NAME: Adrienne Dove.
NICKNAMES: Though she is very fond of her full name, and the pretty femininity of it, more often than not the pack tends to call her 'Addie' for short, and she's perfectly happy with that too because of the affection in the shortening but occasionally likes it secretly when she gets to hear someone say her full name. In broader terms, she and her twin sister, Myra Dove, are often times referred to as 'the twins'.
RACE: Werewolf; pureborn.
OCCUPATION: Pack Member; Rayne's Pack.
GENDER: Female.
SKIN COLOUR: Caucasian, noticeably pale.
AGE: 254, though physically she looks to be in her mid to late twenties.
CLTHING: Adrienne's wardrobe mainly consists of summer dresses and skirts, blouses and wraps, in floral prints, pastels and soft earthy tones; she is very obviously a vintage clothing sort of girl, and has a lot of accessories from the 60s and 70s that she likes to play around with. Knee socks, cardigans and hand-sewn skirts, Addie is about as likely to sew her own things as she is to buy them. There’s something extremely innocuous about her sense of dress but at the same time eye catching, it's hard not to notice a girl with bright red hair wearing a yellow summer dress and white knee socks.
HEIGHT: 5'7"
WEIGHT: 136lbs
TATTOOS: None.
PIERCINGS: Adrienne only had her ears pierced and occasionally they tend to heal over because she forgets to put earrings in, luckily she has quite a few pairs of clip on earrings for when that happens.
JEWELLERY: When it comes to jeweller Adrienne has rather a lot, she actually collects anything and everything she can find that features doves, birds aren't specific enough but if it has a dove on it she's more or less instantly enamoured by it.
BODY MODIFICATIONS: Adrienne has a mixture of scars obtained through months at the mercy of a male wolf in her past; largely they seem to be medical-like cuts and scars, methodical and precise and only the ones in silver remain truly visible on the insides of her upper arms. That said, she feels the ghosts of those scars, breaks and bruises all over her body.
WOLF FORM.
BUILD: Adrienne and Myra possess matching wolf forms, they are the same height, weight and build being very small and lithe, quick and with the potential to be wicked given their razor sharp jaws and their claws. Well suited to rocky terrains with dexterous paws and a tail for balance.
HEIGHT: 4'6, bipedal. 3'2, quadruped.
WEIGHT: 204 lbs.
HAIR: White all over, her fur is quite soft actually and much more lush around her neck and throat where a protective, if slightly shaggy mane of white hair protects the more vulnerable parts of her wolfen body. The thicker hair seems to taper out to her 'elbow' joints, almost like a jacket.
EYES: Pale yellow.
DEFINING MARKS: Extremely sharp and prominent claws, a black nose and a tail.
PACK.
PACK: Rayne's Pack.
POSITION: Member.
TERRITORY: Rayne's territory; roughly half of Los Angeles.
HAIR.
LENGTH: Quite long, she wears her hair past her shoulders and hasn't cut it save for having the ends trimmed for decades.
STYLE: Natural; Adrienne doesn't generally take the time to sit with hair dryers or straighteners and her hair tends to hang in its natural kink around her shoulders, she also has a bangs that flop over her forehead.
COLOUR: Red.
FACIAL HAIR.
LENGTH: N/A.
STYLE: N/A.
EYES.
COLOUR:Green.
ODDITIES: Adrienne's eyes will wane the colour of her wolf when she is feeling a powerful emotion, agitated or fearful or simply to taunt or tease.
PERSONALITY: Sweet, kind and innocent, boarding on naive, are most likely the words that would be used to describe Adrienne Dove by anyone who knows her; an all round 'nice' person who rarely raises her voice and almost never swears. There isn't much if anything that can actually cause the redhead to lose her temper. Sort of countering the cliché about women of her hair colouring she has a very long fuse, seemingly infinitely patient and caring, and she has an almost ethereally benevolent air about her. Indeed over the years both she and her twin have been described as 'spooky' or even 'eerie' to be around, which is to say that they are such things as much as individuals as they are when they're together; they tend to finish one another's sentences, even when entering into conversations later than their twin and with no apparent knowledge of what is being discussed, Adrienne is particularly physically affectionate towards her twin as well, often holding her hand, or playing with her hair, or even just leaning her head against Myra's shoulder, displays of physical affection are both reassuring and comforting to her. When it comes to Myra she is fiercely protective and it's largely the only instance where she can be expected to go to any lengths to protect, even killing in order to save her sister. This could be a possible reason for the assumption that Adrienne is the older of the twins, they actually don't know which of them was born first, and it doesn't matter to either of them, but instead of saying as much they often, nowadays, simply accept whatever others what to think regarding their age. Myra is her sole focus, indeed, Adrienne seems wholly unaware or unconcerned by the tensions in the pack to everyone outside of her twin sister, really she is aware of it, but she chooses not to get involved with it.
While she can be described as a homely girl, someone who enjoys making life comfortable for herself and others, cooking and sewing and quiet activities like reading and writing, Adrienne does have a surprisingly fierce streak that largely comes up when her sister is directly or indirectly threatened, it's something that could grow to encompass the whole pack over time were things to change for the better, but when stress and worry comes around Adrienne always focuses in on her twin more than anyone else and she can develop a restless edge, as if she's ready to grab Myra by the hand and run at any moment. Her friendship and loyalty is something that is earned and easily destroyed if she is betrayed; she would like to have faith in everyone she meets but that was the way she and her sister ended up tortured for months on end and she knows she can't afford to be that trusting any longer.
WEAKNESSES: Like all of her kind Adrienne is allergic to silver, in close proximity it causes nausea and disorientation, and on contact it burns the skin. In the bloodstream it kills. Myra is a huge weakness for Addie, one that can be exploited very easily; she would quickly and easily lay down her life for her twin sister, who has been the single most important constant in her life, she would kill for her if she had to, there is nothing too extreme for her to do when it comes to Myra's safety and everyone knows it. Adrienne is not a fighter, she will act on pure instinct if she has to but she can't really throw a punch with any great effect and when cornered could easily panic.
ABILITIES: It's obvious that both twins are gifted musically; Adrienne herself plays the piano, harp and guitar and can sing very well, they have written numerous songs both together and apart and frequently sing and play together. Adrienne is also a published author; under a pen name she had a book of poetry printed which has done relatively well her great personal embarrassment. Thankfully the pack Alphas have been oblivious of her efforts and she hasn't actually confessed ownership of the book to anyone but her twin, who knew about it from the get go. Adrienne can cook and sew and accomplish various other chores thanks to her early life. Given her age she is now able to control her wolf at the full moon. Other supernatural abilities granted by her wolfen nature include strength, speed, stamina and the capacity to jump large distance and even scale walls, Adrienne’s senses are all heightened as well as her reflexes.
WEAPONS: None. Adrienne isn't a fighter in any sense of the word and wouldn't know what to do if you put a weapon in her hand.
PRIZED POSSESSIONS: Myra. It seems silly to see a person as a possession and Addie doesn't mean it in a negative way but she values Myra more than any single thing in her life. When it comes to objects though she does have a few; a pendant of Saint Anne that was given to her by the nuns that raised her and her sister is her most precious item. Of course she's very fond of her guitar and she considers a lot of her notebooks important because they house her poetry.
HOME(S): The Four Seasons Hotel with the rest of Rayne's pack.
HISTORY: Myra and Adrienne never knew their parents and in the case of their mother, never even knew her name. Born in the Canadian county of Saskatchewan in 1752, what little they had of their mother was passed down to them both. The prairies were mostly empty, small hamlets and buildings scattered around the countryside with the occasional family moving across the area in a series of caravans. The nunnery of Sts. Ann and Joachim, patron saints of Canada was located in this wilderness, part of a small village that kept the faith and passed time simply and quietly.
It was here that the red-haired woman found her way to them. She simply appeared one night, staggering into view of the small nunnery that doubled for an orphanage, children being sent there from miles around, the holy women the only ones capable and willing to take care of those that could not look after themselves, believing that their presence in the otherwise wild world was a divine inspiration from God. As the nuns rushed to the aid of the woman she fell to the ground, the light of the torches showing them that the woman had been badly beaten and was bleeding in several places – and was heavily pregnant.
They brought her inside the nunnery and tried to treat the wounds as best they could, but for some reason the stab marks were not healing or closing as they should as the days slipped past, the woman spending most of them unconscious. It was clear she was dying and just as clear that the wounds were infected. The nuns could only assume that she had neglected medical aid purposely for some reason and as the woman experienced a rare bout of wakefulness she gasped out that it had been the choice or her or the babies. She begged them to save her children, to not make her flight across miles of empty prairie land a hopeless one. How they would have dealt with her request was debatable, the nuns believing that everything was God’s will and not sure if they should interfere. Only hours after her request however, she regained consciousness again and this time it was clear she was in labour – a sign from the heavens that these children were meant to be and the nuns sprang to work.
In the confusion of the birth, nuns frantically trying to save the children while at the same time keep the mother alive as best they could, they missed which was born first, the two getting mixed up. First one daughter came out, the second following soon after. Amazingly enough, despite the injuries suffered to their mother and the strain the whole thing had placed upon her body, both her twins were born healthy and strong, the only complication being the fear that the mother would bleed out before both had been removed.
The woman looked at her children, content despite the chill she could feel in her body, despite the knowledge that she was dying and leaving them alone in the world, knowing that at least they were in the world and that hopefully everything she had done for them She fought to remain awake, every breath agony as with her last energy she murmured the names Adrienne and Myra before slipping into an unconscious state she never woke from. With her children mere hours old, the woman died, still not having given the nuns her own name. They buried her in the churchyard despite not knowing her faith, ensuring that she had all the Catholic rites for her soul to achieve peace. They named her Mary, the sacrificing mother and under that name erected a simple tombstone, the single first name carved into it.
The twins grew up quietly enough after that, whatever had driven their mother to flee across the country did not follow them and so they had peace and quiet. It didn't take long for Adrienne and Myra to become favourites of the nuns, spoilt almost with their red hair and their quiet, soft and easy to please demeanour.
Things changed as they reached the cusp of womanhood. Late at night they were woken from their sleep by the sounds of breaking stone and the screams of the nuns who had raised them. Frozen with fear they stayed where they were until one of the nuns came to them, bursting into their room covered in blood. She ushered them out of the room and to the back of the building, flinging open the door and telling the girls in no uncertain terms to hold hands, to stay together and run. As they were turning to go a figure cloaked in shadow appeared at the end of the stone corridor and the nun gave the girls a final shove out of the door before slamming it shut. As the twins ran away down the stone flags and into the dirt street that lead through the village they heard the nun screaming and the door splintering off its hinges.
They ran into the town and would have kept running if something hadn't started happening to them both. Pain. Unimaginable pain shot through their small bones and made their joints burn. Adrienne dragged Myra by the hand into a barn and right to the back stalls where it was empty. That was where their first change over took them. Smaller now and fuelled by pure instinct they wriggled out from a gap in the wood and ran clean across country, out of the blood soaked village and the screaming and into the Saskatchewan plains.
When they came to the next morning they had fallen down in exhaustion in a copse of skinny trees. They gathered themselves together and continued, knowing only that whatever or whoever that black shape had been he could be following and they didn't want it to catch up with them. In the end they wandered for days, the first two nights they changed again into creatures of some kind and by day they walked hand in hand, each only having the other. The first town they came to they sought out the church and sank into the pews to pray. It was a priest who found them, dead tired and offered to let them stay in the church for the night. Feeling at ease in the sacred place, confident in their flight from their orphanage home the girls agreed. They stayed for a few weeks, until fear and apprehension began to take over. They worried that when they became those creatures again, without the need to run burning through their bodies, what might they do to the people around them? To this kind man who had allowed them to sleep in God's house. They had to leave and they knew it.
So they spent several months roaming around the province, they didn't like to stay anywhere too long and they began to learn that their changes occurred with the moon; when it was full they shifted. Avoiding people and populated places at those times became second nature. One morning they woke up to find they had been covered in blankets and there was a fire nearby. At first they were afraid of the man who was waiting for them to wake up, but he told them he knew what they were and that he could help, he showed them that he too could transform from man to beast and back again and so tired of being alone and afraid the girls went with him when he told them he had a place where people like them could be safe, and where others would be safe from them.
It turned out to be a huge mistake.
With such limited experience of wolves they followed the man trustingly; tired, scared and desperate for some kind of guidance to show them what they ought to do and how they ought to act they put their faith in this man and it wasn't until he had entered his apparent home that they realised something was wrong. Every step they took into the gloomy building made Adrienne's heart beat faster and her urge to run grew stronger, she got the same sense from Myra too late to do anything though. The man knocked Myra to the ground and grabbed Adrienne by her hair, yanking her away from her twin as she tried to help her. Quickly he tossed her aside, turned on Myra and hit her so hard she slumped into an unconscious heap. Adrienne lunged at him, ready to tear his throat open for touching her sister like that, all sharp canines and wild eyes but her was too old and too strong and snatched her by the throat, slamming her back against the wall and snapping half a dozen of her ribs against the wood which buckled with an almighty crack against her spine. Winded, terrified and in agony Adrienne could do nothing more and he quickly rendered her unconscious too.
Adrienne woke up alone. it was the first time in her whole life she had ever woken up without her twin sister nearby and she immediately cried out for her, felt hot sobs claw up her throat. Moving was agony with her shattered ribs, but she wriggled to the door and slapped a hand against it desperately. It felt like she lay there for days, hunger gnawed at her but not half as much as the loneliness of being apart from her beloved twin. When the door finally opened the man was there. Francesco. Adrienne demanded to know where her sister was with a shaking, fearful voice and it was at that point he opened the case. Inside it was a heart. He told Adrienne it was Myra's and her world turned into a dizzying, sick spin. She told him he was laying, sat in his face when he insisted that he had killed her sister and cut out her heart, telling her that he liked twins and he always kept their hearts in pairs so she shouldn't worry about being apart from Myra for long. When he couldn't convince her -- Adrienne just knew that her sister was still alive -- he seemed amused, pleased even and when she spat in his face he grabbed her by her long, red hair and yanked her to him , twisting it up in his fist to tell her that he liked twins ever so much; human, vampire or werewolf, he didn't care, only in so much as the fact that lycanthropic twins were the best suited to his needs. Francesco told her that he had been hunting her and her pretty twin ever since he had found them in that convent and killed all the nuns in it and all the patrons in the village to get to them. Adrienne was sure she was going to vomit at the revelation but he flung her away and told her he would return.
Time blurred easily in that terrible place. Both Dove twins were subjected to terrible tests and painful experiments in the name of Francesco's obsession with twins; they were starved and beaten, and never once saw one another. Adrienne knew that Myra was alive and that was all that allowed her to remain strong in the end, knowing that she had to endure so that she could get her sister away from this place, even if she didn't know how she would do such a thing. At night she cried for her other half, curled in a cold cell, alone, by day she was frightened but defiant. for a time at least. Eventually even Adrienne with her secret fiery temper was unable to withstand so much. When Francesco thought he had broken them down sufficiently he finally let the twins see one another; they were no longer a threat to him and he let them know as much. He dumped Adrienne in an unfamiliar room and moments later dragged Myra in. Adrienne's ankle was broken and she couldn't walk but Myra rushed over to her and the two embraced, the pain went away, all Adrienne cared for was the fact that Myra was alive and she could feel her twin under her hands, her scent warming her and filling her. From then on Francesco allowed them to stay together. That was when the girls made their plans.
When he was sufficiently placated into thinking them nothing but broken little dolls, when Adrienne's ankle was healed, the girls attacked. They moved as one being, one mind, knocking him down and taking his keys, dragging him into one of his own cells and locking him there before they made a run for it. They knew it wouldn't take long for him to break out and chase them so they ran. Hard and far and fast, they ran away from that awful place, south and away from the place of their nightmares, where they had each been dealt so many physical, and emotional scars. They didn't once let go of one another's hands.
They crossed the border with America and kept going, sleeping wherever they dropped down with nothing but the clothes on their backs; they foraged for food, what little weight was on them dropping off dramatically as fear that they would be caught gnawed at their insides. Their saving grace came in the form of Neal Lewis and Isabella Valdez. With a group of fighters they had been sent out to deal with some trouble between a rogue wolf and a vampire that was making a mess at the edge of the territory, they were returning to the pack home when they came across the tattered girls, gripping hands like they were afraid they'd be washed down a river if they let go. They were too weak to move and the two oldest fighters discussed in low voices that they felt it would be unwise to carry them until they were a little stronger and that they could probably manage it tomorrow, after they had been able to rest; they sent the the rest of the fighters back to inform their Alphas of the situation and stayed with the girls, setting them up in a room at an inn. Neal patrolled the perimeter and Bella looked after the twins until the early hours of the morning when Francesco caught up with them.
There followed a vicious fight; he was no real match for both the old, experience fighters and when Neal whistled to his mate that they had company, Bella fired an arrow out the window into the fray, telling the girls to stay where they were and that they wouldn't let anything happen to them before she sprang right out of the window. Adrienne clutched Myra close to her with whatever strength she had in her and waited, listening to the keening howls of the fight outside. It was Neal and Bella who came back in though, blood spattered and out of breath but victorious. They told the girls that the man who had hunted them wouldn't be a problem anymore and that in the morning they would take them pack to their pack where they would be safe and protected for as long as they wanted.
The twins fell back into a dead sleep, no fitful dreams able to make it past that all encompassing exhaustion that settled in them; Neal and Bella kept watch all night and in the morning they held true to their word, they fed the girls, let them bathe and Bella had gotten hold of some clean clothes for them, then they travelled across the pack territory as a group and brought them into the pack. It was difficult at first for Adrienne to adjust to being surrounded by wolves, they had never lived in a pack before and one twin was rarely seen without the other, but it was safe and for a time a happy environment. As things began to deteriorate, Adrienne began to worry that she would need to take her sister away from it, determined never to have her suffer in solitude ever again, but Bella and Neal reassured them that the pack tensions wouldn't lead them to danger, that they would protect them and it was for the trusted fighters the twins stayed, though as the pack grew colder and more tense they retreated more and more into one another, practically never being seen apart. Recently they have been sharing a room rather than sleeping in separate ones, it's much more comforting considering the state of the pack.
