Continued from: The Kitchen
Ryan walked over with his plate of sandwiches, having taken all four. He smiled at Erik for a moment before glancing at the Tyler's back. He still didn't get why Tyler didn't trust Erik enough. They were pack mates...he should be used to him by now. And the fact that Erik held something against Tyler was overlooked by the other wolf who gave Lucy a lop-sided grin before leaning against the wall.
"Now, now...let's not fight Tyler. Knives is just havin' a bit of fun." Ryan smiled for a moment before taking a bite of one of his sandwiches.

Erik had felt a brief sting of annoyance at the threat of Tyler’s. The fighter threatening to take his knife away. It didn’t matter that he had many more and could easily acquire yet more, it was his and he didn’t like Tyler taking away more things that were rightfully his. None of this showed on his blank expression however, simply watching Tyler spin the knife before a new scent invaded his nostrils – Ryan. He remained silent as the other wolf spoke before nodding slowly.
“That’s right Tyler… all just a bit of fun. After all I wasn’t actually aiming for you. I would have hit you if I was…” Erik trailed off and took a couple of steps forward, eyes intently fixed on his enemy. “I was just trying to keep you on your toes. You need to watch your back… what if I had been an unfriendly?”

Even though Erik didn’t react outwardly, Tyler knew he had pissed him off, and he twirled the knife again, his smile ever-so-subtle but still readable as the light flashed off the blade and reflected around them. He hadn’t acknowledged Ryan with his eyes, just given a barely-audible grunt at what the other wolf had said as he stood there, ridiculously casual, even eating a sandwich.
“Bet you wanted to though,” he pointed out, and rather nonchalantly, although inside, he was anything but indifferent. He watched Erik as he approached, and lifted one brow. “Unfriendly? Hmm. Well, that word’s a little tame for you, isn’t it? I’d go with raging psychopath myself…” He snapped the knife to a stop, blade facing down from his fist as if he wanted to stab at something. “But that’s just me.”

She knew well enough to know that keeping her trap shut was the best course of action. A few years ago that stupid smile from Ryan as he leaned on the wall of the corridor would have earned him at least a disgusted grimace, she couldn't stand any of the pack who thought so highly of the Alpha's, but typically now she simply averted her gaze to the side, glanced at the wall a moment before raising her tired eyes again to the advancing wolf.
She'd stopped moving back to her room now that a conversation of sorts had started and her pale eyes moved between Erik and Tyler slowly. Lucy didn't particularly care enough about her own safety to be worried about 'Knives', but the rivalry between him and her friend raised her hackles somewhat and with Ryan standing relatively close by, her already frayed nerves were on edge.

At Tyler’s words Erik finally allowed some feeling to appear in his smile. The tiniest hint of amusement was visible as he stared defiantly back at the fighter. Normally he preserved his emotions, kept them bound tightly in check as though afraid they might run out should he waste them on unimportant matters. And to Erik the only things not important were his Anime and his torturing techniques.
“Maybe I did. Still time to act on those wants, if I actually have them,” his words were low and casual, as though speaking on a fairly mundane matter. “Raging psychopath… it does have a ring to it, but I’m not the one you should be worried about. If you’re guard is so lowered that I can practise my knife throwing this close to you, then you should worry about the next time you’re in battle.” Erik moved even closer to Tyler and Lucy, the amusement increasing in intensity in his smile before it abruptly vanished, returning back to his blank and empty smile.
“I would hate for you to be stabbed in the back.”

“Oh, I bet you would…” Tyler muttered, having no doubt that the fighter-wannabe would hear him from where he stood. “Of course, there’s a difference between regretting such an incident, and wishing you were behind it yourself, isn’t there?” His brows rose, and he cocked his head, as if he were daring Erik to flat-out lie and say that wasn’t the case at all.
Part of the Irish male wished Erik would just challenge him, so he could drive the little bastard’s head into the wall and have a legitimate reason for it. As it was, so long as Vash restrained himself from doing that, Tyler couldn’t just attack him. As much as he hated the other male, he hadn’t been raised that way; dammit, he still had morals, no matter how incorrectly they were applied when it came to individuals like Erik, and Ramski, and everyone like them…
“And let’s face it… you’d probably enjoy doing that, wouldn’t you?”

He shrugged lightly, shoulders rising and falling in a casual motion as if Tyler’s words were hardly worth bothering about. “Enjoy it? Not really…” he trailed off, eyes glinting momentarily, attention fixed on the fighter opposite him. He ignored the other two wolves in the corridor – they were not part of his problem and so for the moment at least they did not exist.
He almost enjoyed the little verbal sparring matches the two of them partook in, even when he came off the worse. So long as he managed to wound Tyler mentally, even a little, it was worth it. The slight discomfort he could see in the fighter’s face when he had to deal with him. It gave him a very faint warm glow that could be stored and saved for later torture.
“If I had to, I’d much rather stab you in the front.”

“Huh… and yet my lack of enthusiasm about you throwing knives my way inspired confusion… you can see my position here, I’m sure.” Tyler’s eyes had returned to their human shade of green by this point, his wolf tired but quietly temperamental from the moon and the night it had spent in turmoil, caged and confined. Despite all that, he was managing to keep it below the surface… just.
“Well, with all that in mind, I’m still keeping hold of this, but thank you for taking the time to keep me on my toes.” His tone was sarcastic, yet subtly so, or rather, as subtle as he could be under the circumstances. Subconsciously, he had moved just in front of Lucy, so he would easily be able to push her back or shield her, if that became necessary.

Quiet as ever, Lucy watched warily from her position now slightly more behind Tyler. She glanced at his back before her gaze moved down the hallway to Ryan again and then back to Erik. She hated the moments like this; the tension in the air was so thick it was like she could feel it all clammy and cold against her skin. She would bet though that Erik's stare was the thing making her skin crawl, he wasn't even looking at her but she was still creeped out.
Ryan was just annoying, standing down at the end of the hall, not doing anything, just watching. Being an ass as usual. She told herself not to be biased but that wasn't exactly and easy thing. He respected the 'alphas' and therefore she disliked him by default.

Tyler was starting to become a bore. Repeating over and over again that he wasn’t going to return what was rightfully Erik’s, what hadn’t even been really thrown at him in the first place. Erik just wanted to retrieve his weapon and find something else to do. Possibly involving stabbing something. He simply blinked at the fighter for a few moments before slowly half turning away from him.
“If you really want, I can give you more knives…” Erik remarked, head tilting to the side as he fixed Lucy with his blank gaze. Although the words were a continuation of his conversation with Tyler, his gaze seemed to imply that it was to the female he was directing his words, although it couldn’t be proven either way. Exactly how Erik liked it.

Tyler stepped to the side, fully obstructing Lucy from view, keeping his action as casual as it could be, as if he hadn’t even realised he had put himself in front of her, his gaze still on Erik. Vash was mad enough to go through with just about anything, Tyler knew, and deep in the back of his mind, he knew that provoking him wasn’t the best course of action, but another part of him was oddly curious as to how far he would go…
“No, I think just the one is enough. But thank you. A very kind offer.” He tossed the knife up, catching it easily in his hand, not even watching the action as he carried it out. “Maybe later, I’ll leave it somewhere for you to find. I know how much you love these things after all. I wouldn’t want to deprive you of its company for too long.”

Ryan stood there, finishing up his first sandwich and licking off the jelly that had dribbled onto his fingers. He didn't really give a damn about the little squabble between Erik and Tyler. He was just genuinely bored. He offered Lucy a grin before holding out to her a sandwich. Tension met nothing to the young wolf. This would pass after Tyler and Erik got bored of looking at each other. And then start again when Knives wanted a little more fun. Like clockwork. Ryan was thinking about paying attention (for once) and see if there was a pattern.
When Lucy didn't reach out for the offered sandwich, he gave a shrug before taking a bite of it. Her loss. There was no real reason for him being there other then they seemed to be proving to be a nice source of entertainment.

There was a moment when Erik looked at her where Lucy simply stared blankly back at him before the shiver up hr spine caused her to look away; it helped that Tyler had moved again and blocked the other pack member totally from view. Her attention turned to Ryan as he offered her a sandwich but her expression of vacant disinterest must have been obvious because he retracted it and started eating it.
The blonde's nose wrinkled in vague disgust; the smell of the sandwiches was really overpowering after an exhausting night and the nausea that had been dissipating up until now came flooding back. As was common for her she cursed inwardly at her lack of a backbone, wanting to tell Ryan to go and find something better to do with his time but... she just didn't have the energy right now.

Erik had trained himself to spot all the tiny signs that showed he was getting through to his target. Almost invisible flinches or shudders when he looked at them, when he moved towards them. Erik prided himself on how quickly he could break down a target in his torture so that the very sight of him, even before he touched a weapon could strike fear into the heart of his prey.
The shiver by Lucy had been noticed then, and for a moment a hint of triumph gleamed in Erik’s eyes as he focused his sight back on Tyler, letting the fighter see the pleasure the fear had given him before the typical emotionless swept back over him. “In that case why don’t we play a game Tyler? Maybe I’ll leave something sharp for you to find later… I’m sure I can find... something to stick it in…”

Ryan, in Tyler’s opinion, was nothing but an idiot. Then again, the Irish werewolf thought most of the pack in its current state were idiots, if only because they held faith in Lucian and Farryn. They weren’t leaders… they were merely reaching for a goal far beyond their capabilities, and going about it in the wrong way.
Tyler’s growl at Erik’s ‘offer’ was subtle, but in the silence of the hallway around them, the sound was crisp and feral. “I’m sure you can.” He paused. “But your kinds of games don’t interest me…” He had detected the hint, as clear as it was, and he could hear Lucy breathing behind him. Tyler wasn’t about to risk putting her in even more danger just because of his own hated for the maniac opposite him.
So, with that, he hurled the knife back towards Erik, knowing the older wolf would catch it. And if he didn’t, then there was no love lost…
