Chain rattled as Eli shuffled back against the wall, the shackle slipping from his wrist, closing his eyes tightly, as if the other man would go away when he did so, trying to banish him from existence just by willing it to stop being true, but no matter how hard he hoped for it, the man didn’t go away. Opening his eyes, he looked across, guilt and horror very clear on his face as he tried to comprehend what he had done.
He couldn’t… couldn’t have turned someone. No… no, that was his worst fear, and to think that… oh god.
Eli’s stomach flipped and turned, and he had to lean back and concentrate fully on not vomiting as the taste swarmed his mouth. Whatever he had ‘eaten’ the night before wasn’t settling well, and he longed to hide in his room, where he could feel as miserable and sick as he wanted, but Katrina wouldn’t like him wandering upstairs without permission, and they had… company.
With something not unlike a quiet pine, he looked across at the other man again, and said, barely audible, “I’m sorry…”

It was early, and the heavy curtains had been drawn. Soon, she'd sleep for a little. But there was work to do first. Katrina stood at the top of the stairs, able to hear Eli's words.
"Oh Eli. You mustn't apologise to our new guest. You've given him a new power." Her eyes gleamed as she eased down the stairs, her whip looped casually at her side. He'd know that it would become uncoiled in a flash if she needed it.
She walked up to Eli and put her hand under his chin, and pointed his head over to Flynn. "Do you see your handiwork? Even as a dog, you have this power." Pushing his head back, she shoved hard and sneered - "Disgusting. You'll stay down here this morning. You ate last night. Would you like to know what?" The revulsion that coursed across his face made her laugh again.
She crossed over to Flynn and stood in front of him, arms crossed. "Good morning Flynn. Did you sleep well?" The words were nearly purred. "You remember Eli, don't you?"

Sleep well? He hadn’t slept at all, so that question was really pretty laughable. At least, it would have been if he had had any desire whatsoever to laugh. As it was, he was watching her warily, trying to ignore the throbbing behind his eyes and the way the edges of objects were blurred while looking through his glasses while reminding himself to answer carefully and as politely as possible because after last night, he didn’t think that he dared pushed the envelope. At least, not yet.
“Good morning…” Remember the name. “Katrina.” Have to remember that. “I didn’t sleep but I remember him… very clearly.” If that doesn’t work, I don’t know what will.

Katrina gave a small laugh. "Oh he's a smart one." She looked down at Flynn and fingered her whip softly. "I know Eli remembers you. In fact, you'll probably haunt him forever. I am looking forward to tonight, because he'll change.. and you'll change.. and the chains will be the only thing that keeps him from ripping you to pieces. I'll be sure to loosen them a little before you change of course - can't have you cutting off a paw on your first night. They don't grow back, sadly." She left no question as to how she'd found that out.
"I'm going to leave Eli here with you for a few hours while I go have a quick catnap, then we'll have a little snack and a little chat... and then I'll make you mine." Her eyes glowed lightly and she traced a finger along Flynn's shoulder. "The shoulder blade should be fine for you."
His eyes were confused, and Katrina allowed her mouth to curve into a smile. "It'll be such fun. For me." She pointed to Eli. "Ask him. Ask him anything - he'll tell you. If he even knows himself."
Walking over to Eli, she touched his hair, knowing he was cringing with every stroke. Reveling in that power, she looked back at Flynn. "We're going to be just the happiest little family." Laughing aloud at herself, she allowed it to ring across the stones of the basement - and then cracked the whip over Eli's head. He lurched to all fours immediatly and she grinned, fangs bared.
"You'll learn, Flynn. You will. And then I'll take you hunting too." In the corner was a stone area with an arch.. she threw a log into it and lit a match... the log caught and began to burn - the coals beginning to slowly catch. Lifting a metal rod next to it, she smiled. "This will be hot enough when I come back down. Then..." She made a hissing sound, displaying her name written in the end of the metal rod - "its silver too - isn't that fun?"
Her laughter echoed through the basement as she left the silver rod leaning against the stone by the fire. She'd sleep... and then.... then. Her eyes gleamed. Tonight after the branding, when they turned, she'd leave them chained to try to fight one another... perhaps bring back a human to throw between them...
It was these thoughts that made her mouth smile as she left the basement - blowing Flynn a kiss as she did.

He did absolutely everything in his power to keep from looking disgusted and terrified. Flynn had the very distinct feeling that showing such emotions wasn’t in his best interest, so he fought it down, trying not to think about what she had planned for him while he was at it. Though he actually managed to succeed in not looking disgusted, it was the terror and thinking bits that gave him trouble.
He felt a chill run down his spine and wished that he could come up with some way out of this predicament. Wishes, he was beginning to think, just simply didn’t come true. If they did, time would have turned back and he never would have left his apartment the previous night. He would be back home, talking to Mica and getting ready for work, chasing the calico as she took off with his watch in order to make sure he got his morning workout before heading off to the department to work on computers or whatever else happened to decide to malfunction. Compared to this, cleaning coffee out of a computer was absolutely nothing. If I get out of here, I’ll try to remember never to complain about that again. I’ll try to remember to never complain about anything again if I ever get out of this place and I’m still breathing with I do.
The thought of the heating rod assaulted him suddenly and he tried to give no signal that he was thinking of anything as upsetting and nauseating as that. He found himself desperate for sleep, though he knew that it wouldn’t be coming any time soon. At least if he was sleeping, he might be able to forget about what was in store for him.

Eli trembled, an automatic response, at the sound of Katrina’s voice, suddenly acutely aware of the blood and wounds that crisscrossed various parts of his bare upper half, including his face; it felt sticky and uncomfortable, his hair matted, and his left eye wasn’t quite open as fully as it should have been. Inwardly, silently, he wondered if it would scar; he couldn’t remember the night’s events, but he felt the familiar sting of the silver as it clung to the vulnerable flesh at the torn edges of the gash.
He stayed quiet and compliant as she addressed him, not meeting her gaze out of obedience and a learned, fearful ‘respect’, not even fighting her as she turned his head and then shoved him, the action stumbling him back roughly against the wall. He cowered down, swallowing any sounds of reaction other than a light gasp at the way his shoulder had collided with the cold wall. His stomach had turned anew at the mention of ‘eating’… he didn’t want to know, but he doubted she cared. Katrina never cared.
Eli wanted to block out what happened in the next few minutes, painfully unable to do so; from the way she mocked the ‘newcomer’ to the way she ‘petted’ his hair, he was aware of everything, and felt sick to his stomach, cringing at the clang of the metal branding rod landing near the hungry flame.
Nervously, after Katrina left, he chewed on the short nail at the end of his thumb, and then let his weary, guilty eyes scan the floor, finding an old, grubby sweater that had been abandoned down here a month or so ago. He shuffled quietly and retrieved it, pulling it over his bloodied, bruised torso, letting it hang dirtily, baggy, around his waist. He was too scared to talk to the man — werewolf — now, even though Katrina wanted him to ‘explain’. He could barely even bring himself to look at his fellow captive…

Reaching up, Flynn pulled off his glasses and put them on the floor next to him, leaning his head back against the wall and closing his eyes tightly, squeezing the bridge of his nose. The discomfort behind his eyes had turned into a full blown headache and, while there were certainly more important things for him to be concerned about, there was nothing he could do about those. There was nothing he could do about the headache, either, but he was hoping that it would end up going away on its own soon.
He didn’t want to talk. He didn’t want to think. He wanted out of there, but he had already come to the realization that he wasn’t getting out of the chains so trying was a waste of time and energy. He needed to stay calm- he knew that- but it was one of those things that were easier said than done. There was absolutely no reason in the world for him to be calm and, while he didn’t outwardly seem to be in a panic, his mind was reeling and trying to silence it only made it worse.

Eli wouldn’t engage. It wasn’t his way.
He sat in the opposite corner, trying not to stare, horrified and sickened by what he had done. Katrina had never kept them before, if there had indeed been survivors in the past. Usually, she just reminded him of his brutality the next day and enjoyed the guilt and disgust on his face as he realised what he had done, and could do if allowed to run free during the moon.
His knees were tucked up almost impossibly tight into his chest, and the lower half of his face was hidden behind them, his arms hugged around his bent legs. His eyes watched ‘discreetly’ from over the tops. Maybe this wasn’t real; a dream of some kind…
Eli inwardly scolded himself. That wish had never worked before; why would it start now?

After several minutes of silence during which his head pounded steadily, Flynn opened his eyes again. Everything literally looked a bit clearer than it had just a few minutes before and he found himself wondering if it was because his vision was really getting better or because he had just allowed his eyes to rest as he had. He didn't know which one he wished for most. He had always hated his glasses but contacts bothered his eyes too much and he really didn't like the thought of surgery of any sort- especially on his eyes- but if his vision really was getting better... He had accepted what he now was, but that didn't mean that he wanted the constant reminder. Plus, on top of that, there was that strange feeling in his mind and he was smelling and hearing little things that he hadn't or wouldn't have noticed the night before.
Finally, he decided that he had to ask a question. He was only planning on one, but he knew that, if given the opportunity, he would likely ask more. Something told him that it was best if he understood what was happening to him- what he was becoming and what exactly was being planned for him. For now, though, one question would do. "Is it supposed to feel like there's something in my head with me or am I lucky and just going crazy?"

The tall, folded-up werewolf blinked at the question, silently surprised that his ‘companion’ had asked a question at all. Eli had expected the other captive to just ignore him, and briefly, he wondered if that might have been better, but he supposed, out of all the possible questions, one of the ‘better’ ones had been picked. At least he could approach this subject and sound almost as if he were educated, which, on a natural level, he was.
“The wolf,” he said initially, simply. After a minute of wording it better in his mind, he started again, his tone betraying the trepidation that was very much a part of his daily existence; he sounded guarded and wary as he said, “It’s the wolf; you’ll… feel it in your head, like a caged animal.” Quietly, he added, “It’s not always bad…” And then he buried the lower half of his face back behind his knees, without even thinking about it.

He knew that he shouldn't have been able to hear that last part. It should have been far too quiet for him to hear- or, at very least, make out properly- but he had heard it quite clearly. He didn't like the answer he had been given; Flynn had honestly been hoping that he'd get called crazy. That would have been a relief.
Reaching out, he picked up his glasses and put them on, immediately regretting the decision. It suddenly felt like someone thrust a sharp poker right between his eyes. Giving a soft, annoyed sound, he pulled the glasses off. They seemed to be making things worse than better now and he shoved them aside, not intending to touch them again.
Closing his eyes and sqeezing the bridge of his nose again, Flynn decided to ask the question that he really didn't want to ask, but knew that he needed to. "What am I in for? What exactly is she likely to do to me and make me do?"

“You don’t need those anymore,” Eli mumbled, lifting his head to nod over his knees at the rejected spectacles. He wouldn’t need them ever again; they would only blur his eyes and disrupt his vision and even pain him.
At the sound of the question, he managed to stifle his instinctive pine, but he tucked his head down a little. After a minute, he summoned enough of his limited courage to reply, “Everything. Anything.” He blinked green-hazel eyes, the left staying closed a fraction longer than the right, and he winced. “You… what she does to me.” He fell quiet, fearful of Katrina hearing, and then continued quickly, “If you obey her, she’ll get bored, and she won’t hurt you so much.”

Dropping his hand to his lap, Flynn leaned his head against the wall again and looked to Eli, his blue eyes revealing his exhaustion, fear and misery. And I have the feeling that I haven't seen anything yet. He gave a heavy sigh. "I'm never drinking coffee again..." He knew that wouldn't likely make any sense whatsoever to the werewolf, but that didn't matter. It was a damn coffee run that had landed him where he was no and if he ever had the chance to drink it again, he was going to turn it down without even blinking.
More important things to think about than coffee, Flynn reminded himself silently. Like getting ready for the hell I'm apparently going to be put through. "I'll make sure to keep that in mind." Obeying a psychotic redhead wasn't high on his list of things to do, but if it would make things easier, he thought that perhaps he should consider it.

Naturally, for him at least, he didn’t understand the significance of the comment about coffee, and assuming he wasn’t supposed to, let it pass him by. The news that the other man — Flynn, Katrina had called him — would keep it in mind was something of a short-lived, small relief to Eli; if Flynn understood the very real danger of disobedience, then perhaps he could be spared some of the mistreatment, but then, with the evidence of such handiwork right in front of him, perhaps it was just too hard to ignore.
“I’m sorry I hurt you,” he mumbled rather pitifully into the tattered fabric of his pants, the words somewhat muffled by the obstruction that was his knees, and he averted his gaze, almost wanting Flynn to growl or shout at him. It was what he was used to; it was expected, almost routine, and Eli wasn’t sure how he would react if neither of those reactions came…

Flynn very seriously wanted to blame Eli for everything, but he knew that that wouldn’t have been fair. Katrina- he gave a mental shudder just thinking the vampire’s name- had said something about the moon, which Flynn took to mean that the movies were at least partially right- that werewolves couldn’t control themselves during it. She had said that they would both change come the night…
Giving a little shake of his head, Flynn said, “If everything I’ve heard and put together is right, you didn’t have any control over what you were doing. If that's how it is, then you don't have anything to be apologizing for." He thought that it would have felt good to put all of the blame on the other werewolf- who looked like he was about a decade younger than Flynn, though the technician had the feeling that meant absolutely nothing- but he couldn't. Not just to make himself feel better.
