It was an odd enough situation to begin with. They were family, Connor knew that, but he also knew that they were just getting to know one another. It had been enough of a struggle to get Dylan to believe him - he didn't want to run the risk of overstepping his boundaries and making the elder wolf uncomfortable. Connor let his smile grow some as the lump in his throat seemed to relax.
"Um," he began. The grip on Dylan's hand dropped away so he could shove his hands in his back pockets. "I guess we should sit down at some point and talk - really talk."
He couldn't help the was his gaze shifted over to the she-wolf -- to Irina. She made him nervous, like he was afraid she'd pounce at any moment, but Connor wasn't sure if he'd really mind being pounced on by the likes of her. He managed to grin a bit as he went on, "You two would not believe the shite I've managed to stir up in the past couple-a decades."

"Sounds like a drinking game in the making," Irina laughed, giving Connor a wink.
She came to stand beside the both of them and slapped hand on one shoulder for each, boundaries -- as usual -- meant nothing to her and she didn't care that she didn't know Connor from Adam because if he was Dylan's brother and if he was sticking around in her pack then he was one of them and as a result he was probably just going to have to get used to the fact that she was seven levels of inappropriate most of the time; most of the pack were used to it now, the fighters especially. Irina was outwardly affectionate to everyone, it was just how she expressed herself and how the wolf liked to be. Free. Sorry guys, but the awkwardness was just so goddamn hilarious. No hugs? Ridiculous men.
"Cole's gonna have a damn aneurysm," she cackled, thinking about their Alpha's face when he found out they'd picked up a new member on their own roof. Seriously she had to give the guy credit, it was ballsy. "But at least it's not me givin' him one for a change, right Dyl?" She grinned her wolfen grin and slid her arms around their shoulders in a half hug each. Family reunions made her all warm and fuzzy inside.

Dylan was already thinking -- or at least trying to think -- how best to proceed when it came to this male who said he was his half-brother. As a general rule, Cole was very patient and willing to give everyone a chance, but would Connor even be interested in something like that? Had he come here expecting anything? He said he hadn't, but what wolf didn't long to have a pack?
Distracted, perhaps blissfully so, by Irina's remark, Dylan actually laughed. She had a point, it made a change, and it was going to be interesting to see how their Alpha reacted to this little turn of events. It wasn't every day that a rogue took it upon themselves to clamber up the outside of the hotel to reach the roof. "How long do you reckon until he's figured out some way to stop this from happening again?" he asked in return, even as Irina pulled them into that half-hug. Dylan had to smile. Trust Irina to shrug off any and all awkwardness and just get right down to business.

He knew Cole -- well, knew of him. The Alpha was respected in the supernatural community of Los Angeles, or at least, that was what Connor had picked up on. Even those who held some kind of animosity knew better than to come after Stanton an his pack. They were a unit, a true family; quite frankly, they were not the pack to fuck with.
Knowing this was enough to make the young male take pause. There would be no joining the pack without meeting the Alpha. He had trespassed on pack property to get to his brother -- would Stanton hold that against him?
Would Stanton even like him? "I'd like to meet the Alpha, at some point." Blue eyes shifted from his brother, to Irina, and back again. "Managed well enough on my own up 'til now, but... a wolf needs a pack."

Cole Stanton's pack was widely recognised, not just in Los Angeles or even just the States, as one of the largest packs ever recorded, and personally Dylan was proud to be one of its members. This wasn't just a pack, just a collection of wolves who had come together from all walks of life to live under one roof, but a family, and he cared a great deal for each and every one of them, regardless of just how much he had interacted with them individually. In a way Dylan had had brothers and sisters around him for many years, but if Connor decided to request membership and because one of the pack, he would be the first with whom the fighter shared blood and a name. It was strange to think about, surreal in a way he had never even considered, but of course it had never crossed his mind before; how could he have known he'd had a brother -- even a half brother -- out there anywhere?
Dylan found himself nodding at that. A wolf did need a pack, it was in their blood, it was the way they were wired, and there was no denying that. Still, they would have to take this one step at a time. "We might just have to downplay the whole 'climbing up the side of the hotel without invitation' thing," he said, with a shadow of a smile. "Our Alpha's not really so big on the whole trespassing thing." It was such a rare occurrence that Dylan could scarcely remember what had happened to the last rogue who had tried it. There had been a great deal of tension in the air and a veiled -- but still unmistakably -- clear threat issued from Cole himself.

Connor gave a low, nervous chuckle. "Yeah, that whole bit," he muttered, sheepish. His face flushed warm with embarrassment. "In retrospect, probably not the smartest thing I've ever done."
To be fair, though, there had been plenty of other stupid stunts in the past. He'd always had a knack for diving headlong into the present situation without thinking it through to the eventual outcome, and this moment was no different. It had been a moment of "now or never", and he hadn't been willing to let the opportunity pass him by. Dylan or Irina could have dropkicked him clean off the roof simply for being a trespasser, but they had heard him out.
Hopefully, Stanton would turn out to be equally understanding. Connor rather enjoyed his hide in its current, mostly unscathed state, as it were.

Despite the fact that Connor had made a big mistake when it came to respecting a pack's territory, Dylan couldn't help but smile. He felt it creeping across his face, much to his surprise, but he bit the inside of his bottom lip and at least managed to school his expression and keep from letting out a little laugh. Something about the sheepish way the other wolf had admitted to his mistake just helped to solidify the belief in Dylan's head. He heard a little of himself in that confession.
"I would suggest climbing down and coming through the front door, but you might get an even frostier reception down there." That, and the younger wolves tended to feel skittish, even outright panicked, when that happened, especially if the trespasser looked like they could handle themselves. When the little girl had wandered up to their front door, not only had Asher been outside to find her before she could push her way into the lobby to be confronted by confusion and uncertainty, but she had just looked so harmless and lost that they wouldn't have felt threatened. Connor didn't have that luxury. One look at this male wolf and you could tell he'd been defending himself for many years.

"I'll put in a good word for you," irina grinned. Because that would make such a difference, clearly. Then again her instincts were incredibly reliable when they didn't involve starting fights in bars (accidentally) or in alleys (... not so accidentally) or otherwise generally making life difficult when it came to blending in with humans. "Cole's great. The best. Just make sure he knows you didn't mean nothin' by it and you'll be golden." She hoped? Cole was amazing in her books so there probably was a lot of rose tinting going on in her opinion of how this would all turn out but here you go.
She'd been looking back and forth between the two of them and then suddenly she stepped back, squinting at them a little. "Christ you guys look alike now that I know you're brothers."

It might make a difference. There were those within the pack that Cole was particularly fond of and Irina had long been one of them. Their Alpha didn't play favourites but it was easy enough to see which ones he felt especially paternal towards. Natasha and Meghan were the biggest examples but Dylan had seen the way the old male was with the female currently standing at his side. It was heart-warming more than anything else. Irina had had a rough time of it, still did given her father's condition, and it was good to know that there was someone looking out for her like that.
It was impossible not to look taken aback when Irina stepped back and said what she did. Dylan turned his eyes on Connor and then turned them back on the female. "We do?" It was a stupid question really, Irina wouldn't have said it if she didn't mean it -- she wasn't in the business of hiding her meaning or being vague -- but it was just surprising. They shared a father, yes, but they had different mothers. Could they really look that much alike?

Connor tried not to grin. He'd known his brother at first sight, obviously - the picture from his father gave him a distinct advantage. "Maybe a bit," he conceded with a shrug of one shoulder. "I'd say I have more of Da's nose, but I been hit so many times, I can't be sure anymore."
Some of the tension in his frame started to drain away. It no longer felt like he was just waiting for one of the two wolves before him to spring into attack. Of course, he would still have to get past the entire pack once he properly introduced himself. That was bound to be an adventure.
He glanced at Irina, his smile crooked. "Think Stanton'll forgive me if I come through the front door with a white flag?"

"Family's important," Irina said sagely, nodding. "Cole's one of the good one, the best. You'll be okay. Might help if you plead insanity or somethin' though," she pursed her lips a little, tapped her chin in faux consideration, "y'know, just to be safe."
Connor would be okay if he had Dylan and Irina on his side when he came in through the front doors, if both of the fighters vouched for him -- long standing pack members, from birth in Irina's case -- then he didn't have too much to worry about, she thought. In fact she was about to say something to that effect when she happened to glance out across the skyline of Los Angeles and see something that concerned her. Irina peeled away from the males and went to the edge of the roof, leaning out to look.
"Uh, hey, Dyl," she said, extending an arm and pointing over the city. "Ain't that about where Rayne's pack live? 'Cause if looks to me like the Four Seasons is on fire." Holy shit.

Dylan chuckled, a rich and sincere sound, when Irina advised Connor on how best to proceed, shaking his head in amusement before muttering a vague but genuine agreement. Connor hadn't meant any harm, their Alpha would be able to see that, sense that, and if he had doubts then there were those within the pack who could reassure him. Cole was a good judge of character, Dylan had never been given a reason to doubt him, and he didn't doubt that their pack leader would give Connor a chance if he felt one was deserved.
As soon as Irina moved away Dylan straightened, shoulders squaring and chin lifting as he watched the female and soon saw what it was that had caught her attention. "Shit," he mumbled, moving towards the edge to stand beside his fellow fighter. "You're not wrong." What on earth was going on? "It looks like the whole place is coming down," he said, looking to his side at Irina's face in profile and then back over his shoulder at the newcomer.
"Come on." With that he pushed off from the roof's edge, turning and making his way back towards the same door he and Irina had used to access the roof. "Cole will want to know something's up."
CONTINUED IN: Hallways with Irina and Connor.
