Heidi, still alone in her thoughts, hadn't even caught the arriving wolf's scent. She turned, startled, but relaxed when she saw sweet, dreamy Jess.
"Oh, good morning, dear," she said, her tone forcibly calm. "How was your night? The second night always seems the hardest for most of us."

“It was a good night actually,” Jess replied as she moved closer to the Beta female, looking around for somewhere to sit and relax while waiting for Kate to finish whatever it was he had to do. “The moon always makes me so lethargic, I suppose I’m lucky in that way.” She mentally shuddered at the thought of some of the younger wolves whose wolf sides ripped free during the three nights in a fury of claws and teeth.
“But then this morning, it turned out that Jeremy and Violet dyed Kate’s hair during the night. He’s not very happy about that. Poor thing.” She pouted slightly as she spoke, more upset over the fact that Kate was unhappy than the actual event itself.

"They dyed his hair?" Heidi repeated, shocked. "This has been a night," she murmured, more to herself than to Jess. "Well, the good thing about hair dye is that it's never a permanent thing; it will probably wash out before too long. Er...dare I ask...what color?"

Jess giggled suddenly, a bright grin on her face. It was the first time she had shown humour about the whole situation and while she was firmly on Kate’s side about the hair thing, she wasn’t so serious and stuffy about it not to laugh. So long as he didn’t hear her and think the laughter was mean or aimed at him. It was just a funny thing, and so long as one looked at it as if it was a story, she saw no reason in not being amused.
“Bright pink,” she confided to Heidi, her voice low and hushed. “I don’t know how they managed it without any of us waking up… he was very unhappy this morning.” Unhappy was a gross understatement but Heidi would know that. Everyone knew how Kate felt about his hair.

"Oh, dear." Heidi shook her head and chuckled, knowing just what she meant. "Not to be mean, but I hope someone suggests that Mara take a photograph." Pausing, she added with a laugh, "She should probably also photograph Jeremy and Violet! They might not live much longer!"
The two female wolves shared a good giggle at that. "Well," said Heidi at length, "I'm guessing you're waiting for him?" At Jess's nod, she nodded also. "I'll leave you to it, then. If anyone needs me, I'll be on the roof." With a parting smile, and feeling a little better already, she made her way out of the courtyard.

Jess returned the farewell smile of Heidi’s and settled herself more comfortably on the bench, patiently waiting for Kate. The main advantage of being such a huge dreamer as Jess was that she didn’t need a book or a game or anything like that to entertain herself when she was alone – or even with company.
All she needed was her mind and a single random thought to get her going. It could be something as simple and as ordinary as the flowers in front of her and before many moments had passed, she had slipped off into one of her dream worlds, spinning ideas and stories for herself, a soft and gentle smile on her face. Jess looked completely at peace with herself and the world as she sat there, her mind far, far away.

Continued from The Kitchen with Raze
Heidi had forgotten that the dreamy Jess might still be in the courtyard, but she looked perfectly content to remain where she was, so the Beta offered only a small wave before settling down in a different section of the courtyard to talk to Raze.
"All right," she said, sitting down and patting the spot next to her so Raze would do the same, "first of all -- you didn't do anything wrong. You just asked a question, and you surprised me. But that's not a bad thing."
Raze remained in the spot he was standing, tucking his hands in his pockets for a moment before sitting down beside his "mommy". The young fighter keeping his eyes lowered to the ground, giving a small heavy sigh. "Sorry..." He closed his eyes for a moment before focusing on a spot on the ground. "I shouldn't have spoken...out of turn."
"There was nothing wrong with what you asked me," Heidi said. "I kind of would rather you asked me when no one else was around, but it's all right. I got upset for reasons that have nothing to do with you, Raze, I promise. You didn't do anything wrong."
Raze balled up his fists in the fabric of his jeans for a moment before glancing up at Heidi. "I sh-should have waited..." he mused softly, chewing on his bottom lip again.
"You didn't know, honey. There was no way you could have known."
"No one else did." Raze couldn't help but be curious about that when he was in the kitchen when he first spoke. He should have just followed their lead.
"Well, it doesn't matter now. What's done is done...I just wanted to make sure you knew I wasn't angry." Heidi smoothed his hair a bit. "I probably made you think I was, and I'm sorry."
"No need to be sorry...I...I was the one who made you feel bad." He closed his eyes for a moment before looking up at the Beta, giving a weak smile.
"You didn't, honey. Like I said...you just surprised me. I didn't handle it very well." Heidi took a breath. "To actually answer your question, I smelled, or smell, like Will because I spent a lot of time with him last night."
Raze tilted his head to the side, blinking. "But...you've spent time with Will before."
"It was a little different this time. And it's likely to be pretty normal from now on," she added, pink.
Brown eyes met brown eyes for a long moment. "Mates?" He knew the word, from his old pack as well as from Cole's pack. But he liked Cole's pack meaning of the word better. It was much nicer.
Heidi chuckled. "It looks like that's going to be the case."
Raze knew that it was a happy occasion. Or...he supposed he should know. The younger wolf gave a small grin. "He makes you happier. I can tell."
"You can, huh?" She grinned back. "Yes...he does. So...you think it's a good idea?"
Raze thought for a moment. "Does that make him my daddy?" He mused softly before looking to Heidi for a moment. "I...I think it's a good idea."
"I don't know if that makes him your daddy," Heidi said with a smile. "I'll have to ask him about that. But I'm glad you like the idea of us being together, because I know I do."
Raze gave a sheepish grin. "He likes you." The fighter went quiet for a moment. "Does he give you a weird feeling when he's around, Mommy?"
"Weird? I guess that's one word for it." Heidi paused. "Why?"
Raze looked down for a moment, blinking wildly. "...I keep on getting a weird feeling when I...I'm with Flora."
"Ohhh. Well...it's a happy kind of feeling, right?"
He chewed on his bottom lip, giving a quick nod. "Y-Yeah..."
"Good. I like Flora," she added. "Speaking of whom, I expect she'll be joining us any minute. So do you feel better, honey?"
Raze nodded quickly. "Do you?"
"Yes." She leaned over to kiss his forehead. "Definitely."

Continued from: The Kitchen
Flora stepped out into the courtyard and saw Jess, spotting Heidi and Raze a moment later. She wasn’t sure if they had actually finished their conversation or not, so she decided that it’d be best to hang back until she was certain that they were done. The problem with that was the fact that there wasn’t much to do in the courtyard unless one was content to simply sit- or, unless one was Ananda and working with the garden. For Flora, though, it was just a nice place to go when she got it in her mind to go outside on a nice day and read. Or talk to someone. That was always good too.

"Ah, here she is." Heidi stood, beckoning to Flora. "Your timing is excellent," she assured the younger female, seeing a questioning look on her face. "We've had a nice long talk, and I'm sorry for asking you to wait inside. I had to make sure of some things." She smiled. "So...I'll leave you two to your afternoon together, shall I?"

Raze glanced over to Flora for a moment, canting his head to the side with a wide grin dancing across his face. "You going to talk to..." He sniffed the air for a moment, catching Marion's scent along with Flora's. "...Marion?" He smiled back at his mommy with a nearly happy glow in his brown eyes.

Surprised, Heidi sniffed at the air too. "You're right, it is Marion! I wonder when she arrived."
"Not long ago," Flora told them. "She's in the kitchen...she brought doughnuts."
Heidi snorted. "I sometimes swear the woman is psychic. I should go let Cole and Dia know she's here; I'm sure they want to hear what she has to tell us about Andrew. You two enjoy yourselves." She gave Raze's hair a gentle ruffle and patted Flora's shoulder before disappearing into the hotel.

Flora gave a little smile and settled on the bench, smoothing her skirt as she did so. Looking to Raze, she tilted her head slightly. "You want to sit down?" She wasn't going to just tell him to sit down, or even pat the seat as if telling him to. The choice was his and she wanted to make sure that it was perfectly clear that it was.
"I love these nice days." She smiled up at him. "They're perfect for doing exactly this."

Jess was still sitting on her bench and had been in fact since before Raze and Heidi had entered. The female werewolf had remained blissfully unaware of the entrances of either those two or that of Flora a couple of minutes after. Her wolf had taken in the scents almost subconsciously, but dismissed them because they were safe and known. If someone strange had entered it was likely she would have reacted.
Her head was cushioned by her arms on the side of the bench, hair falling around and covering her shoulders in an even spread. She smiled a little as she sat there, fully engrossed in her own little world and content for the moment to remain so. It was still early after all and despite no breakfast, Jess didn’t want to risk leaving the courtyard in case Kate showed up.

Raze canted his head to the side with a curious glow in his eyes. He didn't know exactly what days like this was perfect for doing. But it was nice to hear Flora speak...so he questioned nothing. Instead he sat himself on the bench, fidgeting slightly. The fighter was always used to sitting on the ground if anything. Chairs always felt uncomfortable to him. Beds too. But he had gotten over that.
"I...I'm not ruining any plans for you today, am I?" Everyone in the pack seemed to have one goal out of the day. Inconsisent goals as they were. He only had one for everyday. Live to see the next. It was a nice goal, he thought.

“Absolutely not,” Flora told him with a smile. “I didn’t have any plans for the day- I still don’t- except for trying to find something to do. And talking to and hanging out with you is definitely nicer than anything else I can come up with to do.” Suddenly a thought occurred to her. “I’m not keeping you from anything, am I?” Yes, Raze had suggested they go to the courtyard, but she couldn’t seem to help but suddenly worry that she might be keeping him from something far more interesting than talking to her and keeping him from something was one of those things that she really didn’t want to do.
