“What do you mean today?” Neal asked in a subtly insulted tone as he caught up with Bella, matching her pleased smile with one of his own. “I always have an answer to things. At my age I think it is expected that I know things. Being such a wise old man.” He too was absently taking note of everyone who had passed by recently as they moved, taking comfort from the muted sounds in the hotel – at least nothing terrible appeared to be taking place, something that was always to be cherished.
“Then we shall dress for dinner, like a civilized couple.” He was pleased that she was pleased and any excuse to wear his kilt – even if he was going to have to leave his hat – was always welcome. Neal took her hand and gently tugged her to a stop, turning to face her full on. “In that case may I have the honour of escorting you to dinner tonight?”

Bella sighed 'dramatically', "You're too good at reading between the lines. I'll have to pick up another language if I'm going to keep you guessing it seems," she mused aloud. Than again, Neal spoke many more languages than she, so if she did choose to start learning a new language chances were he'd speak it anyway. Then again she neither was neither keen to start such a project nor was she inclined to actually speak in a way Neal wouldn't be able to understand... until he picked it up himself that was. She shook her head slightly, pulling her thoughts from their tangent back to the immediate conversation, "and hey, you're not that old. If you're old I am too and I don't like the thought of being old much at all."
The light tug on her hand made her blink as Neal moved to stand facing her and she couldn't help but retain her warm smile. Ever the gentleman when it came to her happiness, even during bouts of playfulness she could see that same quality in him that she had recognised upon the night of their escape and more times than she could count since; selflessness. "I would love that." She said gently, squeezing his hand and simultaneously using the connection to pull herself closer to her mate so she could plant a kiss on the edge of his mouth.

“You're only as old as the woman you feel up,” Neal told her seriously, although the twinkling in his eyes revealed how hard it was not to laugh at the outrageous comment. It was something Samson had said a few days ago, the cheeky words sticking in Neal's mind. “And you are young and beautiful and timeless.” Neal wasn't sure how he felt about being as old as he was – for being older than his Alpha's, for seeing so much change and devastation come to the world. Time had not always been a kind mistress.
Despite the ages they had spent together, Neal still felt his heart constrict at the thought of Bella unhappy, still grinned when she was happy, still smiled when she kissed him. His lips curled up now at the feel of her soft lips against the side of his mouth. When it came to her, her happiness made him happy so he wasn't sure if his actions were good or selfish. “Then we have plans.” Neal stood there a moment longer before moving again, his stomach demanding satisfaction.

Gabriel Madden had been entertaining the idea of a little training before breakfast, but merely walking close to the room had informed his senses that the room had already been in use by another member of the pack; the younger, somewhat more volatile fighter called Casey, presumably partaking in a little target practise, if the noises of blades hitting wood with force had been any indication. Instead, the redheaded old male had decided to forego the idea until later; perhaps after breakfast, he could check the room again, and Casey would have shuffled off to another part of the hotel.
Walking along with the practised quiet of a wolf who had been fighting for years and knew the value of stealth, Gabriel listened to the sounds around him, catching the voices of two very familiar pack members around the corner, not far away. Sure enough, as he turned, his blue eyes landed on Neal and Isabella, and Gabriel smiled softly, wondering if he should hang back for a little while to give them their privacy, or if he should simply join them in their journey; he presumed they were headed to the kitchen as well.
After a moment, he decided hanging back was a fraction cowardly, perhaps, and strode forward, casual but respectful as always, greeting Bella first with a dip of his head, and then Neal. “Good morning,” he said to them both, hoping he hadn’t intruded.

"Samson is rubbing off on you." Bella observed, remembering full well where the phrase had come from which probably saved her mate a hearty thump on the arm for it. "I'm not sure whether to laugh or be fearful right to the depths of my soul..." Her head tilted to the side slightly as she spoke so that her temple rested lightly on Neal's shoulder as they walked. She turned her head slightly a moment later as she picked up the presence of Gabriel coming from behind them.
It could be considered a cliché, Bella supposed, but she couldn't really ever think of any of the 'old pack' or even some of the members of the pack at large that had become close in the brunette's mind, as intruding. They had lived together so long, she had known many of them since their childhoods and as private as she knew she could have a tendency of being, with both herself and with Neal, the family atmosphere was one that she hoped was as open as possible; as open as she remembered it being. Within reason, of course, she valued privacy as much as anyone to a certain level, but joining them in the hallway as they walked to the kitchen could hardly count as an intrusion in her mind; Certainly not from one of her oldest friends.
"Good morning, Gabe," she said, acknowledging the male fighter and the dip of his head with a little one of her own, a habit.

“Oh fearful without a doubt,” Neal assured her lightly, enjoying the banter as well as the feel of her head resting lightly on his shoulder as they moved through the familiar corridors. He could sense the other pack fighter and dear friend, Gabriel as he came up behind them, even before he actually greeted the couple. Neal turned as Bella did to look at the other wolf, a welcoming smile on his face.
It didn't occur to Neal to consider Gabe interrupting the pair of them. In his mind, they were all to a degree part of each other, the oldest of friends. They knew how each other worked inside and out and even though at the end of the day when they closed the door to their rooms, if the need arose they could and would enter again. It was just how friendship worked.
“Morning Gabe. Are you risking the hoards to face the kitchen too?”

Gabriel smiled softly once again at the returned greetings; people such as Neal and Bella were permitted to use the abbreviation of his name — ‘Gabe’ wasn’t something he allowed just anyone to use. Falling into step alongside the pair, Gabriel looked to them both, his eyes landing on Neal’s as he responded to the older male’s question, “Well, a man has got to eat.” After a pause, he added, “A wolf, especially.” It was no secret that a lycanthrope’s appetite was heightened, or greater than that of any human’s, but then, it was simply natural for Gabriel, so he had never tried to analyse it in any way. What did it matter?
It was also no secret that the kitchen, in the mornings, could be something of a war zone. But they would be able to brave it. With what they had overcome in the past, a little morning madness beside the refrigerator was nothing. “I’m sure it’s nothing we haven’t seen before,” he imparted confidently. But then, with Samson to figure into the equation, who knew what they might be walking into?
The phrase ‘expect the unexpected’ most certainly applied to life at The Four Seasons.

Neal had seen some strange sights in his time, some good, some bad. Some completely and utterly insane. In more than one instance he had walked into a room, decided he really didn't want to know the hows and whys of the situation inside and walked off. It had come to the point in his life when little would surprise him in a morning and yet even so, he thought Gabe's words overly confident – with this pack, as with any, who knew what would be waiting when they finally stepped through those doors and into the kitchen.
“If worst comes to worst, there are other places to eat than the kitchen,” Neal voiced, remembering fondly how he had come across Bella in the dinning room yesterday. “Although I'm sure the circus will find us eventually, they always do.” He far preferred this type of pack however than the opposite, the insanity and bustle showing only too well the freedoms afforded to each member.

Gabriel was perhaps regretting his choice of words, knowing that they seemed perhaps a little too naïve for someone such as him; they had seen a lot over the years, after all, and some of it was quite spontaneous and inexplicable, when looked back on and analysed. It wasn’t that Gabriel expected danger to be waiting for them in the kitchen, but he knew he should know better than to be so complacent.
“With someone like Samson in the vicinity, the circus is never far away,” he said conversationally with the hint of a smile on his face. It wasn’t far from the truth to say that, so long as someone like Samson was around, there would never be a dull moment.

Continued from: Derrick and Kaleigh’s Bedroom with Derrick
Kaleigh could only imagine what sort of war zone like atmosphere might have taken over the kitchen this morning and to be honest, she was glad they had decided to skip breakfast. She didn’t mind the activity of the pack- it was oftentimes entertaining to see who would do what or make the biggest mess- but this morning, calm and quiet with Derrick was what she was most interested in.
As they walked, she slipped her arm around Derrick’s waist and leaned against him lightly. She didn’t really care if there was someone else on the roof either, so long as she and Derrick could have the peace that they were seeking.

With sly pranksters like Samson and his ‘apprentice’ Kavan on the scene, who knew what was going on in the kitchen? Now that he thought about it, Derrick was sincerely relieved his stomach wasn’t growling. He liked the two other males, but there was only so much enthusiasm and excitement he could take himself, and there was also that concern in his mind that they would bother Kaleigh. Heading up to the roof and lounging together sounded like a much better way to spend the morning. If nothing else, they could just head down closer to the time and have a larger lunch than usual.
As her arm slipped around his waist, he smiled softly, looking down at her as they walked. Feeling her body against his, supportive and reassuring, he gave a content sigh. So far, the morning was shaping up to be a good one, and Derrick could only hope it continued for the rest of the day.

Everyone in the pack had been witness to one of Samson’s pranks at one time or another (he luckily seemed to have favorites to torment and the rest of them could usually get by with simply watching), and ever since Kavan had slowly started to emerge from the shell of silence he had been in upon coming into the pack, things had seemed to get just that much more ‘interesting’. Oh, he wasn’t at Samson’s level yet, but something told her that he someday could be if that was what he put his mind to. He did, however, seem to naturally be a bit calmer than Samson, which was likely a very good thing for the pack as a whole. One pack mate at Samson’s level of pranking and excitement levels was really quite enough.
Giving a soft sigh of contentment, Kaleigh glanced up to Derrick and gave a soft smile of her own. For the most part she could handle the noise of the kitchen in the morning- it was something she had gotten used to- but on a morning like this, enjoying a bit of peace with her mate was exactly what was called for.

Bella laughed as the three of them continued in the direction of the kitchen, her mind briefly reliving some of the more... colourful moments in the time they had been with the pack and most of which were the cause of the rather energetic male wolf. Energetic was actually putting it mildly.
"You better not say that when he's in the room," she said to Gabriel, her hand brushing against her mate's lightly as she walked close by him, the affectionate proximity lacking any real conscious thought behind it; habit led her to brush against him occasionally, "he'll take it as a challenge and the next thing you know there will be elephants in the lobby and he will be trying to convince Kavan to eat fire..."

It wasn’t an exaggeration, in Gabriel’s humble opinion, to say that not only did ‘energetic’ not really cut it when it came to one Greek pack member, but there was probably actually no word to cover his behaviour and personality in general. He deserved a definition all of his own, which would no doubt go straight to his head should Gabriel ever happen to share his thoughts on the matter. His boundless energy was astounding, to say the least. The old male often wondered just how Samson managed.
“I’m sure he’s already tried the latter, perhaps more than once. The elephant, on the other hand, I might actually like to see, if only for the effort he’d put into it.” He chuckled, his mirth sincere and light. The mental image of Samson trying to not only fit an elephant in the lobby but to do so without arousing the suspicion of the pack leaders was perhaps too much for the early hour of the day, but it was a thought that Gabriel entertained all the same, quietly shaking his head.

It was true that the pack prankster had his favourites, and Derrick often made a point of staying out of line of sight, or being otherwise unnoticeable in order to stay out of the ‘crosshairs’, as it were. Samson usually targeted those who would play along though, which actually rather worked in their favour; Derrick and Kaleigh weren’t really known for their bouts of silliness or bursts of laughter after all — at least not beyond the shared privacy of their room — unless there was a specific group gathering where such things might be required or really encouraged, and even then, the former especially was less inclined to join in so obviously. He wasn’t introverted so much as cautious about just how much attention he drew to himself.
Their journey was quiet, and relatively short. They both knew the route so well, having lived in The Four Seasons for so long, that they covered the distance in no time, and without a single wrong turn, obviously. When they reached the stairwell leading up to the roof, Derrick paused to allow Kaleigh to go first, and even when they reached the door at the top, he opened it for her, all little habits that were so engrained on his behaviour, he wouldn’t have been able to stop himself if he even so much as thought about it.
