If Sarah had ever eaten from Long Wong's before, it was without her knowledge. Chris could practically live on the stuff -- it was, truthfully, one of the reasons she had suggested it -- but usually when he ordered takeout, she wasn't aware of its origins. As long as it tasted good, she never much cared, really.
"Don't forget my meat lollipops," she told Chris as they got out of the car. She wouldn't bother giving him the rest of her order, he knew it well enough, but she liked to refer to the teriyaki beef sticks as meat lollipops. It was one of her quirks.
"I know what you like," he reminded her with a smile. "Beef sticks, sesame chicken, and Mountain Dew."
"Can't forget the Mountain Dew!" she replied. Both sergeants were addicted to the green soda. "Right. I'll leave you three to sort the food order, shall I?" She headed over to nab a table for four by the window, sitting down and pulling out her phone to check for messages.

Flynn really had no idea as to what he wanted and, just like he had been throughout the trip, he remained silent. Frowning lightly, he tried to decide what he wanted, standing behind Chris and slightly to the side. He ordered take-out a lot- he practically lived on it because he was a terrible- but he still had no idea as to what he wanted.

Sarah chuckled to herself at a text message from her friend Holly. New cute guy at work -- date Saturday! Typical of the blonde, who was -- as she'd earlier described her to Chris -- something of a man-eater.
She was still pressing keys for a reply when Miles came and sat down. Her naughty streak reared its head as she answered. Out at lunch with 3 goodlooking guys. Talk later.
"That should confuse her," she muttered, chuckling, as she closed the phone and tucked it back in her shoulder bag. "One of my friends," she explained.

"Meat lollipops -- oh. My silly nickname for teriyaki beef sticks," Sarah explained. "It's what I called them when I was a kid. I didn't know their real name. I love the damn things."
She peered out at the hazy, sunny day. "Good swimming weather, if I didn't fry to a crisp in the sun. Thank heaven for air conditioning, though."

Flynn thought for a moment more and decided on the teriyaki chicken and some fried rice. Chicken of any sort was something that had to be watched carefully around Mica- she was a notorious little thief who would not think twice about stealing directly off a person's plate- so a bit of chicken without having to worry about the cat taking off with it would be nice. With that decided, he reached into his pocket for his wallet, glancing around quickly to see which table had been picked for them to sit at.

"So are we making Tyler carry everything?" she quipped, smiling at Flynn as he took the seat next to Miles. "Because, you know, I don't object to that, but he might."
She looked back at Miles. "Who keeps paging you? The station?"

Flynn glanced back to where Chris was, having made his food request, asking for iced tea since Mountain Dew was one of those things he really did not like and had handed over the cash for his meal. He would help carry everything when the order came up, but for now, he simply didn't feel like standing around. He gave a frown as his pager went off and couldn't help but shake his head as he put it away again. A homicide in Homicide. Those people are harder on the computers than the rest of the department combined. They can wait until after lunch.

Sarah chuckled. She would of course never make Chris carry everything; she just enjoyed joking about and with him. "Problem back at the station, Flynn?" she asked, seeing him shake his head at his pager.

He glanced up at Sarah's question. "Nothing worse than usual. Someone in Homicide is having computer problems." He gave a slight shrug. "There always seems to be some reason for me to make an appearance there."

Sarah nodded at Flynn, then grinned up at her tall partner as he sat down. "Yay. Thanks, Ty," she said, as he slid a plateful of sesame chicken in front of her and passed her a large Dew. While she unwrapped her fork (Sarah couldn't seem to manage chopsticks, try as she might), he pushed a greasy paper parcel at her.
"Meat lollipops," he said with a smile.
"Yay," she replied again, seizing one and starting to nibble. "These'll last me all day," she added, looking at the four remaining in the bag. "I'll be chewing on them at my desk."
"Oh, great," Chris said dryly. "Just what I want to watch, you gnawing on beef sticks all afternoon."
"Yeah, I love you too," she returned, eyes twinkling.

Flynn took the chopsticks, gave them a look as if he was trying to figure out how to use them... and then expertly took up a bit of fried rice with them. He was no fool. If he had known that he was going to make an idiot out of himself with the chopsticks, he would've gone the fork route, too.

Flynn ate his rice silently. Truth be known, he had learned how to use chopsticks in the orphanage, but that was something he never talked about. He was far from bitter about where and how he was raised, but he had learned that mentioning that he had been abandoned in front of the orphanage just after he was born seemed to make some people uncomfortable, so it was just something that he never mentioned. If they didn't feel uncomfortable, then they felt sorry for him, and that was something he really didn't want, not that he wanted people to be uncomfortable, of course. It was just that knowing that people felt sorry for him because of such a thing annoyed him a bit.

Sarah listened to the exchange with an appearance of very slight boredom, though when Flynn started using the chopsticks, she took on a more interested look. "I have to say, that is impressive, Flynn. I can't use those things to save my life -- and I happen to like my clothing without food on it," she added, glancing at Miles in response to his accusation that she'd taken away his fun.
She ate a few mouthfuls of chicken and rice, looking thoughtful. "This place is pretty good," she conceded after swallowing. "You're right, Miles, it is better than Panda Express."

He had given a slight shrug at Sarah's comments about using chopsticks before saying, "When you grow up around someone who thinks chopsticks are a way of life, you learn pretty quickly." After that, he went quite again, this time going for a bit of his chicken. He really did understand that he was not the best conversationalist in the world- he wasn't a good one on his best days- but he did appreciate the fact that Sarah, Miles and Chris were including him. When your only company was typically your cat or a computer, any attempt was appreciated.

"You specialize in food? And you're a detective?" Chris challenged.
"Do you cook," Sarah asked, resuming her 'meat lollipop,' "or is your specialty strictly limited to eating?" Her green eyes glinted impudently.
