“Looks like Mimi found herself a new plaything,” Laurie observed, over the din of the music, laughing to herself as she turned her hazel eyes from her friend, and the man she had just treated to a free drink. One of these days, the playful blonde was going to get in trouble for saying ‘on the house’… it wasn’t uncommon for her to dish out as many as a dozen complimentary glassfuls a night.
“The Onyx? Oh, I’ve been there a few times. They have a great singer, and a very attractive barman or two, but that’s about it. For me, a club’s gotta be wild.” She grinned, mischievously. “And as far as I know, they don’t have someone like Mimi givin’ out free drinks whenever she gets a chance.”

“He’ll get over it. Either she’ll get him too many drinks for him to stay aware, or he’ll learn to love it.” She rocked forward on her perch, balancing perfectly, despite the daring angles she was adopting with her movements. She laughed at his talk about the barman.
“Well, they do have some women working there too, from what I’ve seen. Though you can’t miss that one guy… wow, he’s gotta be, like, six-four… six-five? And the accent?” Laurie stopped herself there. Yeah, the guy was practically the walking definition of tall, dark and handsome, but… she’d get neck-ache, and that was not for her.
“Quiet? What’s that?” She beamed playfully, rocking forward again to reply more fully, “Seriously though, I hate the quiet; always gotta have something going on, unless I’m asleep. Stereo, TV… that kinda thing.”

Laurie laughed yet again. He had a point there. “Oh, no, never a dull moment. And every night’s different. That’s the best part.” Her fingertips felt hot, as if the fire beneath them wanted to be let out, but she couldn’t allow that. Maybe when she got home, she’d toy with some candles; pass the time before tiredness actually hit her. She was usually too wired when she got home to even consider bed.
“So have you been in L.A. long? You said you’ve never been here before…” She was intrigued, and leaning forward on the bar again. Anton and the others were even taking a moment to relax; people had their drinks, and that meant the ‘tenders could enjoy themselves, in their own ways… if only for a few moments.

“All your life? That’s a long time.” She smirked playfully, cocking her head to one side; blonde layers of hair tumbled freely around her shoulders and face, framing it curiously. Deciding to breeze over the topic of just what he could and couldn’t do, given the chair, she endeavoured to ask yet another question, “So, what do you do? You said you work and then go home…”
Her interest was peaked. She couldn’t help being inquisitive; it was in her nature, and always had been. No matter how often she’d been told ‘curiosity killed the cat’, she couldn’t stop herself. Besides, she was no cat…

Laurie wasn’t entirely sure how to react to his rather nonchalant mention of the accident she presumed was the reason for his being in a wheelchair. She simply offered a smile that was only half the intensity of her former expressions, not wanting to misread his words, or send the wrong kind of message. She didn’t pity him; she knew disabled people tended to hate that… but she wasn’t about to laugh at his words, either.
Rocking on the bar again, she met Luke’s gaze; she liked how dark the green was…
Wow. Um, keeping that one to myself. “That sounds kinda cool,” she acknowledged, and honestly too. “So where do you work, or do you go from place to place?”

“Well, no, I can see why you wouldn’t,” Laurie agreed brightly, glancing to the DJ, who was gesturing in her direction. Had it really been that long since her last song on the stage? It certainly hadn’t felt like it.
Easily, she slipped down from the bar, landing close to Luke, and pushing his discarded glass behind her as she went, which Anton caught as he went past, rolling his eyes at her mischief. She flashed the other ‘tender a grin. “Hey, hold that thought, okay?” she said to Luke. “Duty calls.” And with a flash of another grin, she was off towards the door that led her backstage.
No rest for the wicked.

The blonde bartender's new 'plaything' didn't seem very responsive, but Mimi was never one to just give up. At Luke's wave, she turned and flashed the young man a smile before returning briefly to her current customer. If nothing else, she'd get the poor guy to smile; he looked like he needed it.
"Duty calls," Mimi told the sullen man with a quirky smile. "Wave if ya need anythin', mkay?"
She spun away and waved Laurie a thumbs-up on her way back to Luke. "Well, howdy again. Miss me already?" she teased.

"I have that effect on some," Mimi quipped, beaming. She refilled Luke's glass swiftly and then looked to the stage as Laurie burst out, all energy and grins. Mimi hollered and whistled along with the rest of the crowd for a moment, then looked back to Luke with a smile.
"Don't suppose I should set you up on a tab?"

She watched the wheelchair-bound young man carefully, but gave an easy smile as she caught Anton and told the head 'tender to set the tab up. That little half-smile across Luke's face looked familiar, probably because Mimi had worn it herself, but perhaps a bit too often. Vaguely, the Kansas girl wondered how long it might take Laurie to realize that she had a new admirer...but Mimi wouldn't press this time.
She did know when to keep her nose out. Most of the time.
"Well, enjoy the show, sugah," she finally drawled, beaming as she retrieved a few liquor bottles from behind the bar. "An' holler if ya need anythin'. Gotta make my rounds right quick."

As far as new admirers went, Laurie was oblivious. Perhaps they said that ignorance was bliss, but who knew how the pyrokinetic would react to finding out she had such an admirer? She was in her own little world up on the stage as the music pounded, and she sang and danced along, taking in all the reactions, cheers and whistles as if literally feeding from the energy of the crowd.
With a spin, she went on with her song, her voice carrying with ease through the microphone as she flashed Mimi a grin where the other blonde worked behind the bar. Across the distance, she found Luke in his wheelchair, and cheekily offered him a wink before getting right back into the act, loving every second.
Damn she loved her job…

Mimi was equally grateful that her own abilities were well under control. With the club as packed as it was, having hundreds of thoughts from people in varying states of inebriation could bring on one hell of a migraine. She had been forced out of other jobs when fainting spells had become a problem. Hopefully, this job wouldn't present those problems.
"Go on, Laurie!" she hollered over the crowd's roar, laughing delightedly. "Work it!" The Kansas blonde darted back and forth along the bar, filling drinks, dodging flirtation, and collecting a few more phone numbers. She wasn't onstage, or doing her bar show, but Mimi still couldn't deny the adrenaline rush. It was a good thing.

Continued from: Club Exterior with Bo
Bo's cheek earned him a growl from Mikey and Fiona just laughed, tugging the blonde wolf away before he could start something. If it every came to a battle royale between the two wolves, Bo would probably end up squashed flat, but Mikey, job and massiveness aside, was an utter softie.
"I'll keep my eye on him, Mikey!" she assured.
"That's what I'm worried about!"
Fee's laughter bubbled up again, loud, but not quite loud enough to cut over the thumping music inside the club. Immediately, her dark eyes turned to the stage and she gave a delighted crow, "Heeeey, there she is! Go Laurie!"

Bo heard his friend’s laughter, picking it out from the thundering music that poured from large, expensive speakers, accompanied by a woman’s voice that was originating from the stage, amplified by the microphone she held. It looked like Tad’s favourite performer was working tonight… Bo wondered if he’d be able to keep his tongue in his mouth, or if people would trip over it.
He smirked. “You think they put people like her on stage on nights like this intentionally? To rile the crowds?” He spoke with a mischievous edge to his tone, making sure to lean with his mouth by Fee’s ear so she wouldn’t have to strain to hear him. Not everyone had enhanced senses, he knew.

"You do realize it's like this in here almost every night?" Fiona returned with a grin while trying to see over the ocean of people in the hopes of granting Laurie some affectionate harassment. Eventually, she gave a growl of, 'fuck this,' and leapt onto Bo's back.
"Laurieeeee!" the young human hollered (careful of her friend's sensitive hearing, of course) and waved at the woman on stage. It was only until Laurie waved back that Fee was satisfied and returned to the ground before tugging Bo towards the bar.
"C'mon," she ordered, flashing a smirk over her shoulder. "And remember to keep your helmet out."

He gave a growl, shaking himself off. “Give a wolf some warning before you pounce on his back, yeah?” He eyed her ‘warningly’. “We’re not all so understanding…” His smirk wasn’t suppressed for long; he wasn’t the type to keep a straight face, even in a slightly negative situation. It just didn’t suit him.
Following her to the bar, he glanced briefly at a man in a wheelchair, lifting a brow before he realised he didn’t particularly care; the guy seemed engrossed in the show on stage, anyway. It looked like Tad wasn’t the only admirer. He saw one of the regular bartenders, and smirked at Fee, as if to say ‘well?’ as they came up to the bar itself, and he leaned on it sideways, to watch the continuation of the performance for a while. He’d let Fee handle this part… for now.
