The tinny ringing of her cellphone cut through the soaring strings of Stravinsky's Firebird Suite and Isabel groaned. The little silver phone began buzzing on the coffee table. Isabel glared at it from her comfy chair. Work, or R&R? It wasn't like she needed the cash this month...
But, then again, it never hurts to have a little extra.
"Oui?" the half-vampire snapped into the phone when she finally answered.
"I have a job for you, Bloom..."
She listened as the particulars were laid out; target info, time, and most importantly, cash. Normally, she wouldn't take a job for less than twenty grand, but in this case...well, she felt generous. "I'll have their fangs, if you'll have the cash," she told the informant with a smirk. "I don't charge extra for the bloodsuckers."
Twenty minutes later, she glanced at herself in the mirror. A dark wraith, dressed in black from head to toe and armed to the teeth. Isabel grinned and her brown eyes flashed a wicked crimson as she headed out the door. Time to wake the night...

Isabel slammed the door hard enough to rattle a few paintings from her walls. Her helmet was off in a flash and thrown onto her couch. She stormed into her kitchen with a murderous intent and tore open the door to her fridge. Cold synth blood was disgusting, but it was better than having to go out and hunt. There was no telling whether or not she'd be able to find the proper kind of prey; Isabel, unlike many of her kind, refused to feed from innocents.
Irritably, the half-vampire into the blood pack and ignored the way the cold liquid slithered down her throat. It was nourishment. She didn't eat it for the flavor. Growling at nothing, she stormed into her bedroom and set aside the half-drained packet to strip and change into an oversized footbal jersey. The thing belonged to someone down the hall; one of the more tolerable humans. A nice guy, really. They talked, on occasion (well, he talked; Isabel flirted) and she rather enjoyed his company. She just couldn't remember his name.
No matter. She returned to nursing the blood pack and perched herself on the window seat. A glance to the clock showed that she had another thirty minutes before she would need to check her account balance online. This would either be a good night, or she would have to go out on another hunt to track down that two-timing rat. And perhaps get some fresh blood from it, as well...

That hunt was fortunately -- or perhaps unfortunately -- not needed. She found that the money had been wired to her account. Despite the scrapes and bruises, there was nothing like a good, large sum of money to make one's night worthwhile. So, Isabel was happy.
Bored, but happy.
Exceedingly bored, actually. The half-vampire pondered her predicament from her sprawled position upon her bed: she could either run through the routine of shower, changing, and generally getting all dolled up to go out for the remainder of the night. Such activity would most assuredly earn her a little...entertainment. But it required being productive. Isabel didn't feel like being more productive than was absolutely necessary, which was why she decided to merely throw on her workout clothes and head down to the gym.
Time always flies when you're knocking the stuffing out of something. Or someone.

"Somebody's been busy."
Isabel whirled, preparing to strike at when the gravelly voice whispered down her ear. "Whoa!" Skid yelped, laughing, and dodged out of the way before he could be bludgeoned. "Easy there, spitfire."
The half-vampire glowered at her werewolf friend, but it was a half-hearted gesture. "You know better than to sneak up on me like that. Could get you shot, one of these days."
"I'll take my chances."
Vampire and wolf stared one another down for a few short moments. Isabel took note of the light cologne that clung to her friend's skin and couldn't help but take in a deeper breath. He always smelled good. "What do you want, Ian?" she asked in a low voice.
Ian gave a one-shouldered shrug and stepped forward, reaching out to tuck a loose tress of hair behind her ear. Isabel didn't protest when he closed the distance between them, nor did she complain when he pressed his mouth to hers. Ian pressed her back carefully against the closed door of her apartment as the kiss changed, deepened; Isabel reciprocated by biting at his lip. The wolf gave a short growl that Isabel returned while she fumbled with the doorknob. They fell over the threshold when the door finally opened and Ian slammed it shut again with his foot.
Well, atleast I'm not tired anymore, Isabel thought as she guided Ian to the bedroom.

Waking was a slow process, as usual; much groaning and growling. When Ian finally pulled his head from the pillow, it still took him another few moments to actually open his eyes. Another moment passed before he realized that, oh yeah, he'd stayed with Isabel last night. The half-vampire was sprawled peacefully beside him and, before he slipped out of bed, the elder wolf smiled and kissed her on the forehead.
It didn't take too terribly long for him to find his clothes, despite their being scattered rather sporadically around the room. He was just pulling on his shirt when he heard her groggy voice from the bed, "You skippin' out already?"
With a lazy smile, he turned and Izzy's rich, brown eyes bore into him. "Gotta run, chickpea," he told her, moving to kiss her again. "Things to do - "
"People to scam," she finished with a sleepy chuckle. His kiss was returned lightly and then she flopped her head back into the pillow. "Yeah, yeah...you be careful, Skid."
"Will do, babe."
As Isabel dropped back off into an easy sleep, Skid shuffled out of the apartment and down the hall. Not that he had much work to do today; his last 'job' had left him with a fair deal of cash. But, it never hurt to have a surplus. However, first, he needed coffee.

When Isabel finally crawled out of bed, yawning and shuffling, Skid's scent had long faded and she was definitely alone. Which was fine by her. She liked her mornings quiet; made it easier on her sleep-addled brain. She was alert enough to skirt her way around the shaft of sunlight that pierced through the not-quite-closed curtains of her bedroom window. Sunlight wouldn't char her like more 'pure-blooded' members of her kind, but it definitely stung. It took a bit of artful manouvering, but she managed to tug the curtains completely shut and walked away with just a light welt across the back of her hand.
"What I wouldn't give to be human, sometimes," she grumbled on her way out to the kitchen.
A quick breakfast was prepared and consumed, just some eggs on toast, and then Isabel shrugged on a clean, cropped-off t-shirt and loose dancer's pants that flowed easily around her legs. Yesterday had just been some light, lazy practice; nothing too strenuous. Today would be a different story. With her satin pointe shoes in one hand and her keys in the other, Isabel slipped from her apartment, locking the door behind her before she made the familiar trek downstairs.

Now showered and somewhat refreshed, Isabel still had a bit of a problem. She was stuck. Daylight was the worst for her, another reason why she cursed her half-breed blood. Going out during the day wasn't impossible, but without the proper coverage, she would end up with some serious burns over her body, which was never fun.
"Merde," she growled, picking up her phone for the umpteenth time. Of course, no one had called in the past five minutes. Damn. Lethargy took over again, and hey, most vamps were nocturnal-ish, so why fight it? Isabel grumbled to herself as she snatched the light afghan blanket from the back of her couch and curled it around her frame. She made herself comfortable, glanced to the clock for a moment, then sighed before trying to catch a few more winks.
