Tomas gave a small, all but unnoticeable nod at the unspoken question in his sister’s eyes. He really did need to find something to do and thought that if the training room offered no entertainment, he would go to the kitchen and see about finding a snack. Or maybe he’d do that and then go see about putting the training room to use. That sounded like the perfect idea.
“I’ll see everyone in morning. Try not to have too much fun without me.” With that he gave a quick grin and headed inside.

The medium smiled as Gavin bade them a good evening back and then Tomas left, her face illuminated half by the ochre flames that were quickly dying out and half by the moonlight as it filtered down into the courtyard. She turned her eyes back to the fire pit and then sighed a little, "Well. The burning doesn't seem to have helped," she started, glancing at the little boy, her expression softening as he stared back at her. She took in his stance, straight back, hands at his sides; there was a stiffness there that didn't belong in a young boy's posture. At seven or eight years old she knew that neither of her brother's had been so rigid.
"More and more I am thinking that the mother is the key here." She said gently. Her eyes seemed to glaze over a little as she was enveloped by thoughts, not used to sharing them aloud with someone and as such not voicing them.

The female redhead had smiled and given Tomas a wave in parting, and then looked back to Nerys, as if she were a keen pupil in a fascinating lesson. She took in every word, as if drinking in the information, quickly and thoroughly storing it for later recollection and processing, in case she needed to recall it for whatever purpose.
“But you haven’t seen the mother,” she ventured, her blue eyes narrowing in thought, moistening her lips pensively, brows knitted. This wasn’t her area — in fact, she didn’t have an area — but she was eager to learn, and this wasn’t the sort of thing that usually came in textbooks, so easily accessed. Morgan not only had a unique opportunity for lessons here, but she genuinely wanted to help. If she could make a pack mate’s ‘load’ lighter, then she wanted to.

Nerys nodded and looked to Morgan, acknowledging her with a small but serious smile. She sighed, starting to air her thoughts a little, "That's what worries me. He's adamantly following rules set down by his mother. Not to talk to strangers. Something about the vase being her favourite which was what lead to my burning their fragments in the first place." She felt the need to explain to Morgan why she'd done that since she seemed so eager to learn about all this. She voice was soft yet held a clarity to it as she went on,
"I had originally thought that the boy was somehow tethered to the vase. Occasionally spirits can become... entwined with an object that has a great deal of sentiment attached to it. I've honestly never encountered someone so young with such a connection, but I wanted to cover all the bases.... stop me if I'm going on?" she said, looking up from the ashes and the final, dying flames and smiling.

Morgan shook her head, disrupting loose curls of dark, richly-coloured hair. “No, no, it’s fine. I asked.” Her own voice was soft, but curious, and she smiled gently to reassure the older female that she was genuine in her interest. Her eyes went down to the flames again, and she chewed her bottom lip for a moment, going over what Nerys had already told her, trying to piece it all together for herself.
Okay. A boy with a connection to a vase that doesn’t set him free after it’s broken and burned; an attachment to his mother’s spirit which hasn’t shown itself yet, but is obviously strong enough to… bind him? Would that be the word? She decided not to ask, gazing briefly to the medium at her side.
“If the vase was broken, did you get all the pieces? And there was nothing inside it that might be… holding him here?” It was a long shot, and she really didn’t know what she was talking about, but she was making the effort all the same.

Nerys nodded, thinking back to sweeping up the crystal shards from the floor of her room, she had picked up all the little ones that she could see at least. "I think so." She responded, "It could have been coincidence that he contacted me after I broke the vase, I suppose, though I have learned not to put too much stock into coincidences in these situations. It's more likely it was simply a trigger..." she sighed, green eyes dipping down once more as the smoke began to outweigh the fire. She was wearing a lightly pensive expression; a tiny frown teamed with thinned lips and she only continued to put her train of thought into words because Morgan had given her encouragement, see glanced up,
"More often than not, they tell me what they need or if they can't they at least show me somehow but this is different. I haven't been in a position like this for... a few years at least." The fire died away, taking the small amount of warmth it had produced and the soft ochre glow with it and Nerys crossed to the remains, her eyes remaining low, "In any case, the vase is the only thing I... I'm sorry we have to go on," she looked up apologetically, "How are you at research, Morgan?"

When Nerys looked back at her after sharing her thoughts, Morgan seemed to brighten, as if the idea of truly being of some help cheered her on what might have otherwise been an awkward, restless night. The notion of being useful, and learning something… well, it caused a little flicker of electric excitement through the younger female, but she collected herself, and settled for a sincere, soft smile.
“I know my way around a library,” she replied modestly, her smile still in evidence. “My brother tells me I should take my nose out of them once in a while, but… well, it comes in useful.”
Like now, she added unnecessarily, but thankfully, only internally. “Were you thinking the old-fashioned kind, or via the internet? I can manage either.”

"There's a lot to be said for knowing your way around a library, and for being wide read," Nerys replied, a warm smile in place. She had started to sweep up the ashes of the bag from the burning into a second back she had brought with her ready to throw them away. She started speaking whilst continuing with the task, "As for research, most likely a little of both. I have a lot of documents from the display the vase was originally in so hopefully they'll come in handy. As I recall it wasn't a prominent piece but it had a lot of history to it."
She stood, straightening out her back and brushing light dust from her knees, the bag in one hand. She pulled a face at her other, covered in ash and sighed, wishing for a moment she'd brought a brush down with her before the thought was forgotten. She looked at Morgan again, with determined green eyes, "Well, if you're ready to get started there's no time like the present, as they say," she smiled gently.

Morgan nodded thoughtfully, honestly reassured by the warm smile Nerys had granted her. She knew the medium werewolf wasn’t the type to open up to just anyone in the pack, so she felt oddly touched in a way, but knew better than to linger on that, or bring it up. It would be rude, and out of place, especially considering their task.
“I’m ready as I’ll ever be,” she replied with confidence, giving another singular, firm nod that sent dark red hair into a light bounce, and she reached up to casually brush it back so it didn’t tumble into her eyes. The research would make a nice change from the tedium of wandering around, trying to find something to do, and it would make an interesting entry for her journal, at the least. Besides, what harm was there in learning something new? Just because she would live for an eternity of sorts, that didn’t mean she had to wait for opportunities to grab her.

Nerys nodded, continuing to smile. She was glad to hear a confident tone in Morgan's voice, it was reassuring to her. She started to make her way towards the exit. She was hoping that she would be allowed to re-enter her room without much trouble and that going the conventional way would be a lot easier than the way she had come. She looked at Morgan almost apologetically, "I'm afraid I make it all sound rather ominous, don't I?" she said softly, shaking her head too free soft blond hair from her line of sight, one hand carrying the bag and the other too dirty from the ash to want to touch her hair with. She knew that a lot of the time she came across as melancholy but she didn't want the red-head to feel as though she had to walk on egg shells around her. "Don't be anxious about asking me any questions that come to mind. I don't pretend to have all the answers but I'll do the best I can."

As they moved, Morgan offered Gavin a parting smile. She hated to abandon the somewhat shy fighter after he’d just arrived, but he could be allowed to enjoy the simple beauty of the night sky without their talk of death and the afterlife; she didn’t want to dampen whatever mood he might be in, and it wasn’t as if he couldn’t find other company. In a pack as large as Cole Stanton’s, that was one thing nobody was ever lacking: company. They had it in spades.
Morgan, being a social creature, was thankful for that. This pack was her family, blood or otherwise, and she adored them all, for all their unique quirks and traits. While Tomas was her literal family, she would never underestimate how much she cared for each and every wolf under the Hyperion’s tall roof. She loved them all.
“Okay.” Morgan nodded with a soft smile. “Well, is there anything I should keep in mind, in particular? I’m new to all this, obviously but… well, it’s best I’m prepared, right?” She didn’t want to be standing around and have a spirit hit her in the head with a book. At the very least, that would rile Tomas, and she would rather keep him out of her quiet interest in the afterlife…

“They gave me a fan, just imagine my bliss, when I found myself going like this, like this, like this…” By the time she had reached the courtyard, Meghan had gone through the song three times, so that both her hands and her head were nodding in time to the song. The problem was the next verse demanded you shake your foot and she wasn’t quite sure how to do that and keep moving. Meghan stepped out into the sunlight, the song forgotten as she took in the beautiful day.
Cole was not in the courtyard. Meghan came to a stop in roughly the centre of the area and placed her hands on her hips, a pout on her face. How rude of Cole not to be in the first place she looked and to magically know she was trying to find him and so make himself easy to locate. It was probable, now that Meghan thought about it, that he was still in his bedroom with Dia. If that was the case then she didn’t want to disturb him.
Meghan moved over to one of the seats, relaxing on it and sunning herself. She would carry on her Cole hunt in a few minutes.

Meghan lifted her face up to the sun with her eyes closed and a pleased smile. She loved sunning herself in the morning sun before it got too hot and bright. When you could relax and let the giant fierily yellow orb warm you without really burning you. She preferred rain personally, but most weather made her happy. Meghan was just generally a happy person over all.
As delightful as her current activity was, it wasn’t getting her any closer to her aim of tracking down Cole and giving him a morning hug and with a sigh she stood up again, shaking her head to let the curls fall loosely around her face. She could check the kitchen to see if he was there, since that was where she was bound to find the majority of the pack that was awake. But Cole might want peace and quiet… She pondered the question before bounding out of the courtyard, deciding to just pick a direction at random.
To close her eyes at the doorway, spin and point. See where she ended up. Meghan giggled as she spun, catching hold of the doorframe and pointing, in a direction away from the kitchen. “To the library then…”

Continued from The Kitchen
Normally, Heidi could look at her situation with calm logic and realize that while yes, she's got every right to be embarrassed, and yes again, that could have gone a lot better, it wasn't as though Raze was deliberately trying to humiliate her and no real harm had been done. Sooner or later it would have become common knowledge that she and Will were...whatever they had become. Mates, or mates-in-progress, or something. She would have held onto her cool dignity and found some way to explain the situation to her 'son' that he could understand, without embarrassing herself or the others in the room. And eventually, given enough time to process all the thoughts swirling in her mind, she would realize that this was really not that big a problem.
But the problem was that Heidi had been stripped of control of the situation. And (except for last night) Heidi never, ever, ever felt comfortable when she had no control over something which personally concerned her. Sharing control was fine; surrendering control of her own free will was acceptable. But after everything she endured in her siring and the years which followed, she had determined to always be in command of her own destiny, down to the smallest details. Right now she felt like the rug had been yanked out from beneath her feet.
She wasn't angry -- exactly. She wasn't sure what she was, except humiliated and upset and shaken. She didn't blame Raze; how could she, when he had the comprehension of a child about so many things? But still...
Gradually she would calm down. She always did. And then she would find Raze and make sure he understood that he hadn't done anything wrong, not really, and as to the rest...well, she just had to trust that her standing in the pack meant that she wouldn't be subjected to many questions or jibes. (Okay, yes, Steven would probably tease her mercilessly, but that was his prerogative. It was practically his job.) For now, she just needed to be left alone for a little while to sort out her thoughts.

The morning sun was shining brightly down on the courtyard as Jess entered it, a satisfied smile on her face. So far the day was going just the way she liked it, spending it with Kate as well as the promise of a later time also spent with him. She moved slowly down the courtyard path, taking in the flowers and the scents as they unfolded their petals due to the start of a new day.
“Morning Heidi.” She greeted the Beta wolf calmly, her voice soft and soothing as always. If she noticed the smell of William on her then she didn’t react, simply smiling serenely at her. It was none of Jess’s business and therefore unless directly brought into a conversation, was simply not part of the dreamers world.
