She really hoped that there wouldn't be the need for peace offerings from Drake but there was no telling what went on in a cat's mind, maybe he did see Drake as competition for her attention and there was no way of convincing him otherwise. A gift couldn't hurt matters though, if nothing else it might give Samhain something to direct his aggression towards if he felt the need to dig his claws in to something, of course if the cat really did take a disliking to Drake no amount of gifts would change that. Meghan could only hope that it wouldn't end up going that way, she really did want the two to get along because she didn't want to have to choose between spending time with Samhain or Drake, she'd much prefer that they could all spend time together it would make things so much easier for her. She didn't want to end up with an upset cat who decided to shred her clothes or pouncing on her head in the middle of the night as an act of revenge. Meghan would never say no to a trip to the pet store, she would probably end up with a good arm full of cat toys and treats for Samhain if she did go along and that wouldn't be a bad thing, she also wouldn't want Drake getting in over his head as she knew how much choice there could be at the pet store if you didn't know exactly what you were going in for.
Meghan knew that it would take time for him to feel like he belonged with them but that didn't change the fact that she didn't like knowing that he felt that way. She sometimes forgot that she hadn't always been with the pack it was so easy to do when she felt so at home here, it wasn't like that for everyone but it would be nice if it was. She definitely didn't think about the fact that he had come to them from the other pack in the city, it made no difference to her, he was still Drake, and he was still her friend. If there was anyone that had done anything to make him feel like that was a problem then she would be very unhappy with them, it wasn't right to make someone feel like they didn't belong, it shouldn't matter where they had come from before, all that mattered was what they did when they were here. As far as she was concerned he hadn't done anything to prove that he didn't belong. "It wouldn't be very nice at all so I won't try and hide behind him." She pulled a packet of candy from the drawer and tossed them towards the bed without really looking where she was aiming for hoping that she didn't accidently hit either Drake or Samhain. She knew there was more hidden she just had to find it. "It beats going down to the kitchen in the middle of the night, plus this way you know no one else is going to eat it all."

Drake couldn’t begin to guess at what was really going through the cat’s mind when he was around, but he thought that a gift would, perhaps, show that he meant no harm. After all, a little bribery couldn’t really hurt anything, right? Maybe if he found Samhain a toy that he could get a good grip on and attack to his heart’s desire, he could avoid having the cat look at him as a good way of getting out any pent up aggression. He suspected that there would be no saving him if Samhain really hated him, so he was going to have to hope that the cat was simply suspicious and would come to at very least tolerate him given enough time, attention and bribes. If being tolerated was all that Drake could hope for from the cat, he would accepted it, because at least that was better than being loathed and possibly attacked at every turn. He really did hope that they would all be able to spend time peacefully together. He wasn’t expecting for Samhain to become his best buddy and want to hang out all the time, but if the cat would at least come to accept his presence and not be resentful towards him, then it would be a really, really good thing.
Though he hoped that he would come to feel at home with the pack, he hated that there was some small part of him that had the tendency to whisper that it would never happen, that he would always feel like an outsider and that he was just setting himself up for disappointment by staying. That was a little voice that he refused to listen to, though, pushing it as far back as he could and doing all that was in his power to ignore it, insisting that all he needed was a little more time and then he would feel properly comfortable and situated within the pack. He hoped that the longer and more insistently he told himself that, the more likely it was that he would come to truly believe it. Until that happened, he was just going to have to do his best. “Is there anything else stashed that you know you’re going to want?” He would very gladly retrieve whatever she asked him to, but he had to know where it might be if he was going to be able to find it without feeling as if he was spying through her room. “You know, I really might have to see what can be done about putting my own stash together. It couldn’t hurt anything to have one and knowing that some of my favorite snack foods are always around would be nice."

There really was no way to know what went on in a cat's mind, they liked to keep things to themselves and you'd only really find out they were unhappy when they dug their claws in to you or destroyed your things. That didn't mean that bribery wouldn't go a long way with a cat, it was just a matter of finding the right thing to use to get anything close to the results you desired. Anything with catnip in was usually a guaranteed way to get in a cat's good books, though giving catnip to a cat wasn't always wise, it could have disastrous results if you weren't careful. Of course if Samhain really decided that he hated Drake it wouldn't matter how many gifts he gave the cat, all they could do was hope that it would just take Samhain time to warm to his presence and come to accept him as a regular visitor to the room. Cat's could be fickle creatures so there was the off chance that gifts and attention from Drake would win him some affection from Samhain of course there was just no way to know. There really was no telling what may happen as time went on, all they could do was be patient and wait for Samhain to make his own mind up.
Meghan really hoped that Drake would come to view the pack as home, she really didn't want him to continue to feel like an outside because how could he be happy if he felt like he didn't belong. She really did want him to be happy and she would do whatever she could to help him feel like he belonged. It didn't matter what it was if she thought it would help Drake feel at home then she would do it, she really did want him to feel comfortable in the pack because she certainly enjoyed having him around. She hoped he knew that she wanted him in the pack and that others made him feel welcomed to because the more they made him feel wanted and welcome then the quicker he would be able to settle in properly. "I think there might be something stashed in the desk drawer," she told him as she continued to dig around. She really wouldn't have minded if he'd started searching through her room as she had nothing to hide but she understood that some might not like others rooting through their things. "You really should. It is very handy to have things hidden around your room." She pulled another bag of candy from its hiding place and tossed it towards the bed. "It means you don't have to go hunting around in the kitchen when the urge for a snack strikes."

Drake would have to make certain he watched Samhain carefully as he made his attempts at making friends, just so he might see whether or not they were appreciated and going the way he hoped they would. The last thing he wanted to do was make a mistake and just make things worse. He didn’t know if cats were the sort to give someone a second chance, but he really didn’t want to blow it the first time, just in case they weren’t. Though he didn’t know much about cats, he did know that catnip could send them into crazy fits, so he would have to think about it carefully if he was to decide that it might be a good way to make friends with Samhain or not. He supposed that the best thing he could do was find something he thought the cat would like, give it to him, and hope that the cat hadn’t already decided that he just wasn’t worthy of anything more than being hated with a fiery passion.
Though he really did want to be able to think of the pack as home and family, he knew that only time would tell if that would ever actually happen. Feeling as if he belonged, as if he was wanted and welcomed, was something that he hoped that he found eventually, even better if it was there, with the pack. It wasn’t that the others hadn’t been perfectly welcoming, of course- they had been- but he kept finding himself wondering if they were really being so welcoming or if there was something to it that he just wasn’t seeing. Perhaps he really just did need a little more time. Maybe after that, he would feel like he was properly at home. He moved over to the desk and opened it up, rummaging in it just a bit before coming up with a bag of candy. Drake couldn’t imagine digging around in someone’s room, even with them standing right there. “I think I’ll do that. Maybe I should see about getting one of those mini refrigerators, too. It might be nice to have something to drink close at hand to go with any late night snacking I might decide I want to do.”

It would be wise for Drake to keep an eye on Samhain as he went about trying to make friends with the cat, just in case the feline decided to take a swipe at him for it. Meghan didn't think that Samhain would outright attack Drake but it wouldn't hurt to be alert, it was always better to be on the safe side with cats. As far as Meghan could work out cats weren't that big on second chances, once they had formed an opinion on you it was pretty hard to get them to change it, though there were exceptions to every rule and maybe her cat would be one of those, there was just no telling. It was a well known fact that catnip was a powerful drug for all felines, some were sent hyper by it while others ended up in a sort of dozy trance from the stuff, Meghan hadn't really given Samhain that much catnip in the short time that she'd had him so she wasn't sure what his reaction would be. Cats really were a puzzle to work out, there was just no way to know how a cat would react to anything be it a person or a gift, all they could really do was hope that things went their way and not do anything that might upset Samhain whilst he was still deciding on how to take Drake.
She really did hope that Drake came to view the pack as his true family and feel just at home here as she did but she knew that it might take him some time to get there, all she could do was support her friend and let him know that she definitely wanted him there. Meghan couldn't imagine being anywhere else, she knew she belonged here and it never crossed her mind that not everyone would feel the same way. She wasn't one of those that ever suspected people weren't being truthful about the way they felt when they spoke to her, if someone was angry or upset they would say so, she didn't think that anyone would hide their true feelings from the others within the pack but that was just the way she viewed it and maybe that was naive of her to think like that. She didn't think that anyone would act welcoming towards someone if they really didn't like them, it made no sense to act that way, then again there were some people who didn't make sense. She turned to look towards where Drake was rummaging through her desk in time to see him pull out a bag of candy; she sure did have a lot of sugar in the room. Meghan had nothing to hide, she wasn't one to keep secrets from those in the pack, they were family and you didn't keep secrets from family. "I think those mini refrigerators are bad for the environment though, maybe you could get a big cool box that takes those ice blocks instead."

Not wanting to make any mistakes as he tried to gain the cat’s trust and friendship, he had every intention of keeping his eyes open and attention on how the cat reacted towards his attempts. He didn’t know if Samhain would outright attack him or not, but he really didn’t want to take any chances on it. He really wanted to make friends with the cat but if that couldn’t happen, then he was more than ready and willing to accept simply having his presence tolerated. Though he knew very little about cats as a whole, he had heard about the affects catnip could have on them and how it varied from cat to cat, which honestly made him wonder what sort of reaction Samhain would have to the stuff. He knew that he would never completely understand cats, even if he managed to befriend the one that mattered most, and he didn’t expect that anyone really ever would. He would just have to do whatever he could and hope that Samhain accepted not only his gifts, but his presence.
While he knew that there was no way of forcing himself to feel a home with the pack, Drake really rather wished that it was as simple as that, because he would have done exactly that rather than feel as if he didn’t really belong. He had had more than enough of that and was ready to feel comfortable and at home. He knew that that wasn’t something he could do, though, so he very greatly appreciated the efforts Meghan was making. Having a friend was always a wonderful first step, after all, especially one like her, who was so easy to talk to and incredibly comfortable to be around. At least, when she wasn’t saying something that made him blush; things could get a little awkward then, but that was just him. He could, on occasions, get embarrassed rather easily. Still, he got over it and moved on. He looked over the collection of snacks they had as he moved over to add the candy to what had been gathered. “Could you see me carrying big blocks of ice through the hotel as I tried to get it to my room? I don’t think it’s something that would be forgotten any time soon.”

It probably wouldn't be long until Samhain let them know just how he felt about Drake, cats weren't exactly ones to sit back and wait before letting you know how they felt, if a cat was unhappy with you then you'd know about it pretty much straight away. For the moment it seemed as if Samhain was tolerating Drake's presence but all it would take is one false move and that could change to hatred and it was that which they wanted to avoid. Meghan really didn't know how her cat would react to catnip and this was something she was going to have to put right soon, it was important to know how he would react to the substance because if he was going to go loopy it would be better to know sooner rather than later. It was quite possible that no one would ever fully understand cats, they were such mysterious creatures and people had worshipped them in Ancient Egypt, undoubtedly there were people out there that still worshipped them, Meghan liked cats but she certainly didn't worship them. She just wished she knew how to ensure that Samhain would accept Drake but all she could do is make sure she didn't do anything that might displease her cat whilst Drake was visiting.
She knew that it wasn't easy for everyone to feel as comfortable with the pack as she did, not everyone could settle in so quickly and come to view them as family as she had. It would be nice if everyone could do that but it didn't work that way no matter how much Meghan might want it to. She would do everything she could to help Drake settle in, she just hoped that she wouldn't annoy him with her all her efforts. She liked how comfortable things were with Drake, she could talk to him about anything and she hoped it was the same for him. She knew she sometimes said things that made him blush and she didn't really understand that, she didn't think the things she said were something to be embarrassed over but then everyone was different. She stopped searching and turned to view what was already on the pile, anyone would think she had a sweet tooth looking at all the candy on her bed, she was sure there were more savoury snacks hidden around the room, if only she could remember where they were. "Not actual ice blocks, I mean those little plastic ones with the liquid in. It would be amusing to see you carrying big blocks of ice around though."

Had he had more experience with cats, Drake thought he might have stood a better chance of winning Samhain over. As things stood, though, he had no idea as to what he was supposed to do in order to win over a being of the feline persuasion, though he was certainly more than happy to learn not only that, but whatever he could about cats, just so he would be able to better get along with Samhain. Yes, it would also come in handy with the other felines around the Hyperion, of which there seemed to be a few, but it was the one on Meghan’s bed right then that he was most concerned with being able to get along with and be around without getting chased away. So, because he was so concerned with getting alone with Samhain, he would tread carefully and hope that the cat would decide that he really was worth liking. If not that, then hopefully Samhain would, at very least, decide that he didn’t just outright hate him. He could accept that.
Given time, Drake hoped that he would be able to come to think of the pack as family and the hotel as home; he was just a bit gun shy about such things, he supposed, giving that he had now left both his birth pack and then Rayne’s pack. Part of him was almost afraid to get too comfortable, worried that something would happen and he would find himself feeling as if he had to leave yet again. He was certainly hoping that things wouldn’t come to that- it would be nice to have finally found somewhere he could stay, somewhere to call home, a group to, hopefully, someday call family- but there was a part of him that feared that it was only a matter of time before that did indeed happened and he really didn’t want to be too comfortable if it did. It made it so much harder to leave if he was comfortable. “Okay, that makes a lot more sense. I like that thought better than actual ice.”

It didn't seem to matter how much experience you had with cats, you could have been round hundreds of cats but if one didn't like you then none of that mattered. There really was nothing you could do to win a cat over, if a cat decided it didn't like you then that was that, there would be no changing the cat's mind. It didn't hurt to have experience with cats, the more time you spent around cats the more you could try and anticipate what they wanted and what would make them more inclined to like you. Meghan got along with most of the cats that inhabited the Hyperion but there were a few who were a bit standoffish with her but that was just how cats were. She really did hope that Samhain would come to accept Drake; she really didn't want to have to worry about her cat attacking him any time he was in her room.
Meghan really did hope that Drake would come to see the pack as she did, as family, she understood why he was reluctant to accept the hotel as home given his past and the fact that he had left two packs including his birth pack. She would do whatever she could to make sure that he knew he was wanted here; that he wouldn't have to leave another pack and that they could be his family just as they had become her family. Looking towards the pile of food on her bed she decided that they had enough to get them through the movie and went over to where her TV was, pulling the movie from her small rack and getting it ready to play before moving to her bed and settling herself on it. "It does make more sense plus it avoids soaking the carpets with the melting ice." She smiled at him and patted the mattress beside her. "Shall we?"

In the end, Drake knew that all he could really do was try his best to prove to Samhain that he was worthy of being his and Meghan’s friend and hope that the cat would, given time, come to decide that he was, at very least, a decent enough individual to hang out with them. That could, he supposed, be the best he could hope for, though if he got really lucky, perhaps the cat would even come to see him as a friend. There would probably be no buying Samhain’s affections, but Drake intended to pick up a few things the next time there was an outing and see if Samhain would accept them as a peace offering. It couldn’t hurt, after all, and maybe it would show the cat that he really was trying. If he could make the feline realize that, then maybe he could at least stop by to visit with Meghan- and Samhain himself, of course- without having to worry about getting attacked. It would just take time and patience, something Drake understood and was more than willing to give.
It was difficult for him to think of anywhere as home, but he had to admit, it would be nice if he could, someday, come to feel that way about the Hyperion. It was full of so many warm individuals, wolves who, though there had been understandable suspicion at first, had welcomed him into the pack after he was accepted in by the leaders. Having family again would be nice and, someday, maybe that would be how he saw the pack. When Meghan settled herself on the bed and patted the mattress, Drake moved over and sat down, being extremely careful not to disturb Samhain as he did so, not wanting to give the cat any reason to be angry with him. “I’m ready for movie time if you are.”
