Continued from: Break Room with Miles
She gave him a brief but bright grin as he greeted her and moved out of the break room to the thankfully quiet and empty hallway. For all Blu knew she was making a big deal out of nothing and Flynn would walk through the door late, sorry and completely confused as to why anyone was worried about him. She really hoped that would happen – this was one of the few times that Blu wanted to be wrong, but there was that lingering feeling that something bad had happened, because this was so outside the norm it had left the solar system.
“Flynn didn't come in for work and I called but he's not answering.” She bounced nervously on her heels as she spoke, chewing lightly on her bottom lip. Part of her felt as if she betraying her friend, should he simply be late. “Flynn's never late.”

“He's always at work when he's supposed to be...” Blu trailed off, chewing on her lip for a few moments more as she thought. An idea came to her and she looked up through her fringe at the detective, a gleam in her eyes. “He helps out at the youth centre and sometimes he works with the local orphanage... but I don't see why he would be there instead of here.”
“I'm coming too,” Blu demanded, fixing Miles with a pleading stare. If he said no then she was perfectly prepared to kick his shins until he gave in – although even with her clunky boots on, in her current ill state she would hardly do any damage or cause pain to Miles. At best, she might get a token 'ow' from him, more pointed than actual pain. That didn't mean she wouldn't go through with it though, Flynn was her best friend and she couldn't just sit tamely in the station while Miles went off looking for him.
She had to do something to help or she would go crazy with worry.

“Yes Sir, Mr. Miles, Sir!” Blu mock saluted him with a broad grin on her face. “Listening to every word you say, Sir!” It wasn’t often she got her own way in things like this and she was determined to enjoy it while she could. The young technician wasn’t stupid – she was well aware that not only could Flynn be in danger or hurt and she might see something unpleasant, but also that she would potentially be in danger by going with Miles instead of staying safely in the station.
The only way she could see to getting through something like this was to smile and be as happy as possible. And at least on the front line she could see with her own eyes what was going on. She leaned into the hand on her shoulder for a moment, drawing some comfort that something was being done to look for her friend.
“After you Sir.”

Continued from: Upstairs Offices – Anti-Crime Division with Quinn
Valin had just been the first name to topple out of Richie’s mouth, the Detective having no real preference as which of the names he used either. He was sure that he would use the first and last names with about regular occurrence until he had settled into some kind of working rhythm with his new partner and came to a choice as to which of the names he preferred and which just worked better in his mind.
Richie looked around the hallway they were walking down, idly whistling the Imperial March as he went. It was simple habit, along with his seemingly endless supply of lollypops that were downed in a rather impressive rate. “I’m sure I’ll get along fine. I only failed my navigation scout badge oh, five times. Damn squirrels,” he answered.

“Squirrels,” Richie agreed solemnly, apparently deadly serious. “Me and squirrels, we go a long way back man. Little grey rats always out to get me. That and pigeons. Again with the grey creatures now I think about it. Conspiring against me to make me look stupid.” He could talk for hours about any subject, even something as random as squirrels and their partner in crime – the pigeon. The detective was full of stories and even in his angry at the world state of mind he couldn’t help but share some of them.
“Squirrels set up a secret nest in the tree in my back garden while I was growing up. They did it while I was away at camp, I come home, climb it and Bam! Bitten hand. Fell on my ass out the tree. Had to have shots, not sure what for, maybe to make sure I didn’t have rabies. Often wondered what it would be like to have rabies. Or if I actually have it anyway; insanity is one of the symptoms right?”

Richie was pretty sure he still had the scar on his finger somewhere from where he had been bitten by the squirrel, although it was faded and needed the light to catch it at just the right moment to even see the slight indentation of skin that signified the scar. It had been a very minor incident in his life, but the way he spoke of it – the way he spoke of most things – it was a dramatic turning point.
“Well, if I ever start foaming at the mouth and freaking out at the sight of water you’ll know I really do have rabies. And uh… no actual cure for it once it reaches that stage which bites… oh well, at least people who are insane tend to be happy. Or… homicide. Hmm… rabies bad.”

“Skunks?” Richie inquired with a mischievous sort of smile curling on his lips. “Did something happen between you and a skunk? Oh, wait, don’t tell me…” He half closed his eyes and lifted his left arm, waving his hand about, finger’s clasping at thin air as if he was reaching for something else. “I’m seeing a little baby Quinn… you’ve got nice hair as a kid, lots of luscious locks… and a big angry skunk.”
The detective fully opened his eyes again, hand dropping back to his side as he looked at Quinn with something akin to respect. “Quinn vs. The Skunk… now that would have a been a sight worth seeing.”

“A sight to be viewed from a great distance, possibly through binoculars and certainly in some kind of smell proof protection,” Richie amended, still mentally amused by the idea of Quinn trying to ‘make friends’ with a skunk. The look on his face would have been priceless. Absently he reached into his pocket, rubbing two empty wrappers together, half listening to the crinkling sound.
It was relaxing more than anything, a habit formed over many years and one he had never been able to shake. Richie had half a suspicion that if he was ever able to kick his sweet habit he would even up smoking again and coughing up his lungs was not how he wanted to spend his time. There were far better ways to kill ones self, if you were so inclined.
