf ears, but even with a simple thought, the wolf seemed to settle… if only a little.
With Washburne now securely back in Gemma’s apartment, it seemed they had nothing holding them back from leaving. The tallest member of the — perhaps odd — party of the three looked to his two companions. He’d heard of the place Gemma had suggested, but he’d never actually been there to eat before, so with a gentlemanly gesture with his hand, he gave her the signal to lead the way.

She smiled at both men, feeling her face go pink and cursing herself for it. There was no need to be so timid and she knew it. She just couldn't help it.
"Well," the librarian murmured with a shy laugh. With her purse tucked under one arm, she motioned for her two companions to follow her. "I think you'll both like the place..."
