The air inside the abandoned house was dank and cold, with the stench of death etched into every corner and crevice as if it was a part of the framework itself. It was clear that this was once a beautiful place for someone to live, but it was now just a boarded up, derelict building that was never visited. The insides had not seen the light of day for many a year and mould was now growing around the cracks in the ceilings where the rain had seeped through.
In the back room in the house and in the darkest, furthermost corner, Giselle Tancredi was sat facing the walls, softly humming the tune of "Mary, Mary Quite Contrary" to her beloved teddy bear as she cradled him in her arms. The rhyme had been the one that Giselle's nanny had sang to send her to sleep when she was a young girl and although any memories she once held of her surrogate mother had now vanished the tune had survived in her memory - it was like her safety blanket, and she hummed it when she felt that she needed more comfort. For over a hundred years the little girl wandered the world in search of a place to belong and for the time being she had found that place; dilapidated though the house may be, it was hers.
She hummed the tune over and over, always rocking her teddy back and forth, looking out of place all alone in the large house. There were times when she felt remnants of an emotion long since forgotten; when she missed her family and her old life... but these moments were fleeting and in recent years had become increasingly few and far between. Except Giselle was never alone. She had her dear teddy bear for one: he had been with her since before her turning. Then there was Scarlett, the lifelong companion to Giselle that shared her own body with her.
"You know you should sleep, 'Selle."
Giselle froze, shuddering at the thought of having to face the nightmares that always chased her. The memories of what happened to her all those years ago still haunted her dreams and although the details had become fuzzy over time she still remembered the horror and the fear that gripped her. She turned to her 'twin' with the same expression of innocence and sorrow that she always had. "Can't sleep," she said with a sad tint to her voice, eyes downcast, then turned back to the wall.
Scarlett frowned then slowly made her way towards the other, each footstep she took causing the floorboards to creak faintly. "'Selle," she began, in a slightly chastising tone. "You know you need your strength if we're to survive together. I can't do anything without you."
Giselle stopped cradling the stuffed toy and set it gently in her lap. Using her hands with her palms flat to the floor, she slid herself around on the spot so she was facing Scarlett. "Can't sleep," she repeated. "Bad dreams." She saw Scarlett's frown deepen and began to rock herself gently back and forth, concentrating on trying to stop the memories from returning to haunt her. They were the one thing that scared her above anything else and the one thing that Scarlett could not protect her against. Not knowing how to deal with them, she would run from them in the hopes that they will leave her alone one day.
Scarlett silently faded into the shadows as Giselle began humming again to comfort herself and to try focused her attention on trying to keep herself from falling to sleep.

A loud crack awoke Giselle from her light sleep and set her on edge immediately - unexpected company was not something she liked to have to deal with. With fear tugging at her heart she clutched her teddy to her chest and pushed herself up off the floor, not bothering to dust off her dress. Staying in the shadows she peered out of the doorway to see who had disturbed the morbid peace.
Her heart began to beat faster as she watched the stranger hammering the board back in place. She wrinkled her nose a little in confusion: why would he make getting back out harder for himself? She could only assume he did this to make sure nobody followed him into the house.
She watched as he looked around himself, whistling. "Looks like a good enough place for me," he said, quite obviously happy with his find. He continued, "...though it kinda stinks a little," then wandered to the first room he came across.
She heard the soft voice of Scarlett beside her. "Come sister, we have business to attend to," she whispered, her excitement evident in her voice. Giselle would probably need to lend Scarlett her body but she didn't mind because it meant she never remembered what happened. Whatever Scarlett did was to protect her but she always felt sick at the thought of what her twin was capable of. She really didn't want to have anything to do with it and sometimes felt slightly guilty for it.
Giselle pulled the door towards her, being careful not to make any sound that may betray her presence, then headed down the hallway after the stranger.

Giselle elected to stay in the shadows for the time being watching the stranger from the relative darkness of the hallway. He was currently sitting on one of the old sofas, coughing from the dust cloud that bloomed as he sat heavily on the aged piece of furniture. He reached into his bag and took out a lighter and a packet of cigarettes, tapping the box on his hand until one fell out. Giselle grimaced, suppressing the urge to gag as he lit up - she detested the smell of cigarettes. It wasn't hard to tell he was a heavy smoker from his chesty cough to the reek of death she got from him: she thought it strange how she could detect that through the smell in the house. Giselle figured he didn't have as long as he probably hoped. She drew her teddy bear back, holding him to her chest in case the smell got onto him.
She heard a disgusted sigh behind her. "A smoker. Smokers taste disgusting," Scarlett hissed maliciously, angered at the thought of missing out on a feeding. In an instant the anger was gone, replaced by something that could vaguely resemble pity if she weren't smiling so wickedly. "Poor soul... he doesn't even realise what's growing inside him, killing him bit by bit."
Giselle didn't take her eyes off the man while Scarlett spoke; she didn't really like it much when she did since it was more like she was voicing her thoughts to herself rather than asking for clarification. It was a good thing the man was across the other end of the room or he may have heard. As it was, he was now beginning to explore the room. She watched as he walked away from her direction towards the door that leads to the dining room. Giselle turned to whisper to Scarlett with a hint of panic in her voice. "What if he finds-"
Scarlett held a finger to her lips and shook her head. "It doesn't matter, 'Selle. He won't tell anyone, will he? I'll make sure of that."
The dining room was Scarlett's "storage space" where she kept the bodies of her victims, tossed into the room like it was a piece of rubbish until a time where she decided that it was safe for her to dispose of them. She did make an effort to clean the room every few days because the decomposing bodies would make a heck of a stink. Then there were the bugs. Giselle wrinkled her nose at the thought of them. The dining room walls were spattered with blood from Scarlett's favourite form of torture: slicing her victim's abdomen open and watch them bleed to death. Any unsuspecting person who may stumble across the room would be very... surprised, Giselle supposed. She was more worried about the slim chance the man got away and told on them.
"Now come, I believe it's high time we got to know our new friend, don't you?" Scarlett held her hand out and smiled with more than a touch of insanity in her crimson eyes. Giselle hesitated a moment, unsure about whether this was the only course of action available. Then again, Scarlett had done nothing but looked after her... A cry from the other room startled her out of her thoughts and she took Scarlett's hand, allowing the vampire to take temporary control of the small girl's body. Scarlett's lips curved into a malicious grin as she walked into the room.

WARNING for extreme violence and gore in this post. There's a summary at the end.
Scarlett could hardly contain her excitement as she watched her victim falling back into the room. He started violently at the sight of the little girl. "Who-" he began, then cut himself off, looking back into the dining room. "You need to get out of here."
Scarlett just tilted her head slightly to the side, maintaining her blank, childlike expression whilst reaching inside the small pouch on the back of Giselle's bear and sliding one of her ring blades onto her slight fingers. Scarlett only smiled that he was oblivious to the fact that he was headed towards the one he was so worried would find him. Finally letting her excitement get the better of her, she dropped the bear to the floor and using her weapon-less hand she, when the nameless stranger had reached her, push him backwards with such force that he fell to and slid along the floor on his back. Scarlett doubted the poor man's mind had time to comprehend what had just happened.
In a second the innocent façade was gone and in it's place was a manic grin and crimson eyes glinting even in the darkness. Scarlett gave him a sympathetic look, feeling genuinely sorry that he had stumbled across this house... especially since he was a smoker. He frantically shuffled backwards to try and get away. Scarlett couldn't help but compare the movements to an insect: she regarded both creatures with deep contempt. Finally, he hit the wall and pressed himself flat against it, maybe thinking that somehow that would make him invisible to her. She giggled at the thought, then stopped about two feet from him.
"D-did you..?" He stammered, pointing into the dining room.
She gave a nostalgic sigh. "Good times."
The man got to his feet and tried to run past the young girl, obviously thinking that he could get away whilst she was distracted. Rolling her eyes, Scarlett stepped into his path, bringing her arm back before thrusting it forward in a powerful punch. She held his arm with her free hand to stop him from flying backwards again then she pushed him backwards so he was back against the wall again.
It took him a moment to realise the small fist had gone through his shirt and stomach and was sat in a gaping hole in his abdomen, blood trickling from around Scarlett's wrist. He gave her a confused look as if he didn't quite understand what was going on and Scarlett only smiled, feeling the warmth surrounding her hand; feeling his insides pulsating with each shuddering breath. She began opening her fist with her hand still inside him so that the blade on her ring would slice his insides, causing her victim to scream in agony as he writhed in an attempt to escape her vice-like grasp. After she had fully opened her palm she proceeded to slowly turn her wrist, feeling something tearing each time she did. Each twist brought a new scream, and each scream brought a fresh spray of blood from the wound, mostly hitting her in the chest.
She tore her hand out of his abdomen, showering blood across the walls beside them, then as swiftly as she had done so she punched him hard enough for the blade to become embedded slightly above the existing wound, which was pouring blood and shredded innards. With a flick of her wrist his chest was sliced open, then she let him slide down the wall to the ground where he sat twitching for a while, his eyes focused on Scarlett. The twitching continued for a while before his body finally succumbed to the lack of blood and oxygen and he took his final, shuddering breath.
Lightly, she licked at one of her bloody fingers. She grimaced. "Disgusting." She wiped the blood off her face with her sleeve, smearing it instead of cleaning it off, then set about putting the new body with the rest. When she was done clearing up after herself she would let Giselle sleep again since, they may need to venture out during the night. For now, Scarlett had had her fun.
SUMMARY: Scarlett, who now has complete control of Giselle's body, violently tortures the stranger who entered the house and ends up killing him. She puts the body in the dining room then cleans up so that Giselle can rest.
