Continued from: Flynn's Apartment
Entering the room, Flynn gave Miles a nod of greeting, though his focus was mainly on the coffee pot, which, miraculously, was not yet empty. That, when combined with the fact that he had managed to actually get in a few minutes early and Mica had not left more teeth marks on his watch band, made him optimistic about the day. Pouring himself a cup of coffee, Flynn took a sip and decided that it was not nearly as bad as it could be.

Continued from The Shooting Range with Chris
"I don't know," Sarah was saying to Chris as they walked into the break room. On the way up from the shooting range, they'd gotten into a discussion about the most recent addition to a series of their favorite kind of movie -- 'the kind where stuff blows up.' "Don't get me wrong, it was fun, but I just don't think it was as good as the last one."

Flynn had shrugged slightly at the comment about finishing up all of the coffee since he had been taking another drink from his cup. He wasn't really a big coffee drinker, but a cup every morning seemed to help get his brain kick started, though after chasing the cat through the apartment, he really didn't need to be woken up any more.
At the arrival of the two newcomers, he vacated his place by the coffee pot. Since one of Flynn's pet peeves was people who decided to drink around computers- it seemed as if he was always getting a message about a computer and coffee mixing and causing some sort of serious issues- he always tried to finish off his coffee before heading to whatever the day was going to toss his way and this was no exception. Still, the coffee was piping hot and caution was needed while drinking it if he didn't want to suffer a burnt tongue.

"Oh -- you're fine," Sarah said, noticing the (really not bad looking) man with the glasses moving away from the coffee. "I've had about all the liquid jumpstart I can stand for one morning. It's my friend here who I sometimes think has the hollow leg."

Noticing Miles play with his pack of cigarettes, Chris simply raised a brow, crossed the room with purpose in his stride, and opened the window. "You'd think someone had lit a campfire in here," he quipped lazily, smiling calmly at Sarah as he crossed the room back in her direction, glancing only briefly towards Miles as he did so.
Detectives, he thought simply, with an internal roll of his eyes. If the man wanted to get his hackles up, he was going to just have to try harder... but then, if the man pushed too hard, the sergeant would have to return the favour, wouldn't he? He wasn't particularly eager for it to ever get to that stage, but he always remembered how his father had complained and - to be frank - bitched about the detectives in New York.
Guess they're the same wherever you go.

"Not too much, detective," Sarah replied, watching Chris move to adjust the window. She took possession of an empty chair and started retying one of her boots, the lace of which had come undone. She knew Chris was not an admirer of Miles, nor the other way around, but she was not about to add to the tension if she could help it. She flipped her braid off of her shoulder and glanced up at Miles. "Those things'll kill ya, you know."

Sarah shrugged. "Miles, then." She leaned over and picked up the discarded cup, putting it into the trash can properly. "Doesn't really make a difference what you do with them, just thought I'd point that out. So, Ty, what's the game plan?" She didn't usually call him Shep in front of other cops, or at least not those with whom they didn't interact often.

Chris recognised the shift in nicknames, and took it all in stride, either ignoring Miles' smile, or simply choosing not to return it. When he didn't know how to take one of the detective's expressions, he simply pretended it hadn't come about in the first place.
"Well, that depends," he reminded her. "Anyone want food? We're headed out to grab lunch." It was an open invitation, but one he wanted to extend to both Flynn and Miles. He recognised the former from occasional repairs on computers and the like... given that he had the tendency to break his somehow.
He'd only be paying for Sarah's and his own though. They had some 'petty cash', and if either of the other two wanted something, and didn't offer the money for it themselves, he'd use that.

Flynn gave a shake of his head. "Thanks, but I don't want anything." He was, admittedly, not a big conversationalist, but not in one of those rude ways that seemed to be far too common. He simply had very little of actual interest to say and therefore tended to say only what needed to be said.

"As long as you're over there, go crazy, Miles," Sarah drawled unconcernedly. She smiled at the quieter man when he spoke; one of those shy bookish types, from the look of it. He seemed vaguely familiar....ah, right.
"You're the one who fixed Tyler's computer last month, aren't you?" she asked him. "When his mouse jammed."
Flynn gave a little nod. "That'd be me. That was one of the easiest repairs I've had to make since coming here."
"I thought you looked familiar. Although around here, the faces start to blend together after awhile," she joked.
"I'm lucky if I can remember the names of half the people I come across on a day-to-day basis." He gave a slight shrug at his admission.
"Yeah, I hear that. Well, that's Tyler" -- she jerked her head at her tall partner -- "and the guy polluting the atmosphere outside is Miles." She gave the detective a sweetly taunting smile. "I'm Masterson."
"Nice to actually meet all of you. I'm Flynn Hyatt, not Computer Guy like some people around here seem to think is my name."
"You mean computer guys are actually given names?" Sarah quipped, grinning.
"Only those of us who do something other than just computer repairs," Flynn replied, making a rather rare joke. "I'm a sketch artist, too, so that means I get a name."
"And a sense of humor. That's even rarer for your species than a name -- I've met a bunch of tech guys who wouldn't know a joke if it attached itself to their faces."
Done with Flynn.

Chris had, by this point in time after Sarah had introduced him to Flynn, nodded his head in a polite acknowledgement, and claimed himself a seat. He'd taken it upon himself to use one of the simple wooden chairs, but being the somewhat predictable man that he was, he had flipped it around to sit on it backwards, arms folded over the backrest.
He remembered Flynn, and the mouse incident. He'd been sitting there, checking a few things, and it had suddenly stopped working. His words, after Sarah had asked what he was doing - which had been moving the mouse quickly back and forth as if that would solve everything - had simply been 'I think I broke it'. Of course, he'd tried to remedy the situation himself... by slapping the side of the monitor. Thankfully, Flynn had shown up not too long after that, so the computer was spared from further beatings. Chris couldn't even remember what the problem had been in the first place.
Glancing to Miles at the window, he silently, albeit begrudgingly, thanked the man for at least having the 'courtesy' to switch places, to where the smoke had a chance to escape the room.

"And here I always thought the party was wherever I was," Sarah said. She glanced at Flynn and winked. "Apparently we need a technician to make things shindig-worthy. My little dreams are crushed, now." She tilted her head backwards and to the side, looking over her shoulder at her partner as he adorned the chair. "So where are we getting lunch from, anyway? Since you're paying -- for mine, that is -- I figure I'll let you pick."

Flynn had given a small smile at the light joking and continued to work his way through his coffee. He was typically not found joining in on conversations- he really had very little to say- but it was nice to be included on occasions. It let him know that he was not only visible when someone needed him to fix a computer or do a sketch of a suspect.

"Damn," Chris mumbled, feigning disappointment, "and I was going to get take-out lobster." He offered his partner the most subtle of smirks, and returned his gaze to Miles. He wasn't above using sarcasm as a weapon, but he knew when to draw the line... usually.
"So... you allergic to anything?" he asked the detective somewhat plainly. "Anything you absolutely hate and want us to avoid like the plague?"

Sarah was never quite sure if Miles was attempting to impress people with his wit or just kind of goofy in general. "Well, that doesn't narrow it down much," she remarked idly, crossing her legs at the knee and examining her fingernails in a display of mild boredom. "Personally, I could kind of go for Chinese, if no one else has a better suggestion."
