(Continued from The Library)
The small band of werewolves entered the beautiful lobby of the hotel they called home, carrying sizeable quantities of fast food. While the others wandered into the large dining room with the meals, Heidi picked up the desk phone and dialed Cole's room.
"Afternoon, chief. The library crew has returned....no, no problems...we've brought food. Come on down if you're hungry. Right. Welcome."
Her second call was to her fellow Beta. "Steven, it's Heidi. The kids and I brought lunch....yes, downstairs. No, I don't deliver, funnyman. Right." She hung up and followed the others.

Marion parked her mustang in the Hyperion's car park and collected her briefcase, leaving her coat in the car. She took her time locking the car and walking over to the lobby. With this hotel, it paid to let yourself be noticed, rather than surprise anyone.
She walked up to the entrance, entering the lobby with her briefcase - her heels making a loud clack on the tiles. She stood by the front desk and waited patiently.
I wish modern hotels were as prompt as these people are...I know I've already been acknowledged... that's more than I'd get at the Doubletree. She brushed an imaginary speck of lint from her sleeve and looked up as someone approached.

Entering the vast lobby, he glanced immediately to the owner of the scent he had recognised, and offered the blonde woman a smile. Immediately, the other werewolves lingering around the edges of the room relaxed, apparently realising this human was welcome, and soon began to head out of the room and return to whatever they had been doing before the ‘intrusion’.
“Didn’t expect you to drop by,” he said to her in a relaxed, yet curious manner as he came to a stop some few feet away, he leaned slightly against the counter only really used for loitering nowadays rather than what it had been designed for. “Not that I don’t appreciate the visit. What’s going on?”

Marion smiled as Cole greeted her. "Well, I didn't expect the lord of the manor himself to come out." She walked up and gave him a hug in greeting.
"You're looking well as always." She adjusted her suit, which never needed it. He smiled as she made her adjustment. "Well, I have immortality on my side. What's your secret?"
She grinned wickedly. "You get more charming every year. Dia's trained you well." She held out her briefcase. "We need to talk about the recent job you gave me - the case concluded today - it was a long trial." Absently she touched underneath her eyes, sure that the makeup over her dark circles would be fading.
(with thanks to Cole for the one line)

Cole didn’t need to see the dark circles to know she’d worn herself ragged with her work, as usual, but like always, she was just getting on with the job; not letting it hold her back. “Then I guess we’d better talk about it,” he agreed, nodding his head as he looked up from the briefcase. He glanced over his shoulder, seeing — as expected — Kyle leaning in the doorway; he seemed to see the blonde male shadowing him a lot, as if he couldn’t let the Alpha Male out of his sight. The word ‘overprotective’ sprang to mind, but it was quickly replaced with the more appropriate term of ‘loyal’.
“Tell Heidi we have a visitor,” he said, and saw Kyle nod and head into the dining room once again. “I figure she’d wanna hear this,” he explained needlessly to Marion while they waited.

Heidi appeared moments later, all smiles for their legal aide and friend. "Rhi, lovely to see you," she said, moving to greet the other blonde woman. "You look absolutely exhausted, would you like some coffee?"

"Heidi." Marion said the blonde woman's name with a smile and returned the hug. "I could murder a cup of coffee. I need to speak with you and Cole though, so if I could have it along with someplace we could chat a bit, that would be wonderful."

Heidi nodded, and glanced to Cole. "Should I bring the coffee to your study? And do you want some yourself?"

Cole nodded. “Thanks,” he confirmed. “We’ll see you up there.” With that, he smiled again to Marion, whom he very much considered a family friend after all the times she had helped them in the past. He turned from the counter, straightened to his full height, and headed for the stairs at the other end of the lobby which would lead them up to his study, on the next floor.

Marion smiled and said quietly to Heidi - "You know, my assistant mentioned you ever so casually when the case closed. About 4 times." With a grin, she moved to follow Cole up the stairs and turned to say one more thing -
Heidi shook her head and gestured - "I know, I know - black."

Continued from: The TV Lounge.
Stepping into the large entrance hall of The Hyperion, Cole quickly set eyes on the newcomer. He sniffed the air without even breaking stride or altering the position of his head - or his expression, for that matter - as he came to stand in the middle of the room. The guards were standing now, whereas they had been seated, in various stages of relaxation, before the human male had entered.
One brow slightly quirked, he eyed the human quizzically, before something occured to him. Marion had mentioned an assistant. "And you might be?" he asked, regardless of his idea. If he gave this stranger a name, the human might go with it just for the sake of adopting an identity the werewolves might be more familiar with, and Cole was paranoid to a sensible degree.

Sissy had caught the unfamiliar scent of the newcomer and couldn't resist investigating. She stopped upon seeing the stranger, but the fact that Cole was already dealing with the situation- as if she hadn't been expecting that- she let it go and decided that it was none of her business. Instead of lingering to see what was going on, she started to head through on the way back to her room. She thought it was about time she got to cleaning up.

Cole observed the young human curiously, and when the name was given - albeit in pieces and rather nervously - he nodded. "Thought so. Marion mentioned you earlier."
After a moment, and giving a brief, reassuring signal and glance to the guards, Cole stepped forward, now clearly more relaxed. Cole would never completely take his guard down around someone he wasn't fully comfortable and familiar with, granted, but if this young male posed any kind of threat, the Alpha wasn't seeing it. At all.
"I'm Cole," he told Andrew. "Cole Stanton." He offered a hand politely.

Sissy was admittedly moving slower than she normally would have, curious but knowing that she really didn't have any business hanging around. Certainly, she was a member of the pack and anything that happened concerning it was as much her business as anyone else's, but with Cole handling things, everything was perfectly in control. Still, she couldn't resist moving slowly, hoping to learn something interesting. It was better than cleaning up, anyway.

Why do people always call me that? He remembered when Molly had been introduced to their pack; she had called him that as well, and in the same kind of apprehensive tone. Do I really intimidate people this much? He would have been disappointed or possibly worried if he didn't find it amusing... he knew he should be reassured by this revelation though, and he filed it away. Dia would find it entertaining at least.
"Cole will do fine," he said to Andrew, repeating the same words he had used with anyone else who had called him 'sir' in the past. It was a respectful title, he knew, but it always made him feel like a general, or some other kind of hard-ass who needed the name to assert his dominance. "Marion didn't mention that you'd be stopping by; what brings you here?" He'd seen the file in the young man's arm, but didn't want to jump to conclusions.
