NAME: Alswytha Van Tyle — she took her mate’s last name, and has long since abandoned her own surname altogether, whatever it was.
NICKNAMES: None. Alswytha is too old for such things, and if anyone, only her mate would be allowed to give her any other kind of name beyond the one she was given at birth.
RACE: Werewolf; pureborn.
OCCUPATION: Former Alpha. Currently, she is what would be classed as a ‘rogue’.
GENDER: Female.
SKIN COLOUR: Caucasian, with a slight, noticeable tan.
NATIONALITY: English.
AGE: 1,439, though she looks in her late-thirties, physically.
CLOTHING: Very much like her mate, Alswytha is adaptable to the times, and it shows through in her day-to-day attire. She has changed with the trends easily, and her clothing also shows the hints of feminism, even if she can be as bestial as any other werewolf, and as brutal as any worthy fighter. She prefers fitted jeans, and shirts and tops that don’t hang off her slender frame. Whenever she wants comfort instead of style, she tends to wear slacks, and something more casual; something like a strapped vest with an unbuttoned blouse/shirt over the top. In terms of footwear, she likes boots, but never with too much of a heel. As a werewolf, the cold doesn’t particularly bother her, but she knows a coat is necessary sometimes, and has a knee-length black cloth one that she wears, as well as a brown leather jacket that only reaches her waist. She has a single piece of jewellery, which is a white gold chain and simple pendant around her neck; it was given to her by her mate, Gareth, a long time ago, and she never takes it off — it basically symbolises their being mates, like a wedding band would.
HEIGHT: 5’9.
WEIGHT: 138lbs.
TATTOOS: None.
PIERCINGS: None.
JEWELLERY: None, save for the chain and pendant, which she never takes off.
BODY MODIFICATIONS: She has a fair few scars, given her age and species; she’s been in her share of fights, and has the physical evidence to show for it; they are mostly on her back, and stomach, given her agility in wolf form, and the ability to dodge with ease.
WOLF FORM.
BUILD: Slender but strong, with subtle muscle and definite toning throughout the limbs and torso. Her head is extremely wolfen, and she lacks a tail, but she has incredible balance and agility all the same. She is streamlined and powerful without being stocky, and her arms are long enough to be classed as ‘eerie’, with fingers that seem almost stretched, tipped with wicked claws. Her muzzle is very lupine, and packed with strong teeth.
HEIGHT: 7’5 when bipedal, and 4’6 when quadruped.
WEIGHT: 290lbs.
HAIR: Grey-brown in colour, and covering the majority of her body. It’s rather thin, but protective all the same.
EYES: Silver-white; very bright, and pupil-less.
DEFINING MARKS: No tail, and long arms/forelegs and fingers.
PACK.
PACK: None, at the moment, but if she has her way, this will change, and soon.
POSITION: Intended Alpha.
TERRITORY: For the time being, nothing, as territorial as she is about anything she classes as her own. She and her mate live on the outskirts of Los Angeles until they can regain some of the power they had, in the form of a pack.
HAIR.[/i]
LENGTH: Below her jaw, and just a couple of inches down her neck; there are shorter layers all around, the shortest of which is around her eyes and cheeks, and usually tucked back.
STYLE: Naturally curled, and brushed through to keep it tidy and presentable.
COLOUR: Dark auburn. In low lighting, it can seem simply a rich brown.
FACIAL HAIR.[/i]
LENGTH: N/A.
STYLE: N/A.
EYES.[/i]
COLOUR: Green.
ODDITIES: Like her mate (and all other lycanthropes), any extreme emotions or teases at her wolf will allow her supernatural eye colour to show through. At the best of times, she has a very slight, off-white rim around the edges of her pupils, stemming from age, and the way in which she embraces her wolf.
PERSONALITY: In her earlier years, Alswytha was a kind, sensitive, compassionate and understanding Alpha; in the prime of her life, and very tuned in to the world around her, and its occupants; her love and concern was for the pack, and she thrived in the role of dominant female. She revelled in being a shoulder for others to cry on, and a figure of support and strength. Of course, when her mate started to lose his hold, she wavered, and it showed. She actually became timid, confused by the actions of her lover, and the pack suffered; when a bad decision nearly resulted in several deaths within the werewolf family unit, her mate was challenged for leadership. So thrown by this challenge, Alswytha simply… let it happen. Naturally, when it was all over, and their leadership had been stripped, she developed a bitter streak that she had not possessed before. In her eyes, something that was very much theirs had been taken away from them, and she did not take kindly to that… and neither did her wolf.
Over the years that followed, the former Alpha female developed more negative traits; she became much more territorial, and jealous, not inclined to let any female favour Gareth with a gaze, or pleasant words; he belongs to her, and she isn’t afraid to remind people of that, no matter their species. She is calculating, precise and very cunning… and actually, now, rather selfish. What Alswytha wants, Alswytha gets, and she no longer takes no for an answer. She knows she has power over her mate, Gareth, and abuses that, using it to get her way.
More than anything, Alswytha wants a pack again. She misses that leadership, and the responsibility that came with it. After losing it, she lost some of her own mental stability; she had never been without a pack, and suddenly being with only Gareth, Alswytha wasn’t quite sure how to handle that. And she didn’t… at least not completely. She is so bound and determined to have a pack again, she has started to listen to whisperings from her wolf; for many years, the powerful creature within has been telling her that, quite possibly, Gareth is not the best choice for a fellow leader… she is coming to realise that maybe, just maybe, she needs to break the age-old tradition; perhaps mating for life isn’t such a good choice when that mate isn’t quite as reliable as he needs to be…
But at the same time, Alswytha is so used to Gareth, and being his mate, that it is possible she couldn’t be without him. She knows he weakens the strength they need to have together, but… a large part of her loves him so much, and depends on him for familiarity, that losing or getting rid of him could break the hold she has on her own sanity altogether.
WEAKNESSES: Like all others of her kind, Alswytha cannot abide silver, and the element is toxic, even deadly to her. She knows by now to stay away from it, and can almost ‘sense’ it when she steps into a room; she can smell it, presumably. Above all else, Gareth’s love for her is something she treasures, and despite her doubts, she could not bear to lose it. Her wolf, and her human side along with it, is so accustomed to that devotion and loyalty that, even with her intentions, Alswytha is as bonded with Gareth as he is with her; she knows she can never escape that. Gareth’s madness has also tainted his lover, and her sanity is not quite what is used to be. She holds much of the strong personality she had in younger years, but in recent decades — or centuries, rather — she has allowed his mental state to affect her, making her slightly… ‘unhinged’, and more reckless than she used to be. Alswytha can also be so stubborn, her determination to get her way blinds her. Her yearning for a new pack could also cloud her true judgement.
ABILITIES: Alswytha has all the werewolf perks: speed, strength, agility, grace, awareness, senses off the charts, pain threshold, healing factor and the ability to change to and from her wolf form with ease and practised swiftness. The full moon has no affect on her. Also, as a result of her age, as well as the ‘harmony’ she shares with her wolf, she has inherited the rare ability to ‘communicate’ with other lycanthropes in wolf form, with a sort of ‘telepathy’ that allows her to speak with them mentally, unhindered by the language barrier her kind face when in wolf form. With experience has come a tactical knowledge becoming an Alpha, as well as a high level of skill when it comes to combat; Alswytha is highly proficient in hand-to-hand, and bladed combat, and is a very good shot with a firearm. She prefers blades, or fisticuffs, but really, favours fighting in wolf form. Given her age, Alswytha has other skills, including an array of languages in which she is fluent, a very good memory, and an Alpha-ship under her belt; she knows how packs work, and can plan around that with ease.
WEAPONS: Alswytha is fond of blades, but she also carries a pair of guns. She has two combat daggers, and an elegant sword, as well as the aforementioned pair of guns; Berettas, specifically.
PRIZED POSSESSIONS: The necklace from Gareth, her mate (though she is somewhat conflicted, and doesn’t really understand her devotion and its extent anymore), and his love for her. She treasures nothing else, other than her dream to have a pack once again.
HOME(S): An old apartment complex outside of L.A., with Gareth.
HISTORY: Alswytha was born into the pack she came to lead, rising up through the ranks by being reliable, compassionate, strong and dependable; she was a perfect example of an Alpha female, and becoming mates with a powerful, responsible male by the name of Gareth Van Tyle, it was only a matter of time before they took their rightful place in the pack. When the former Alpha male was killed in combat, Alswytha supported Gareth, and rose with him into the role of leadership. Together, they led the pack steadily, and managed to keep it protected, strong and comfortable… until something happened to one of their youngsters before his first change. When the young male vanished for no reason, and was later recovered, wounded and with no memory of what had happened to him, Alswytha could only watch as her mate, for lack of a better term, panicked. His concern for the welfare of their pack became top priority, but more than that, he let himself be blinded by it, and went too far. It took years for a bad mistake to really affect the pack, but when it did, it rocked the stability of the group; their Betas wolves were killed, along with many fighters, and Gareth only got worse.
Again, it was only a matter of time before their leadership was challenged. And it was. The same male who had vanished inexplicably in his childhood had claimed his late father’s Beta male role, and subsequently challenged Gareth for the position of Alpha. Alswytha, so unused to being challenged, even through her mate as this was, simply stood by as the two males fought, viciously, and seemingly for hours. She watched as Gareth was defeated; so exhausted he could barely hold himself up. Even then, she stood by him, and helped him to leave the pack they had struggled so hard to build and support. Though it broke her heart to do so, she knew her place was with the mate she had devoted herself to, and so, she left the pack as well… her wolf refused to sink back in the pack’s ranks, as it was, though she never uttered a word to Gareth about that, not wanting to make matters worse.
Her mate’s grip on his sanity slipped even further, and he lost the warmth for the world he had once held. Alswytha followed him in this aspect as well, but managed to keep her mental health mostly in check… mostly. She stayed with Gareth, having not known anything else for over one thousand years, and they wandered, trying to find a new place for themselves… and frankly, never having any luck.
Now that the two have caught up with their old pack in Los Angeles, Alswytha is starting to truly listen to her wolf, and its cautious whispers; it keeps telling her that Gareth could threaten the new pack she wants for them both, and if she truly wants power, and dominance in this new age… then maybe she needs to change a few things.
