The full moon that had just passed -- Owen's first and an unpleasant time all-round if he was completely honest -- had seen Zodiac in the company of Nenet who had kept the dog with her all through the night and into the morning until Owen had been released from the protected room in the basement -- a cell, really, there were no two ways about it really -- at which point the dog had spent several hours curled up at the foot of his bed while he slept off what felt like the worst hangover anyone had ever experienced in the history of the world. They would get better, Cole himself had said as much and Nenet had told him the same thing albeit in different words to the Alpha male, and Owen repeatedly told himself to believe them, as difficult as it was now in the beginning. It would get easier. Not just the full moons but everything, that was the hope and that was what they had told him with calm conviction in their voices as they spoke the words.
Marion's words reminded him rather unnecessarily that she knew him better than most. His smile was quiet but sincere and he nodded his head. "All right," he confirmed after taking and releasing a deep breath. "That sounds like a plan. I put myself in your capable hands." He gave Zodiac another scratch behind the ears before he went on to say, "Lead the way."

Marion grinned, and stood up. Leaving the bag of papers she'd brought for Owen, but balling up the chocolate wrapper and tossing it to a nearby bin, she brushed at her clothes absently.
"Moving through the Hyperion isn't something you need to be wary of, Owen. When one of the wolves doesn't want to be disturbed, the rooms will be shut. Open areas tend to stay open - and the rooms that are for everyone tend to be grouped away from the private wolves. My office is open to you whenever you want it - they have to obey my do not disturb post-it, but you'll be allowed to bypass that if you need me."
She gave Zodiac one last scratch on the head, then turned to Owen, doing what she should have done when she first came in. She put her arms around his shoulders and gave him a big hug. Possibly awkward since he was sitting, but Marion wouldn't have hesitated before he'd turned, and she saw no reason to do so any longer.
She said, slightly muffled, "I am so glad you're okay - and I am so glad you're here." She squeezed tightly, and then pulled back, opening the door.
"Down the stairs to the ground floor - my office is near the kitchen. Coming, Zo?"

Owen knew full well that the Hyperion was open to him now, he could consider it his home if he so wished, but it was so daunting; it wasn't just the scale of the place but the concept itself. He had only ever thought of himself as one man, a human, but now it was so much more than that and it was a lot to come to terms with. He was no longer a human but a werewolf, something stronger and more complex than any one man and their society, the rules and basic principles were all different as well; they had structure and hierarchies, intricate social networks. Life within the Hyperion came with all of that complexity, all those intricacies, and Owen wasn't sure whether or not he was ready for all of that.
Something inside of him responded to the contact, more than a simple touch against his leg or his arm; something about the embrace triggered a sudden flush of warmth and comfort and familiarity he hadn't been expecting. There was a trace of a smile on his face when she pulled back and then he stood, lifting himself up to his full height and feeling Zodiac bump against him, eager to stick by his side. "She wouldn't let herself get left behind," he told Marion, rubbing the dog's ears affectionately even as the German Shepherd trotted out of the room ahead of both of them, as though to investigate the hallway beyond and give it the all clear.
CONTINUED IN: Hallways with Marion.
