"There's nothing wrong with lazy nights," Tariq said by way of acknowledgement. "It has been hectic for a while, everyone could use a rest." Between new members coming in and old ones stepping out and away along with some hierarchy shifts and shock discoveries the pack had been through a fair amount in a short space of time. Tariq for one was glad that the pack was having a chance to settle down after everything that had happened.
"I'm sure there's something going on. Shall we find out?" They wouldn't even need to interrupt anything going on, all they needed to do was get close enough to the rooms to get a good enough idea and then move along if they had no inclination to join in or abandon their private time in the courtyard altogether. Tariq had no intentions as of yet to do that but there was no telling; there might be something of interest going on that they had yet to discover, something neither of them could resist joining in on.

“That’s true,” Ananda had to admit. Perhaps it was because of how hectic things had been recently the quiet seemed so strange. There had been so much going on, so much activity going on in the hotel, that the relative silence seemed completely unusual and out of place. So long as there was nothing going on that needed to be worried about, she was more than happy for a nice, quiet night that spread to as many of the others in the pack as was possible.
“I think we should, just to satisfy our curiosity.” If they came across something interesting going on, there was always the possibility that they might decide to join in, but at the moment, Ananda had absolutely every intention of returning to their courtyard goings-on when they were finished, as long as Tariq wanted to.

Ironic, really, that two of the quietest and most unassuming members of the pack were the most curious about the cause of such stillness in the pack's home when it arose. They were used to pranks and laughter, the sounds of running feet and the buzz of activity; there was a little of that coming from the TV lounge and the kitchen but it wasn't enough to be considered the norm. Tariq couldn't help but wonder where exactly everyone was and why it all seemed so peaceful. They shouldn't be taking it for granted he knew but perhaps on one level he just wanted to know that everything was all right.
With his mate's hand held gently in his grasp he wandered towards the communal areas set closest to the front of the hotel, the kitchen to one side and the lounge to the other; it was towards the latter that he stepped first, coming to a halt out of the way so it wouldn't seem like they were intruding but stopping close enough so that they could see what was going on. From where he stood he could see the screen of the television, just as he could see Min Ho and the backs of Brody and Devon's heads.

Perhaps the curiosity built up without them realizing it, slowly accumulating over time, left over from various situations, almost festering until they just couldn’t resist it any more. Then, when that happened, they just couldn’t resist letting their curiosity out, letting it lead them to investigate a situation that might not otherwise really cause too much concern or really be noticed all that much. She supposed that was a possibility, one explanation as to why the quiet had really caught their attention and set their curiosity up to a point where it couldn’t be ignored. She really didn’t consider them taking the calm and quiet for granted. All they were doing was making certain that all was well. There was nothing wrong with that, after all.
She listened to what could be heard from the kitchen, even as she looked into the lounge. It seemed as if those in the immediate area were content for the time being, their attention on whatever they were doing. She liked the thought of everyone being content, but whether or not everyone really was had yet to be seen. She hoped they were, though.

So far nothing really seemed out of place. Tariq stood looking into the TV lounge watching the innocent exchange between Min Ho, Brody and Devon and saw nothing unusual or troubling. Hopefully the rest of the hotel was in much the same state but there was only one way for them to find out. The kitchen would be next and Tariq turned his head to look over his shoulder towards the room on the other side of the lobby before angling his gaze on his mate to see if she was ready to move on in their investigation.
Moving closer to the kitchen granted them a clearer view of what seemed to be an eating contest that was well underway between Steven and Bianca. Tariq smiled and chuckle quietly at the sight. Many outsiders would find the idea of a pack Beta acting in such a juvenile fashion downright confusing or perhaps even ridiculous but that was the beauty of a pack like this. They weren't rigid and didn't feel the need to rely on displays of dominance or aggression to keep things in order.

She really wasn’t expecting to find anything unusual going on within the pack’s home, sure that is was nothing more than a particularly quiet night. As odd as they could seem, especially considering the size and liveliness of the pack, such nights could come about on occasions. Ananda very much hoped that the rest of the hotel proved to be blanketed in the same amount of peace as the tv lounge seemed to be. When she say her mate’s gaze on her, she gave a little nod, signaling that she was ready to move on if he was. She didn’t want to say anything for fear of interrupiting those who were watching television.
Moving along with her mate, Ananda couldn’t help the little smile that crept to her face when she saw what was going on in the kitchen. Such unexpected sights were one of the things that made being part of the pack so interesting. There was never any way to know what one might come upon when they wandered through the halls and peeked into the public rooms.

If there was anything going on then it was contained to the upper levels and kept away from the windows, they had been able to hear nothing from the courtyard. Tariq wasn't concerned, he trusted those in command to alert the others to any trouble and honestly it wasn't the first time the pack had actually managed to get some real peace and quiet within their own home. Cole or someone else -- if the Alpha was too busy -- would inform them of anything amiss. Everything was as it should be, albeit a bit quieter than what they were used to.
Tariq glanced to his mate with a smile on his face, he saw no need to linger in the doorway to the kitchen and they could always come back after their investigation of other parts of the hotel if they wanted something to eat or drink. Waiting until Ananda had gotten a good look at what was happening inside the room Tariq moved them along. The dining room would be the next logical step, it was closer than anything else and so it was in that direction that he headed next.

There was almost always someone close by should something happen, considering the size of the pack, so Ananda wasn’t all that worried about some sort of trouble. At least, not the kind of trouble that really needed to be worried about. Someone could be looking to make trouble with a prank, but she was getting more confident that there really wasn’t anything to worry about. It was still a little quieter than she was accustomed to, but so long as the rest of their search turned up nothing out of the ordinary, then she would be happy.
She returned the smile, highly amused at what they had just seen in the kitchen. Heading for the dining room was indeed the next logical step and she moved along with Tariq.

Perhaps with all the changes that had affected the pack in recent times it was no real surprise that things had quieted down. They all needed to unwind, process what had happened, people coming and going and lives changing in little ways that they did not yet fully understand. Tariq could understand people wanting a little downtime after all the excitement and really he couldn't blame anyone for wanting to relax, share some peace and quiet in the company of those they loved and admired. After all, didn't he do much the same thing every day? Spending time with his mate was something Tariq felt he relied upon, it was a vital part of each and every day and nothing would change that.
Even with the door to the dining room closed a wolf's hearing was powerful enough to pick up the voices on the other side. Mara and Kyle, he could pick out, but his sense of smell told him they were not alone, there was someone else in the room with them. Grant, unless he was mistaken. "Everything seems to be in order so far," he said to Ananda, turning his dark eyes on her with a content and unconcerned expression.

There was nothing quite like a time of rest and relaxation after a time of changes like had happened with the pack. In a way, it almost seemed as if they needed to reassure themselves of the bonds they had with the others in the pack, wanting to spend as much time as they could with those who meant the most to them while they had the opportunity to do so before the next thing, whatever it might be, had the chance to happen. It was really a matter of when rather than if, so taking the chance to relax and unwind was always the best thing to do when the opportunity arose. She was certainly all for spending as much time with those she cared about as she could, most especially Tariq. How could she ever possibly not want to spend as much time as possible with him?
“It seems to be,” Ananda agreed with a soft smile. She was doubting that they would find much, if anything, going on that would garner anything like concern, but she was more than content to continue on, making her way through the hotel with Tariq, checking to make absolutely sure that her feeling that all was calm and well was correct.

Tariq and Ananda were among those in the pack who much preferred to spend time in one another's company as opposed to run around and wreak havoc, no matter how harmless the intent. They watched the games and the play rather than joining in, a majority of the time, and while they would gladly sit and enjoy a movie with others in the pack they were just as likely to be found in their own room or in the courtyard, taking time away from it all. They were not loners, not anymore, they cared a great deal about their pack and enjoyed their company and there was no denying that pull to be with others of their kind but they were most drawn to spending time with each other instead of anyone else. There was nothing wrong with that, Tariq had never heard any complaints, and really it was understandable. They were mates, they were bonded in a way humans would never be able to understand, and so why should they be any other way?
"Something tells me," he began, his eyes on hers, "we would have found trouble by now, if there was any to be found." With that he brought her hand in his up to his lips and pressed a gentle kiss to the backs of her knuckles before lowering it again. "Would you like to keep looking, just to make sure? Or would you prefer to just go back to the courtyard?" There was a soft smile on his face as he spoke, telling Ananda that he would agree with whatever she chose to do, just as always.

Their draw to spend time with each other rather than anyone else was something Ananda was sure the others within the pack with mates understood perfectly. It was something they were drawn to, not because they didn’t enjoy spending time with their pack mates, but because they loved each other so completely and were so very comfortable in one another’s company. That wasn’t, of course, to say they weren’t comfortable in the company of the rest of the pack- far from it, actually- but she would always choose to spend time with Tariq over anyone. He was her other half- her better half- and any time spent with him was time very well spent, no matter what they might be doing during that time. Her mate’s presence was so calm and comforting that, no matter what was going on, her mood seemed to sway towards calm when he walked into the area.
She gave a soft smile of her own. Ever the gentleman, her mate, and just one of the many, many things she loved so dearly about him. “I think you’re right. If there was something going on that we needed to know about, we would have found out by now. If something does end up happening that we need to know about, I have no doubts that someone will find us; I thing going back to the courtyard would be perfect, unless you’d rather do something else.” She was just as willing to do whatever Tariq wanted as he was willing to do what she wanted. He spent so much time making her happy, doing what she wanted, that she needed to know that he understood that she was more than willing to do what he wanted as well.

All mating pairs acted differently, naturally, there were always deviations from the norm and different levels of attachment and dependence when it came to wolves; there were those like Tariq and Ananda who practically spent every waking minute with one another, and then there were those like Cole and Dia at the other end of the scale. They spent time together, yes, but they could go for an entire day without seeing one another except for at the very beginning and end of the day. Every pair of mates found their own rhythm and ended up sticking to it; unlike humans, mates never tired of one another or fell out of love, there were no break-ups or divorces. For them, mating meant forever. To Tariq, that was exactly what it meant. He planned to be by Ananda's side until the end of his life, whenever that might be.
He smiled at her and reached out with his free hand to brush an errant wisp of blonde hair back from her face, tucking it behind her ear gently and with affection. "Back to the courtyard it is, then," he said, sounding perfectly at peace with the notion, and he was. "Are you hungry? Thirsty? We could stop by the kitchen on our way back." There was no need to continue roaming the hotel, not with the ground floor so calm and composed. If there was something going on higher up, those like Kyle, for one, would have already reacted to it by now.

To be honest, Ananda wasn’t sure how she’d be able to deal with seeing Tariq only a couple of times a day. Oh, she wasn’t about to follow him around like a little lost puppy, begging for attention, but it would have been odd not seeing him regularly throughout the day, stopping for a quick chat or to just spend a little time with each other. She very greatly enjoyed every moment spent with her mate, just as she knew others enjoyed the time with their own, and wouldn’t wish for the rhythm of their lives to be any different. There was nothing in the world Ananda enjoyed more than spending time with her mate, but if Tariq expressed the desire to be alone, then she was perfectly willing and capable of finding something else to be doing,. Aside from that, Ananda had no intentions of going anywhere.
“I don’t need anything right now, but if you’d like something, I’m more than happy to go along to get it.” Tariq was always taking care of her, making sure she had what she needed, practically bending over backwards to make sure she was happy, so when she had the opportunity, she tried to make sure that he knew that his comfort and well-being meant just as much to her as she knew hers did to him.

It was a by-product of how they had met and spent their lives before joining the pack, Tariq knew. They had spent every day together and unlike many humans who would have grown weary of one another's company, they were wolves, and as such highly social creatures by their vary nature. Tariq had been born a wolf, unlike Ananda, and he was not designed to live alone; he knew that life would not suit him. It had not agreed with him in the time after he and his brother had separated, before he had met the woman who was now his wife and mate. Being with her was all he wanted in life. So long as he had Ananda by his side then he could be content.
"I have everything I need," he told her with a smile, his eyes locked with hers so there could be no confusion as to his meaning. There was no worry about that in his mind, Ananda knew him better than he knew himself at times and if anyone was capable of understanding him at any given moment then it was her. She would know exactly what he meant. His thumb brushed over the back of her hand before he started them on their way back to the courtyard and the peace and quiet that awaited them there.
