Gareth’s idea intrigued her as she felt his growl in his chest; deep and powerful. She knew the rage that flowed within him, and how he would let nothing stand in his way if he thought there was a good chance of getting revenge for the defeat. And if he saw a chance, and took it, then Alswytha wouldn’t hold back; she would follow at his side, as she had done for centuries. She had no qualms with Stanton’s mate, per se, but she wouldn’t hesitate in putting the younger female in her place, if it came down to it…
“I think that would be wonderful…” she all but purred, letting her head rest back against his broad shoulder. If nothing else, simply reminding the ‘leaders’ that their predecessors were still very much alive… it would be worth the potential risk of strolling right into the heart of their territory. Besides, it wasn’t as if the two old wolves couldn’t handle whatever Stanton and his mate could throw at them.

Gently, he settled his chin atop her head and allowed himself to growl once more, a bit more noticeably. He mulled over their options for that night, smirking lazily to himself; he could take back his pack, if he wanted to. He'd changed since his defeat, become more ruthless, less worried about 'fighting fair.' But, perhaps it would be nice to start from scratch.
"We'll hunt tonight," he told Alswytha in a low voice. "Let our wolves run free, and perhaps find what we're looking for, too. And then, not necessarily today, we can check in on dear Cole and his brood. But I'd say scouting new recruits should be our first priority."

A hunt… the animal within her practically wriggled with excitement, giving an eager whimper of a sound. Half of her lived for the hunt; the thrill of the chase and the almost electrifying rush of the capture and kill. Leaning back into her mate’s strong body, she felt his arms around her, and the tension in his frame. She recognised it easily as a sign that he was looking forward to the hunt himself.
“I can’t wait,” she murmured sincerely, closing her eyes and imagining what they could accomplish in a single night, filled with energy from the full moon. “The possibilities are endless,” she continued, letting the different scents fill her mind and filter into categories, almost; vampire, werewolf, human…
“Gareth…” she began, voice quiet but determined. “Our new recruits… should we find wolves already bitten… or make some ourselves?” Her eyes slowly opened, but she did not look up at him. It had been a question that had circled her mind for some time now, and she could only think of the potential that newly turned wolves might have, but at the same time, the problems it could cause.

Ah, a good question. Already turned wolves would probably be easier. Less chance of rebelling, or going made with their first Change. But creating new wolves...it was tempting. There was indeed potential there, if Gareth and Alswytha chose to sire their own pack. The loyalty would be undying and fierce.
Well, if they survived the turning.
"I don't know, dear," he rumbled pensively. "Turned wolves would be easier, I think, if we want to start right away. But, maybe if we find a human with true potential..." He let the sentence hang.

“Hmm…” She let the idea turn over and over in her calculative mind, weighing the pros and cons just as carefully as Gareth was. “We could always try both. If the humans we find… the ones with true potential… survive the turning, then they’ll prove themselves to be worthy pack members. But if we can find enough already turned…” She let her own sentence hang as well, biting her bottom lip gently at the prospect.
The promise of the hunt was filling her with an almost childlike excitement; she just wanted the day to be over, and for the moon to rise again. Her wolf paced within her, seeming to ask frequently if it could be allowed out yet. Reminding it, each time, to be patient, she nestled back against Gareth, feeling the sunlight on her face.

"Mmm -- sounds like a plan." One of his hands idly stroked along his mate's side and he took in her scent. He could feel her excitement, barely there, but enough to send his own wolf into restless pacings. Gareth could wait. Centuries had made him patient, but the promise of violence and the hunt, and of finding a new pack was almost too much.
"Come, love." He took a few small steps backwards, tugging Alswytha with him as he murmured to her, "How about we rest up for tonight, hmm? It might make the day go faster."

Allowing herself to be tugged without letting it seem like a meek, submissive movement, Alswytha followed Gareth away from the ledge, and towards the doorway that would permit them entry back into the building they had come to call their home. There was another, adjoined building, from which she could pick up the heavy stink of vampire, but that could wait. They were not her concern, for now. If they proved bothersome, she would destroy them, with her mate by her side.
“Very well,” she agreed, giving him that definite, verbal confirmation of her acknowledgement, even nodding her head. They had been awake all of the previous night, so the rest would certainly refresh their energy for the night to come, if nothing more.

Something that could have been a smile tugged at one corner of Gareth's mouth. The ancient wolf had never really been one to smile since his demise, unless his mate was the one soul around. Even with Alswytha at his side, the expression never quiet reached his eyes.
"It will be a good night," he murmured to her as they made their way from the rooftop. "A good hunt."
