While she didn't like to let on that the recent tension in the pack affected her, Adrienne felt a horrible, cold and leaden weight inside of her when she thought about it, though she started to wonder if it wasn't there all the time and her thinking about the pack just revealed it to her, reminded her of the rocks in the pit of her stomach. If it got very bad she would feel like she had to take Myra away from it, she couldn't have her sister in a place like this if it became dangerous, she'd promised herself she would never seen Myra in pain again, she wanted to keep her safe. However she also trusted in Neal and Bella; they had saved them both, twice over in Adrienne's mind, first finding them and looking after them, saving them from Francesco, and then bringing them into their family. It had been so wonderful for a while but something had gone horribly wrong.
The pack dinner had been nice, a really welcomed changed to the tensions of things and frankly one of the red headed pair of twins had been glad to see that the Alphas had decided not to come, it was better that way, they could relax more and she thought that Neal and Bella seemed relaxed for once too; they seemed so heavy lately, like they were carrying invisible sacks of rocks on their shoulders. It worried Adrienne, she didn't like to see them upset, so hearing them laugh for one night, to hear them teasing and see them dancing had been so wonderful. Spending time with the other pack members of their age had been good for them too, she knew she and Myra had retreated a little, but it was only to protect one another, she didn't love the pack any less, getting to spend time with Imogen and Jonah, Cooper and Gwen had been fun. But the night had ended, the way all nights had to end.
Adrienne sighed and flexed her crossed legs. She was sitting on the bed and her sister on the floor in front of her having her hair braided, running the matching red locks of hair through her fingers and tilting her head slightly as she considered her twin from above. "Did you decide which ribbons you'd like?" She asked softly, leaning to the side to see her twin sister's face, offering a smile as she did so.

Retreating into herself and into her twin had seemed the only logical option for Myra, the only way the sisters could try and protect themselves from the darkness that seemed to have gotten it's winding tentacles into the pack that had once welcomed them so warmly and so openly. She couldn't understand where it had all gone so terribly wrong, where the family that loved them had vanished to. It was for Neal and Bella that they stayed, remembering their kindness, everything they had done to protect and save them. There were others as well in the pack, those that Myra cared for, faint blush tingeing pale cheeks at a passing thought of a certain male, but none of them could match Adrienne, none could even start to come close. Her sister was quite simply the other part to her, as if they were one person physically split in two, but sharing the same soul, the same spirit.
She knew without having to speak that Adrienne was worried, that they were both balanced on the edge, trying to find some kind of middle ground between that urge to flee, to run away so they wouldn't be hurt and that desire to stay with those who had loved them so well. The pack was slowly becoming poison, hurting and like her twin, Myra would do anything to keep Adrienne from being hurt. For a single night it had seemed as though the rot might have been stopped, even pushed back, the pack coming together for a meal, for dancing and laughing. If Myra was going to be honest with herself, she would have even described the absence of their Alpha's as a positive, not having to worry about them or wonder if it was something they had done which caused Rayne and Dante to pull away as they had.
"The golden ones," Myra replied, voice just as soft and dreamy, lifting the ribbons in question in her hand as she spoke, smiling at her twin. She liked the gold ones, looking as if they had been spun from sunlight, the colour of warmth, of freedom, of the countryside. Adrienne's hands in her hair were doing much to calm her, to relax and in the safety of their room, she could almost forget about the tensions outside. She was oblivious to the shifts outside or the smash of glass as a projectile hit the hotel, currently too far away from their room to be noticeable.

Adrienne wasn't quite so oblivious. Just as she had taken the golden ribbons from her twin's hand her head tilted, hearing the clear, musical shattering sound. For a moment she was very still. Then there was the sound of running footsteps.
A shout. Two. The scent of burning carpet and curtain.
"I think we should go downstairs," Addie said, even as she was unfolding her legs and getting up off the bed. Eyes on the door, she reached for her sister's hand and then lead her to the doorway and out into the hallways beyond without waiting for an answer, the golden ribbons fluttering, discarded to the floor.
Continued in Hallways with Myra.
