Name: Michael Carrigan
Nicknames: Mike, Mikey, Oh He of the Ugly Clothes (he hates the last two) and he will often simply go by his last name.
Race: Human
Occupation: LAPD Crime Scene Investigator, specializing in hair and fiber
Gender: Male
Skin Color: Caucasian with a noticeable tan
Age: 33
Clothing: Mike is the sort of person who actually prefers wearing suits over jeans, but the dress shirts he chooses to wear show off his rather silly personality quite well. His suits tend to be navy blue, charcoal gray or black (the latter being the preferred color for Mike) and his ties are usually a solid color, though the color could be anything from white to mauve to black and everything in between and around. He does, however, have a blue and green paisley patterned tie that he’ll wear occasionally. Mike’s shirts are as varied as his ties where colors are concerned and he even has a green paisley patterned one. While even he admits that the paisley patterned things are ugly, he still wears them because he likes them. On the rare occasions that he actually wears jeans, they’re always neat and worn with either a polo shirt or a dress shirt and he never fails to throw a sports coat (usually of black or dark blue) over his shirt.
Height: 6’2
Weight: 167 lbs.
Tattoos: None
Piercings: None
Jewellery: A two toned gold wristwatch.
Body Modifications: He has a small scar on the palm of his right hand that he doesn’t remember the origin of.
Hair
Length: Not too long, but not too short. A few good inches all around.
Style: Typically, Mike keeps his hair neatly combed back, but occasionally it seems to take on a life of its own and will spike up a bit in the front.
Color: Brown
Facial Hair
Length: Very short, if he allows it to grow at all. Mike hates facial hair on himself.
Style: Minimal if any at all.
Eyes
Color: Blue
Oddities: N/A
Personality: Mike has always been a fun-loving sort of person, always wanting to keep things as light as possible. While he is extremely serious about his job and what it concerns, as soon as he’s away from a crime scene, he reverts back to his usual self. The one thing that will keep Mike down after leaving a scene is if a child was harmed. He can handle almost anything else, but child victims always leave him quiet and sullen for a while.
Mike is nobody’s sucker except for perhaps Galileo and Aristotle’s, but since they’re kittens, they really don’t count. Mike knows how life works and does what he has to in order to stay on top of the game.
Rumors that Mike is a serial dater have long since been updated to fact. He goes through girlfriends like nobody’s business, but he is a decent enough guy to let them down easy when the time has come for him to move on. He has never kept a girlfriend around for more than a week and, while knowing what that might say about him to others, Mike really doesn’t care. He’s not against finding someone to settle down with- he’d really like to do so someday- but until he does, he sees no reason why he shouldn’t have fun.
Not one to sugarcoat things, Mike calls things as he sees them and isn’t afraid to say just what’s on his mind. He can take as good as he gives and likes it when people tell him exactly what’s on their mind, even if he might argue with it. As far as he’s concerned, everyone has a right to believe what they want to believe, but if someone is wrong and he knows that, he thinks it’s his duty to set them straight.
Mike isn’t afraid to show his emotions, but considering that he’s fairly laid back and knows how to roll with the punches, people are usually hard pressed to find him in anything other than a good mood. There are only a few things that make Mike truly angry and when he gets angry, it’s usually best to stay out of his way.
While Mike doesn’t keep the same woman around for very long, he is actually quite a loyal person. He would do just about anything for his friends and has been known to get extremely affronted on their behalf when someone has done them wrong and they refuse to do anything about it themselves. He’s the sort of guy who wants everyone around him to be happy and isn’t above making a goof out of himself to brighten someone’s day.
His best friend is Tony Fox, who Mike has worked with since early on in his career at the LAPD. Though they’re vastly different where their personalities are concerned, they’ve figured out what makes the other tick and, because of this, Mike keeps a package of cupcake chocolate drops in his locker, just in case he might need to bribe Tony with them. While Mike knows that Tony hates his sense of ‘fashion’ and his revolving door love life, Mike will spare his partner details of the latter, but definitely won’t be sparing him the former any time soon.
Weaknesses: Mike is completely human, and therefore he can be quite easily hurt or killed. He has an allergy to strawberries and ragweed. Mike has also been know to buy some very ugly shirts and ties, which, while not really something that could get him into any real trouble, makes some people wonder if perhaps they don’t need to start picking out his clothes for him.
Abilities: Mike prides himself on being an excellent cook, capable of managing the most complicated recipes rather spectacularly, though he doesn’t actually make this skill widely known. He’s a good shot and can be handy in a fight, but he’s even better at finding tiny bits of evidence at a crime scene. Mike is also a rather good baseball player.
Weapons: Standard issue Beretta.
Prized Possessions: His kittens, Galileo and Aristotle, and his Aston Martin
Galileo (sitting up) and Aristotle
Home(s): A nice apartment on Cole’s side of the city.
History: The youngest of three sons born to Zane and Patricia Carrigan, Mike grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles. He was the typical boy, into sports, cars and the participant in the occasional wrestling match. With two older brothers, Mike learned how to handle himself in a fight fairly quickly, though not because he was fighting with them; they taught him early on how to hold his own because they had always been involved in fights and decided that their baby brother should know what to do in one.
Mike was approximately ten when he discovered his love of science and was soon reading every science journal he could get his hands on in order to learn more. While he made good grades, Mike was actually a class clown. He took his studies seriously but he didn’t want to be serious. He wanted to have fun while he was learning and did what he could to make sure that it happened.
By the time he graduated from high school, he knew that he wanted to study criminology and went to college to do so. While the area as a whole fascinated him to no end, he soon found himself far more interested in hairs and fibers and turned his focus to that. Along with studying to be a criminologist, Mike took up his revolving door dating style, though he didn’t allow that to interfere with his studies, however tempting it was. Almost immediately upon graduation from college, Mike went to the LAPD and soon found himself hired.
Not long after being taken on by the department, Mike was partnered with Tony Fox. The two became friends quickly despite their differences and soon learned how to compliment each other in both the field and the lab, becoming quite the team. Now, settled into the job and with a life as stable as it’s likely to be for a while, Mike finds himself wanting to simply enjoy his existence as much as he can.
