His right eyebrow twitched upwards somewhat at the feral growl. Erik had always believed Tyler weak and the growl simply proved it. To give up on his plan of attack just because someone else was threatened… it was weak and would eventually prove fatal to the fighter, if Erik had his way. He fully believed in putting the pack’s safety as a whole before your own, but only in a fight and only at your Alpha’s orders. To show weakness any other time showed a weakness the pack couldn’t afford.
As his knife came flying back towards him he half spun to the side, dodging the wicked blade from hitting his body even as his hand flew out and caught it by the very end of the bladed side.
“There. That wasn’t so hard, now was it?” Erik questioned, slipping the small throwing weapon back into his arm brace, inwardly pleased at the return of his weapon. “Who would have believed you could be reasonable?”

Whereas individuals like Erik saw compassion for a friend as a weakness, Tyler regarded it as a strength, and one of his best qualities. It was what had kept him going, he supposed; he didn’t just have himself to think about. He had people like Lucy to consider as well, and if he was gone, then who would help her? Frankly, he didn’t want to debate it, not even internally.
“Yeah… around here, in this pack, reason isn’t exactly just lying around, is it?” He shrugged his bare shoulders, still focusing solely on Erik. He had been trained, not only as a fighter but the son of a fighter, to always focus primarily on the biggest threat, and right now, that was Erik. Tyler knew that if the older male had the chance to actually stab him in the back and replace him, he would take it. It wouldn’t take much to tempt him.

Had Erik known he was currently being considered the greatest danger around and had emotions been something he freely embraced, he would have been both pleased and in a way honoured, that he was held in such a high regard, even if the only current competitors for greatest threat were Lucy and Ryan.
Erik wanted to be a threat, to be recognised as one outside his clear talent in making other people see his point of view. For a brief moment he allowed himself to imagine showing his skills clearly to Tyler or to Lucy. Hearing them scream and beg and to know once and for all the power he held over them and all other weaklings.
It was images like that which kept him warm inside when he needed them.
“I hope you’re not expressing doubt in our pack’s reasoning abilities,” Erik remarked, already feeling much better because of his returned weapon and the flashes of images. “That’s hardly pack spirit Tyler.”

Ryan was not someone that Tyler viewed as a threat, on any given day in any situation. Not only was he not a fighter, but most of the time, his head seemed to be somewhere off in the clouds. He wasn’t a threat because most of the time, he simply didn’t seem to give a damn about anything. Laconic was a good word for it, Tyler supposed, but he could think about it later, if at all. It really wasn’t important.
“Hmm… pack spirit.” Tyler’s eyes narrowed. “I’ll make a mental note to look that up. Maybe one day I can feel it for myself, hmm?” He gestured behind his back to Lucy, for her to head around the corner and out of sight, so she and Tyler could at least step away from Erik and Ryan and maybe the old ‘out of sight out of mind’ philosophy would kick in for the other two males.
Tyler could hope, anyway.

For her mute part, Lucy had remained stock still at the conversation banded back and forth between Erik and Tyler, she was even devoid of thought as the knife was thrown back, simply standing and waiting and worrying without form or structure. When Tyler motioned for her to go around the corner though her brain seemed to snap to attention and wake up once more. She took a single stand backwards and then another, her pace picking up a bit as she realised that she now really want to get to her room and just curl up in the corner for all the good it would do.
Though she was well aware that she was hardly the centre of Erik's attention she was not stupid enough to turn her back on a hostile situation. She had once been pegged to train her way into 'fighter status' and even if she had given up training as a pointless endeavour she retained the limited mental training.

Erik watched both of them start their painfully obvious retreat. For a moment he considered stepping forward, moving after them but that might be considered really trying to start a fight and Lucian he knew, would disapprove of a fight in the hallways without his permission. Snorting slightly, Erik took a step back of his own, dismissing them both as unimportant ants but knowing better than to turn his back. It was dangerous and a weakness.
He relaxed his stance somewhat as he stood next to Ryan, arms loosely crossed over themselves, his fingers wrapped around the handle of one of his throwing knives, just to be on the safe side, in case Tyler took the lack of attacking as an opportunity to attack himself.
There would be other chances to get one over on the fighter. There always was.

Not taking his eyes off Erik until he absolutely had to, he also made a point of keeping his back from being exposed. It was not only instinct, but just plain common sense. Though he didn’t technically know for certain that Erik would take such an opportunity, he didn’t want to take chances. As much as he hated his life, he actually liked the living part of it, and wanted to keep it as such as long as he could.
When they were ‘safely’ around the corner and out of sight of Erik and Ryan, Tyler sighed to himself, shaking his head and wiping his hands off roughly on one another, as if the thought of where the knife had been made him feel dirty somehow, and he even grimaced as his imagination tried to kick in before he could stop it.

Ryan's eyes waned an excited amber for a moment. His wolf awake from the 'excitment' that had come around him. If only for just a little bit. Hell, if he spent his time training. He'd be able to get Tyler on ends. The younger wolf hated being seen as nothing then scenery. Even though his laid-back attitude had become his staple in the pack. They underestimated him greatly as far as he was concerned.
"Well...that was entertaining." He gave a small smirk, finishing up his second sandwich and glancing down at the remaining two. He looked over to the older male for a moment, offering the plate of food. He'd survived being in the kitchen with both alphas for this. He was quite proud of himself for not just making a run for it. He watched to corner Lucy and Tyler had retreated too.

After rounding the corner, Lucy had only paused to shoot a concerned gaze over her shoulder at Tyler, and to make sure that he was following and she barely broke step even to do that. As she reached her door, one hand went to the handle automatically and she leaned to the side slightly to look around the fighter in order to see the corner itself, not really sure why she even bothered with the action.
She looked at Tyler and then without a word turned the handle that she gripped with fingers white from nerves and disappeared into her room, leaving the door open behind her.

Erik liked Ryan, really he did. Well as much as it was possible for Erik Vash to like anyone and anything that wasn't his beloved Manga or torture devices. Out of all the pack members that were not leaders, it was Ryan he could tolerate the most and had Erik been a more stable personality he might have felt some guilt about his next actions, perhaps even enough guilt to change his mind about what he was about to do. But Erik didn't feel guilt, or uncertainty or even true friendship. To feel such a thing would waste energy and once he started there was always the fear that Erik wouldn't be able to stop.
He pulled out one of his tiny throwing daggers – a different one to the one Tyler had touched – and spun, weapon held tightly in his hand as he brought it down on the offered sandwich, stabbing into it with the smallest hint of frustration. He wanted to stab something or someone and the food seemed the safest choice, blade stopping its vicious assault just before cracking the plate the food rested on.

And luckily for Erik, Ryan couldn't give a damn what he did to the sandwiches. Better the peanut butter and jelly then him. An eyebrow quirked slightly as he watched Erik attack the one sandwich, wrinkling his nose slightly and giving a slight sigh. "Ya know...if I was anyone else...I'd take offense to that. My sandwiches aren't that bad." He was the pack's unofficial cook after all. His food was always good.
Ryan gave a sigh, using his head to flick his own hair out of his face before setting down another sandwich on the plate. There had been two after all and he was intelligent enough to know the first one was going to die. Horribly and painfully. The jelly even seemed to be like blood, strawberry jam was actually a good choice to go for this morning. "Let's try this again...without the unneccessary and untimely death of the peanut butter this go around." He gave a cheeky little smile. Sure, Ryan wasn't a fighter. But he could be one of the most underestimated pack members which made him dangerous. Because he loved his pack...unless they looked down at him. Then he didn't care for morals. He'd stab them in the middle of the shoulder blades without a second thought.

The blade was twisted in the sandwich, gouging out a small circle of bread, jam and peanut butter. Erik’s upper lip twisted slightly in the tiniest hint of disgust and anger as he pulled his weapon along the side of the food, leaving a deep gash in it before finally removing it completely.
He knew that Ryan had a devious side, a dangerous side that he kept hidden and that was one of the reasons why he tolerated the other wolf’s company as much as he did. Erik could almost respect that, as well as drawn some enjoyment from seeing others underestimate Ryan, knowing what he did.
Erik eyed the other sandwich for a moment before shaking his head, his stomach wanting something a little more substantial than peanut butter and jelly – it wanted meat. “No thanks. But thank you for the other one.” It had to be said, he felt a little better now that he had inflicted some kind of pain on something, even an inanimate object.

Ryan figured as much. But than again...he wins out with the peanut butter and jelly sandwich that survived a meeting with Erik. All was well in the world. Or at least Ryan's world. Perhaps that was why Ryan was underestimated...he acted too much of a simple person way too much. Laid back and without a care in the world. And why should he? As long as people didn't annoy him and he didn't annoy people. He didn't have a care the world.
"Welcome, man. Need any breakfast?" His way of offering...only because he respected his "friend". And he liked to think he was the best cook in the pack. The kitchen and the courtyard were his favorite places in this new place. He adored the kitchen. And loved to be outside. He took a bite of his sandwich, absently chewing and glancing down the hall where Lucy and Tyler had disappeared down.

The blade twirled rapidly in between Erik’s fingers, flashing in and out of the light as it performed a complicated ‘dance’ routine. It was one that only Erik himself seemed to understand, more than a random pattern of wherever the knife slipped only to be caught again. There was a kind of perverse beauty and order to the game he was idly playing, his idea of non lethal fun.
He let his head move slowly to one side as he considered Ryan’s offer, constantly on his guard around everyone who wasn’t his Alpha’s be they ‘friend’ or ‘foe’. It was just the way Erik was, and that was all there was to it. Finally, he shrugged, grabbing the weapon by the handle and snapping it back into the armband. “Sure, I could eat.”

Ryan really didn't pay any mind to his 'friend's' constant being on guardness. The wolf couldn't blame him really. Even though Ryan was constantly looking over his shoulder around anyone mainly. Especially the shiftly characters. He couldn't trust them farther then he could throw them. The youngest pack member instead found safety outside...away from everyone else. Hell, he really didn't like putting his back to Erik (and for damn good reason...did you see the poor peanut butter and jelly sandwich?)
He brushed off the crumbs on his sweatpants, too lazy to change into anything else for the time being. Going back into the kitchen, meant going back to where his alphas were. And he hadn't exactly made them all too happy the last time he was in there. "I think I saw some sausage..." He shrugged as he started back to the kitchen, standing beside the other wolf.
