Lynnette didn’t mind ‘sappy’. She was discovering she actually rather liked it, when faced with it in real-life. She doubted anything could change her view of it in movies, of course, but when confronted with it from someone like Nick, she had to admit she enjoyed it. The kiss made her smile briefly, and she nodded in confirmation of his announcement about work. “Well, you know how to get hold of me if you catch a break at work, or… whatever.” She laughed softly.
To say that she was looking forward to him getting back from work would have been an understatement, but since she felt that such things probably went without saying, she kept them internal, and settled for giving Nick another smile, encouraging and affectionate.

Nick gave a smile. “I definitely do and if I end up take a break, don’t be surprised if you get a call.” At least talking to her at some point during the work day would help him get through it easier. Seeing her would most certainly be better, but he knew that talking to her over the phone was the next best thing. It would either make the day seem to go a bit faster or make it seem to drag because he knew that he still had to finish up at the paper before he could see her again. Either would be worth it to talk to Lynnette for even a few minutes.
He was still stalling going to work despite knowing that he really needed to get a move on. Nick hated the thought of having to leave, despite knowing that the sooner he got there, the better. After all, getting home from work was what he was looking forward to and he couldn’t do that until he actually left.

Lynnette’s laugh was soft. “Then I won’t let my phone out of my sight. Or earshot, I should say.” She smiled, a little sheepishly, hoping she wasn’t acting ]too much like a lovesick puppy, or however that phrase went. The she-wolf didn’t particularly care; who was going to see? Though she had noticed two other people — werewolves, by their faint, drifting scent — in the garage when she and Nick had entered, they weren’t intruding or paying them any heed; she preferred it that way.
“Well.” There wasn’t much else to be said, or to do. As reluctant as she was to cut their time short, she really didn’t want to make him any later than he already was. There was always the chance that his boss would make him stay later than planned if he delayed any longer, and really, she didn’t want to risk that, as clingy as it made her feel, and sound.

Nick gave a soft smile. He wasn’t at all concerned with the other two wolves so long as they didn’t bother them. “That sounds like the perfect plan to me. I’m probably going to need to talk to you in order to keep my sanity.” He didn’t know what the day was going to be like since he would know that he had Lynnette to come home to, but he didn’t doubt that the time would just drag. With any luck, talking to her on his break would help him get through the rest of the day.
Ducking his head, he kissed her again before reluctantly sifting through his keys and coming up with the one for his car. “I guess I really should head off and hope that the boss is so impressed that I didn’t keep nagging for the day off that he’ll decide to give me a light load so I can get out of there nice and early.”

A soft laugh rippled out of her, and she looked down at the toes of her boots for a moment, to banish the blush that had swept to her cheeks yet again. Nick seemed to have a gift for that; she had half a mind to tell him to add it to his list of ‘abilities’, but she feared that might come out wrong, or sound far more silly out loud than it did in her head. It wouldn’t have been much of a stretch.
“I’m sure he will. You’re so good at so many other things, I don’t doubt you’ll be able to wow him somehow.” Oh god, she had said it. Her hand went to her mouth, swept up through her hair, and she laughed at herself. “I’m sorry. That sounded… really strange. It didn’t… in my head.”

Nick gave a soft chuckle and kissed her cheek. “I appreciate the confidence, even if it came out sounding strange to you. Which, by the way, it didn’t to me, just in case you’re wondering.” He had always prided himself in only ever really needing his own confidence (and his various bosses’) in himself, but he was finding that that was no longer the case. It was for the most part, but now he needed Lynnette’s confidence in him. He needed hers more than anyone’s, he thought, and that was yet another new feeling for him.
After a moment, he gave a heavy sigh. “As much as I really, really don’t want to do this, I had better get going. The boss won’t be happy if I turn up later rather than sooner.” He kissed her again. “I’ll talk to you when I manage to sneak in a break and I’ll see you later. Then we’ll eat and get all of your stuff into the apartment.”

“Oh, well, that’s reassuring.” And it was. She didn’t want to make Nick think she was crazy after she had managed to win his affections, not that she had set out to do such a thing in the first place. It had just… happened. It was one of those things that Lynnette had always thought was never meant for her; ‘destiny’ or ‘fate’, or something else she had always told herself she didn’t believe in. Now, she wasn’t sure.
After kissing him back, she gave a nod, setting her hands around her waist, though she quickly realised that looked a little too needy and set them at her hips in some semblance of independence and defiance. She even smiled. She would be able to survive a few hours without Nick, surely. “Sounds like a good plan to me.” Lynnette took a definite step back, to make his departure easier, so he could get in his car and back out of his space without having to put distance between them himself. “Try to have a good day.”

“I’ll do my best,” he told her before giving a wink. “Try and resist the urge to toss my clothes in the floor while making room for yours, okay?” He knew that she wouldn’t do that, just as the wink had signaled. “Oh, and no completely clearing out the stuff in the bathroom to make room for girly stuff.” He shot her a good natured grin and started around to the driver’s side of the car, pulling open the door when he reached it.
Putting the joking aside, he said, “Don’t forget to take the check to the landlord and to leave your phone on. I’ll try to get information on any dancing related jobs that’re available before I call so I can give you all the details about them when I talk to you. Then you can get a jump on them if there’s anything that sounds interesting. And remember, if you can’t get all of your stuff moved in before I get back- or if you just don’t feel like messing with it- don’t worry about it. I’ll be more than happy to help once I get back from work.” He offered her another smile before getting into the car and shutting the door, immediately starting up the car and rolling the windows down, leaning over so that he could look at her through the passenger window. “I know that I’m not going to be gone too long, but I’ll miss you.” He really hoped that hadn't sounded pathetic.

Lynnette’s laugh was short but by no means false. “I’ll do my very best,” she told him, expression showing feigned seriousness. She even gave a sharp nod of her head as playful confirmation of the comment. She would by no means be tossing any clothes on the floor. If she got bored enough, she might reorganise the closet a little, but she wouldn’t be interfering that much. And as for the girly stuff, she actually didn’t keep too much of that stuff, surprisingly, especially given her occupation.
Nodding at Nick’s words, with all the things he told her, she confirmed with little mutterings of ‘right’ and ‘okay’, and pleasant smiles, to show him she was paying attention and taking everything in. After he got into the car and rolled down the window, she moved forward, to lean down and grant him one last kiss before he had to leave, telling him, “I’ll miss you too. Don’t work too hard.” She winked at him, and then stepped back from the BMW once again.

He made a mental note to stop with the lists. Nick often did that to himself- verbally reminding himself of everything that needed to be done because it helped him make sure that he made sure that he gave himself enough time to get everything done- but he really had to remember not to do that to Lynnette again. He knew that it had the tendency to annoy some and he didn’t want to get to the point where he annoyed her with anything.
“Work too hard? Me? I don’t think I even know what that means.” He offered her a grin. “I’ll get home as soon as I can.” With that, he sat up, checked to make sure that he had enough distance between the car and Lynnette to pull out safely and did so, offering her a quick wave before angling the car in the direction of the street. He knew that if he didn’t leave right then, he would happily end up passing the entire morning sitting right there talking to her and that, unfortunately, wasn’t an option this morning.

Watching Nick go, Lynnette had offered him a little wave in return. She found herself watching the silver BMW head through the garage towards the glow of light from the exit ramp, and remained in place until it was out of sight, even going so far as to roll her eyes at herself. “Wow… smitten much?” she mumbled under her breath, glancing discreetly off towards the two strange male rogues, ensuring they hadn’t heard her or been eavesdropping on the conversation she and Nick had been sharing.
So now you’re paranoid? It’s not like you have anything to hide, is it? After a beat, she composed herself. Exactly. Let them think whatever they want. Hell, for all you know, they’re a couple or something. Lynnette smiled at herself, shaking her head, before she decided getting out of the garage would be a good idea.
She had a cheque to deliver after all.

Oh Hell, No. Nobody but nobody drove Connor’s bike except for him. It was a no, a no of massive proportions – Reese should count himself lucky that he was being allowed to even touch the motorcycle, and be allowed to ride it. If the younger wolf hadn’t been still getting over being stabbed or the fact Connor knew he might have to make a quick getaway from the pack’s main building should things go bad, he would have insisted they walk.
“I don’t think so Sparky. How ‘bout you leave the driving to someone who knows how to do it well?” Connor gave Reese half a smile, left side of his mouth quirking up higher than his right. He could sense the other two wolves in the area leaving and after a moment of waiting to give them some distance he climbed onto the bike, after motioning for Reese to move back. The male wolf pressed his foot down on the accelerator, and the two were off.

She bounced off the motorcycle when it was steady enough to do so, reaching up to make sure her twin ponytails were still in place, tightening each band that fastened her hair. The trapped hair tugged against her skull as she subtly rearranged her style, the pulling hurting more than it should. One of the many things that now hurt more than it did. As she pulled her hand away from her head, a large collection of her hair followed and with a grimace she dropped them to the ground, feeling as if she was malting.
“Sure,” Blu replied, pulling out the keys again. “Hard to use his key to break in if I didn’t.” She flashed a friendly smile at Miles as she spoke, trying to mask her concern about her friend. There was a list in her head, of impossible things – Flynn missing a day of work being one of them – and while normally she loved seeing the impossible become possible, this was an exception.

CONTINUED FROM: Main Streets with Lynnette
By the time they arrived in the parking garage to retrieve his car, Nick’s stomach was rumbling so loudly that he was surprised he hadn’t gotten any odd looks on the walk over. Lynnette, he knew, would be able to hear its complaints perfectly and, if she was still in the mood to tease him- and why wouldn’t she be?- she would probably have something to say about it. Lynnette got away with so much more than he had ever let anyone else. He certainly wouldn’t tolerate anyone else teasing him as much as she did, but from her it was playful, just as it was when he teased her and that, he felt, made all the difference.
As they reached the car, Nick released Lynnette’s hand in order to unlock the door and pull it open for her. He knew that she could do that herself, but he was sticking her with the bag of food and, besides, he didn’t believe that chivalry was dead, something that she knew perfectly well by then. He didn’t know if it annoyed her or not, the way he fell back into such ways, but he knew that she’d let him know in one way or another if it started to.
“You want to call a truce until we get there?” he asked. “At least while I’m trying to get us there without making someone a grease spot?”

The smell of the food wasn't helping with the growling of her own stomach and when Nick offered her both bags the wolf inside of her was tempted to start eating in earnest. It was the knowledge always at the front of her mind that Nick was her mate and equal in all things that stopped her, the temptation dying and fading just as quickly as it had formed and risen in the first place. She offered him a teasing sort of smile when the door was opened, almost as though she were thinking of poking fun at him when in reality she would never dream of doing such a thing.
Chivalry had never really existed in her birth pack, females had been used and abused as the males saw fit, those like Lynnette and her mother had been little more than breeders, a means to an end, so when Nick had first held a door open for her and pushed her chair in for her at dinner she had felt a swell of something powerful and heavy in her chest and her stomach. At first she had almost shied away from it before coming to the realisation, bright and brilliant, that it was nothing bad at all but something good. Something very, very good. Nick cared about her and she cared about him and those little things he did, holding doors open and carrying things and pushing in her chair after she had sat down meant the world to her, more than she could ever tell him.
"A truce?" Her bottom jaw dropped open in a mock expression of shock. "Hmm." Her eyes narrowed in a mischievous kind of contemplation before she sighed dramatically, lowering herself into the car and settling the food onto her lap. "Okay, fine, if you're going to make a big deal out of it." She was smiling as she spoke and stole a glance his way that betrayed her amusement at the back and forth that had started up between them.
