Continued from Lidochka's Room; with Desya
Lidochka prided herself on being smartly dressed most of the time, but it had become a sort of subconscious thing so that when she dressed there was little effort involved. Her eyes went for complimentary, muted tones and fabrics and she ended up with what seemed like a carefully constructed outfit. A knee length, black skirt and tiny pumps made her look youthful tempered against the navy blue jacket she wore over a shirt.
Her free hand played with a matching blue earring as she went, toying with it absentmindedly as she filtered the trails of the other pack members through her senses. She didn't know if she would ever get used to the heightened smell but it at least told her of the three figures ahead of her somewhere in the corridors.
Neal. Isabella. Gabriel.
Well aware of the... division however quiet it was, Lidochka had not taken a 'side' as it were. She understood the discretion, understood the loyalty aspects of it, all too well she understood and she had not been brought up by arguably the most powerful man in Russia for a time to forget what he had taught her; the nuances of politics. It seemed as though she was taking it too seriously, but she prided herself on hot being foolish enough to take anything too lightly. She respected the current Alphas for the position well enough, but out of duty more than any real emotion, and she was well aware Neal and Bella had been leaders for a considerable amount of time, but the situation was not exactly fluid.
At least as she understood it; the nuances of the lycanthropic world were still able to confound her every so often. So she hung back, even as they came into view, now stroking Desya as he snuggled against her jacket where she held him, she didn't want to interrupt the conversation.

“Now that would be indeed be quite a sight,” Neal remarked quietly, thoughts unknowingly travelling in the same direction as Gabriel’s. Perhaps the scariest part of the whole thing was he could honestly see Samson attempting it. And of course, knowing the younger wolf and his insane ways, managing it. He pulled a face as his thoughts reached their conclusion; “That would be a lot of elephant dung…”
Neal let his hand brush back against Bella’s as they moved, matching her in the need for absent reassurance. Behind them he could sense the Russian she-wolf, Lidochka. It seemed the whole pack was slowly starting to wake up and move around, and he bet most of them were heading to the same destination, the kitchen. He wasn’t sure what he thought about the oh so young Lidochka – she kept herself to herself but he had a feeling somewhere in her was the makings of a good pack wolf.

"Let's not discuss the finer points of keeping an elephant in the hotel before breakfast?" Bella said, though she raised her eyebrows and laughed slightly at Neal's train of though none the less. Samson, no doubt, would find a way around many of the problems such a stunt would entail. Only after she had finished speaking did she half turn to look over her shoulder at the female they had all three no doubt scented.
Lidochka nodded quietly back at the much, much older female but the message was understandable, she didn't want to partake in conversation partly because she didn't wish to intrude and partly because she simply did not generally engage in chit-chat.
A smile and a nod of her own and Bella was facing forwards again. The young Russian kept to herself and seemed to like it that way and far be it for her to encroach upon the self imposed solitude. She seemed a strong enough woman, though the fighter had no clue as to her history. What she did know was that if Lidochka wanted to talk she would do so.

“As you wish,” Neal replied with a faint smile at Bella. She was probably right as well, thinking on the logistics of keeping a pet elephant in the hotel and all the horrors that would come with such an action was not the best thing to be dwelling on when breakfast, hot, delicious food was in his future. And if there was a crowd of people in the kitchen, then Samson was almost bound to be the middle of it, the male wolf having an uncanny ability to seek out people no matter where. The last thing Neal wanted to do was have his mind stuck on Samson and elephants just because he was thinking about them both now.
He didn’t turn around when Isabella did, respecting Lidochka’s desire for privacy – if she wanted to speak, she would and if she didn’t then Bella was the best to acknowledge the other pack wolf and move on. The small group started to near the kitchen, Neal’s nostrils twitching slightly at the mass of scents which rushed out towards him. So many pack members intermingling, some scents older than others indicting that they had been and went. Neal didn’t smell either of the Alpha’s, an unusual but not unheard of occurrence.
The more important mix of scents were the tantalising ones of food, making his stomach rumble hungrily.

Having a pet elephant ‘roaming’ around the hotel would probably only result in one thing: the pack wouldn’t have a home for long. An elephant would make light work of knocking down walls and smashing through doorways. It was a mental image that, while short-lived in Gabriel’s brain, gave him cause for amusement all the same. The redheaded Argentinean simply hoped no one ever got the idea in Samson’s head. They would never hear the end of it.
Like the older male, Gabriel too recognised the absence of the Alphas’ scents, but it didn’t perturb him, or linger in his mind for long. It wasn’t uncommon for Rayne and Dante to vanish for sizeable periods of time. It was their choice, and he made a point of not addressing it, inwardly or outwardly. Every leader was different; Gabriel had no right to judge.
As he caught the smell of food, his own stomach growled quietly, and he watched the path ahead as they neared the doorway.

“Liddy!” The call was gleeful and friendly, Samson recognising the regal Russian she-wolf just by her upside down legs. He wagged a foot at her in greeting, uncaring of the less than sensible nickname – Samson had nicknames for just about everyone in the pack, ones he used when feeling practically… himself. Bouncy. “Catch you later, there is a lot of yummy food about to appear in the kitchen.” Samson didn’t even wait for a response before he was gone, almost tripping over his hands as he increased his speed.
He finally righted himself in order to climb stairs, dancing up them and feeling very good about the world in general. If it were possible, he appeared to be inhaling air as if it was sugar, getting more and more hyped up, the closer to his destination he got.
Finn’s door appeared in his sights, Samson merrily moving right past it without slowing down or changing his course. He wasn’t sure if the door was locked – it was going to be a quick greeting if it was, but Samson wouldn’t let that stop him. Either way, he knew Finn knew he was coming. By moving right past perhaps he had created a sense of ease.
Samson turned sharply on his heel about a hundred meters past the closed door, speed picking up so he was all but charging at it. With a near war cry he burst thought, inwardly happy the door had indeed been unlocked.
“Here’s Saaaaamson!”

Lidochka sidestepped out of Samson's way slightly as he passed her... on his hands. She deigned not to respond -he was already on his way anyway- and instead pursed her lips at the use of 'Liddy', her mind hearing a different voice saying it and a weight descending into her gut at the thought. Pale eyes followed the Greek wolf as he continued on; she knew he meant well, he was harmless really but she stopped where she was. The three older wolves had already entered the kitchen ahead of her, and she was suddenly not feeling so hungry.
Desya mewed from the crook of her arm and she looked down blankly, pushing air past tight lips. Not going back, she had to venture into the bustling kitchen to at least feed the little furball, no matter how moody she was feeling. After another moment on the threshold she ventured in.

Continued from: The Kitchen with Neal and Mateo.
Bella followed Neal out into the hallway, slowly. It would have been fairly impossible not to notice them leaving the kitchen, but the significant glances and extended silent looks had probably filled in enough of the blanks for it to be obvious that there was no need to be at panic stations. Whatever it was that Mateo wanted to speak to them regarding, the female fighter thought that it couldn't be earth shattering, otherwise subtlety would have been almost pointless.
Still, she didn't really know and that was sort of the point. So she folded her arms over her chest and stood alongside Neal with a serious, but not overly so expression on her face, reverting to her default.

Once they were out in the hallway, Mateo looked to the two that he still thought of as his Alphas. Oh, he recognized Rayne and Dante as the pack’s official Alphas, but even while outwardly he respected them enough to get by, he’d never really think of them as his leaders. The fighter thought that he kept that at least partially hidden- he tried to anyway- but if anyone watched him closely enough, they would probably be able to spot the signs that he favored and respected the two who were now in front of him far more than the pack’s actual leaders.
Having never been one to beat around the hedge, Mateo simply went into the business at hand. “Montgomery has defected. Charlotte saw him leaving and went to find someone to tell. She couldn’t find the Alphas or Betas, so she told me when she found me in the courtyard. We went up to his room to check thinking that maybe he had just wanted to get out on his own for a little while, but all of his stuff has been cleared out.”

He had known, to a degree that Drake Montgomery hadn’t been the most happy and comfortable of pack mates in the hotel. Neal just hadn’t realised his discomfort had reached misery levels, that it had grown so bad that the young wolf was willing to leave the security and safety of the pack. That he was willing to leave his family behind and be alone.
For a moment he felt a wave of guilt, feeling as if he should have taken more notice of Drake’s plight, should have talked with him and found out what was wrong and then, if possible, fix it. At the very least he should have made an effort. But that wasn’t Neal’s job or responsibility, not any more. Rayne or Dante should have noticed something was wrong with him… he shook himself mentally, refusing to go down that road of thinking.
“Does anyone else know?” Neal asked, glancing to Bella with a worried expression. Loosing a pack member was always a blow to pack moral, be it a death or an abandonment and he wasn’t looking forward to the fall out.

Isabella's expression grew increasingly concerned; her thoughts were much the same as her mate's, though she didn't really know that of course. Drake had seemed to have difficulty finding a comfortable 'place' in the pack, but like Neal she hadn't really thought it had been as severe a difficulty to warrant his leaving altogether. She gave a tiny silent sigh but didn't speak as the question that had been in her own mind was voice by none other than her mate; it seemed they were very much in tune this morning.
The younger pack mates, those closest to Drake would be hit hardest she supposed, though they would all feel it, leaving one's pack wasn't a light undertaking and the aftermath of something like this would ripple through everyone. She hoped that the Alphas or the Betas would be open enough to lend some support to the youngsters, though without wanting the thoughts even as they came to her, she suspected that not many of them would feel comfortable talking to any of the four leaders. In that moment Bella didn't blame them either, though now wasn't the time to display her anger.

At Neal's question, Mateo gave a shake of his head. "As far as I know, it's just the four of us right now." He didn't know if Charlotte had told anyone or not, but he rather doubted it. Everyone would realize it soon enough anyway because someone suddenly turning up missing didn't go unnoticed for long. Once someone else found out, word was likely to spread and there might even be some questions as to why Montgomery would leave. Mateo didn't personally question it- they all had their reasons for doing what they did and, honestly, if he hadn't had the two wolves before him and the rest of those he had known from the time before they had joined the pack, he thought that he likely would have left himself a long time ago. As it was, he had more reasons to stay than go.

For a split second, Neal felt a surge of anger and resentment towards the leaders of the pack. It lasted mere moments and was gone before he could fully even realise it was there. He couldn’t help but blame them for the loss of Drake, even if was a subconscious wish and one he would never voice or even knowingly think.
“Someone better tell Rayne and Dante… and we better figure out the best way to tell everyone before rumours start,” he said at last, sighing softly and raking a hand through already dishevelled hair. Rumours and gossip spread like the wind in any large group and the pack was no exception – Neal didn’t want people thinking Drake was dead or something equally wrong.

Mateo very seriously doubted that it would come as a surprise to either two of the wolves he was currently with that he was not going to volunteer to go to Rayne and Dante. They knew how he felt about the pack’s actual leaders despite the fact that he tried to keep it pushed down as far as possible in order to keep others from seeing it. Thankfully, it was only those who knew him best who were able to see through his façade, and he knew that they’d never go to the leaders and point it out.
Neal made a good point, though. Someone did need to go to Rayne and Dante and they really did need to spread the word before rumors started to spread. He didn’t particularly care if they did or not, but when something was important to Neal and Bella, it was to him as well, even if it technically didn’t matter as far as he was concerned.

"I'll find Rayne and Dante, or one of them at least." Bella said, smiling briefly at Mateo. Of course she and Neal knew him better than most of the pack; she herself had been in the same pack as he for as long as she could remember and likely he could read her as well as she could read him. If she was perfectly honest she didn't blame him for not wanting to find the pack Alphas, as misplaced as the feelings might have been she felt it was somehow her 'duty' to carry it out. As much as she tried to fight it there was still the weight of responsibility on her shoulders and she knew on Neal's too. Drake might not have been part of the 'inner pack', but she considered the group at large her family now. It was confusing and simple at the same time.
Bella didn't like that. Things were supposed to be clear cut and straight forwards, she worked best when she knew the rules.
