Continued from: Basement – CSI Locker Room with Mike
Tony had trailed a step behind Mike, deciding not to rise to the bait and respond to the verbal sparring anymore. His silence, he felt, would more than speak for him but just to make sure Mike knew how unimpressed the CSI was, he sniffed loudly and rather dramatically as they walked, Tony refusing to keep level pace with his friend. It was all part of the fake insulted routine, one he had got down pat.
He heard the voices before they actually entered the break room and panic rose up in Tony for a moment at the female voice. It was one he knew only too well and always brought out the worst in him – Roxie. Tony would either try and impress her, ending up embarrassing himself or he would stay quiet… and end up embarrassing himself. True, most of the situations were not actually embarrassing, and it was mostly in his head but that wasn’t the point.
The point was he had no idea how to act around her.

She gave her fellow CSI an eyeroll from behind her own glasses. "Fine, fine; then I wish it was cut an dry," she retorted. "It'd mean less of a headache for all of us."
The entrance of Mike and Tony distracted her and she looked to to the pair of them with a brief smile. Roxanne may have been a flaming geek outside of the department, but at the station, she had all the friends she needed, in her opinion.
"Hullo, boys," she greeted.

Had Mike been so inclined, he might have turned and lobbed another M&M at Tony, but that would have just been wasting another perfectly good candy and he didn’t want to do that. Also, he was used to Tony’s little routine, so he wasn’t all that concerned about it. They did that to each other all the time and they always got past it quickly, going back to their friendly verbal sparring before the day was over.
Mike resisted the urge to glance to Tony when they walked in and saw Roxie. That would have given it away and Mike had sworn that he wouldn’t be the one to let onto Tony’s crush on the pretty CSI. Instead, he swallowed his mouthful of candy and shoved the package in his jacket pocket. “Morning,” he greeted, heading straight for the coffee pot, his green paisley patterned shirt showing up rather vividly against the black of his slacks and jacket. “Anything interesting going on that we haven’t heard about?” Pouring himself some coffee, he turned and held it up, giving a questioning look to the other three in the room in an offer to pour them some if they wanted it.

The blonde CSI was completely oblivious to Tony's predicament and so she didn't think anything of flashing him a bright smile before she turned to answer Mike. "I've got a priest who had his throat torn out in his own church," she told him with a smirk. "And the perp is some psycho woman."
That damned paisley of Mike's flashed her way and Roxanne gave a groan. Pulling her glasses off for a moment to rub her eyes, she said, "My god, Mike, that shirt should come with a warning label: may cause blindness."

He mutely shook his head to the offer of coffee, not trusting himself to speak while he was still getting over the bright smile sent his way. It was heart attack inducing. Tony was content to keep quiet about his feelings for the blond CSI, to never, ever act on them, but that didn’t mean they weren’t there. He couldn’t just wish them away – nor really would he want to. He allowed himself a smug smile at her reaction to Mike’s shirt, biting his lip to stop himself blurting out something stupid. Roxie’s case sounded interesting, and Tony found himself wondering about the blood spatter on such a murder.
Tony had decided on a new plan of attack when it came to wooing Roxie or even just not making a fool of himself in her presence. It was one he had thought of himself and he was particularly proud of it.
Basically it boiled down to; turn and run in the opposite direction.
“I’m going to go and see Tasha. If she has a priest on her table, then she’ll certainly have something to say.” Tony excused himself quietly nodding to them all and flashing Mike a brief and silent apology for running out on him before turning and slipping back out of the break room.

“This is my favorite shirt! There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it.”
He saw the apologetic look Tony shot him and hoped that his best friend had caught the ‘It’s okay’ look he was trying to send before he left. Mike would give Tony a few minutes and then follow after him. He would occasionally stand in on an autopsy, and, while he considered Tasha a friend, it was true that she and Tony were closer.
Turning his attention back to Roxie, he gave a shake of his head. “Sounds like ‘psycho’ is a good term for this one. I mean, you’d have to be to kill a priest and an even bigger one to kill one- anyone- in a church.”

Roxanne gave a noncommital sort of grunt in agreement. "It was an outright mess, if I ever saw one," she grumbled, peering impatiently down at the percolater; coffeeee, dammit. "Peter already called up the Father's family...sister and two nieces. Poor kids..."
And the murder itself hadn't even been the biggest disaster of the night. Sometime during the night -- for it all blurred together, after a certain point -- Roxie had heard about the 'accident' and the Rivera siblings. She wasn't particularly close to either Katherine or Marcus, but they were good people, and they were her colleagues, so naturally, she was going to worry.
Note to self: pay visit later.
"M'gonna need to get the rest of the notes from Petey and finish up here - " She nodded to the scattered papeerwork. "Before we really shift into high gear. I want to find this nutjob ASAP."

Roxanne smirked. "Damn straight you did, Rosengard," she stated matter-of-factly. "Unlike most of the jokers around here, I know how to make a good cup o' joe."
She snatched up a cup for herself, added the proper amount of creamer and sugar, and sat herself down to finish off her paperwork. Of course, she wasn't completely rude; she smiled at the newcomer, saying, "Nice to meet you, Colby. Where'd you mosey in from?"

"It's L.A., Davies," she returned with a lopsided kind of grin. "That's really all that needs to be said."
A good swallow of coffee settled itself into her bloodstream, and Roxanne felt a new surge of energy. Of course, sometime within the next hour or so, she would go on the caffiene crash which, unfortunately, could not just be cured by downing another three cups of coffee. At that point, she would be well and truly done.
She turned back to the new officer with a friendly smile. "It's not too horrible, really. Davies is just a drama queen, sometimes."

"I get no kick from champagne -- mere alcohol doesn't thrill me at all...hello, hello, lady and germs!"
Ronald was pleasantly surprised to see so many people congregated in the break room; he enjoyed crowds, of course, being the ham that he was. He continued with his 'song' and Roxanne received a wink in greeting -- for Miles, Paul, and Mike, Ronnie beamed and nodded jovially. He noticed the stranger (who practically screamed 'cowboy') as he fiddled with the percolater to get some fresh coffee going. The man was granted a lopsided grin as Ron stated plainly, "Don't think I know you. What's your story, slim?"

As usual, the entrance of one Ronald Berkshire provided Roxie with no end of amusement. She laughed at him, good-naturedly of course, then looked to Colby. "That's Ron Berkshire," she explained, nodding a head at the happy-go-lucky copper. "He's crazy."
"Bah, Roxie, you love me."
"Of course I do, hon," she returned without missing a beat on her eye roll. Chuckling, she smiled at the new man on the force again. "He's with Narc. Davies, Carrigan, and myself are CSIs."
Now, Roxanne wasn't exactly best buds with Miles Spencer, but she knew him well enough to tell that, upon his entrance, something was off. It was enough to distract her from her 'social butterfly' stage, at least, and with a curious canting of her blonde head, she offered the blue-eyed officer a gentle sort of smile, asking if he was okay without really saying it.

"Well, good to meet you, Colby," Ron replied with a shamelessly cheerful smile and a solid handshake. He could already tell that Jon was good people; they'd get along just swmmingly. "Welcome to the loony bin."
With a freshly brewed pot of coffee, Ron gifted Davies with a fresh cup of the stuff before grabbing four more cups, filling each of them, and stuffing his pockets full of the little creamer cups and sugar packets. "I hate to cut and run," he announced. "But I've gotta run. Catch you on the flip-side, guys and dolls!"
And with that, Berkshire made his exit, whistling as he went.

She pushed the door open and stepped inside the rather crowded room, a friendly smile on her face. Blu made it a point to know the name of everyone she worked with, even if they didn't know her back or notice her all the time. Such was the lot of technicians. But she liked to think her friendly attitude meant she had a couple of friends outside her 'own kind' and that most at least knew her by sight – in her goth clothes, black and white mini skirt meaning she tended to stand out.
The young woman looked around the room, nodding in greeting to everyone there, noticing that one of the men – looked like a cowboy – wasn't familiar. New faces came and went and she was sure that sooner or later she would get to know him, but right now there was more urgent matters to worry about. Blu honed in on Miles, moving through the room to stand in front of him.
“Morning Miles. Can I borrow you for a moment?” she asked quietly, jerking her head back to indicate she wanted to talk to him outside and in private. She also placed her hands on her hips, making it clear that she was going to talk to him one way or the other. Let the gossip mongers say what they wanted, Blu didn't care.

Continued from: Basement – Hallways with Tony.
Tasha had, many a time, considered taking Mike aside and giving him a hand-written list of ‘Dos and Don’ts’ that revolved around his dress-sense, but as of yet, had never gotten around to actually doing it. It was amusing to think about, but she wasn’t sure what she would do if she offended the CSI. He was Tony’s other closest friend, and Tasha didn’t like to think about the tension it might create if she somehow hurt Mike’s feelings… if someone with that kind of dress-sense could even have their feelings hurt at all.
“Take it easy, Tony,” she had said to him regarding the syrup, turning her head to him in a wary manner, as if concerned for him as he contemplated this risky endeavour. “Don’t rush into something like that.”
As they walked into the break room, two people were leaving; Tasha recognised Blu, one of the technicians, and was vaguely aware of the man… a detective of one sort or another. From the suit, she guessed Homicide or Force Investigation… she might have been wrong. Taking a quick scan around the room with her eyes as she and Tony entered, she granted Roxanne a friendly wave and smiled at the other people present.

“I'm a man on the edge, with nothing to loose...” He flapped his hand playfully as he spoke, as though the syrup was nothing and even if it was, he wasn't going to admit to being afraid. “Old Man Fox can handle wild coffee.” Tony glanced around after he spoke, noticing that Roxie was still in the room, something that made butterflies churn up in his stomach. It wasn't an altogether unpleasant feeling he had to admit, it was jittery and made him feel as if he had already had those promised cups of coffee.
Tony threaded his way carefully through the people, keeping his head down slightly as he headed for Mike, intending to double check it really was okay to press gang his taxi into service. Oh Tony was sure Mike wouldn't mind at all, more so when it was to do with the injured cops but he was always slightly paranoid. “Hey Mike.”
