Stepping silently into the large kitchen, he glanced around at the mess Katrina had left behind her, and sighed to himself. His eyes wandered briefly to the window, shades and blinds safely drawn, and after setting the tray and cloth aside without a sound, he moved over, and dared to peel them back. Seeing the early morning light, he allowed himself to stand there for a few moments, admiring it in its simplicity. And then he remembered he had work to do, and set the shades and blinds back in place, exactly how he had found them.
Limping around the kitchen, trying to make as little noise as possible, he swept up the scattered pieces of whatever Katrina had dropped or knocked over, dispensing it all in the trash when he was finished. Filling the sink to wash off the tray, he fetched a simple glass from one of the cupboards, and topped it off with water. Draining it steadily, he put it in the sink, along with the other things to clean, and went about washing them. Drying them off afterwards, he returned them to their places in the kitchen, and looking around, he saw he was finished.
He would wander around the rest of the house first though, to ensure there was nothing else he had to clean up. Katrina had given him the day to rest before the next rise of the moon, and he didn’t want to lose any of that time simply because he’d neglected checking an area.
