Marco narrowed his eyes, looking from her face to the money, and then up again. "What is this for?" he asked quietly, cocking his head a fraction, instinctual curiosity conflicting with confusion to make his thoughts a jumble.
Right at that moment, he was trying to figure out how she'd killed the male vampire. She hadn't stabbed him, or wounded him in any way; she'd simply allowed him to feed from her. For all intents and purposes, she had done nothing. How was it that the other vampire had died...?

Ah yes, the drink...
In truth, he'd forgotten about that. And he almost felt stupid for doing that. He regarded her, narrowing his eyes as he reached out and took the money. "I don't always control who gets in," he told her, glancing once more, briefly, to the dead vampire. He'd have to lock the back door until the sun rose and burned up the body; he didn't particularly feel like moving it, and he didn't want anyone finding it. "And you didn't hurt a human. Right now, I'm just confused."
Pausing, he considered how to word it, and then simply asked, "How did you do that, if you don't mind me asking?"

Marco wouldn't have forbidden her to leave if she hadn't answered; of course, his curiosity would have bugged him all night, but it could have been laid to rest.
Listening as she explained, his eyes narrowed pensively, and then he quirked a brow when she concluded her 'story'. He supposed he could be comforted by one thing about her tale, and one thing alone; if her blood was poisonous when ingested, then she could never make a vampire. After all, being bitten by a vampire wasn't enough to turn you - you had to drink of their blood as well, to complete the cycle and start the process to becoming one yourself.
"I've never heard of anything like that before," he murmured thoughtfully, but nevertheless, he angled his body closer to the wall, and the back door. "I won't ask anymore questions; you're free to leave..." He may not particularly like vampires, but he wasn't about to condemn her after she'd killed one of her own kind so freely. He was puzzled, but it was none of his business.

Watching her walk away, he glanced once more to the dead vampire, and then sighed heavily. There was no chance of him touching the body, in case it was discovered before the sun could incinerate it when it rose the next morning. If police discovered any fingerprints on it — if it was discovered at all, which hopefully wouldn’t happen — he certainly didn’t want them to be his. The last thing he needed was police finding out things about him.
Turning back to the door, he opened it, and slipped back inside.

Katrina stood on the rooftop, oblivious to anything going on in the other alleyways. If she knew about any of it, she gave no sign. Her thoughts were on other plans - plans that would take some work, but would be a great deal of fun when they went onward.
She turned her gaze to the sky - the sun would be up after a while - she needed to get home. And prep Eli for the full moon. Her lips curled into a smile. How much fun that would be...
She vanished into the night, heading back for home.

Continued from: Russo’s with Lynnette
Pulling into the parking lot of the club, the first thing Nick noticed was just how crowded the place was despite it still being rather early in the night. “Going to be a lot of drunks tonight,” he commented under his breath, shaking his head as he drove around the parking lot slowly, attempting to find somewhere to park that didn’t seem to be a mile away from the door.
It took a few minutes, but someone finally pulled out of a spot and he pulled into it quickly, not wanting to have to worry about someone taking it from him. With a satisfied grin at the eventual outcome, Nick switched off the car and got out, moving around to pull open Lynnette’s door. Yes, this had happened a fair few times tonight, but he had been taught to always open a door for a lady and he wasn’t about to throw all of his manners to the wind just because everyone else seemed to think that being rude was fashionable.
When she was out, he shut the door and locked the car, putting the keys into his pocket before turning and heading for the door of the club. Reaching it, he pulled it open and let Lynnette enter first, his eyes scanning the interior as he followed her.

"I'm trying to remember who said the line," Sarah remarked to Chris as they exited the club. "It's been a long time since I read Macbeth. I think it was Malcolm, the prince."
It was a warm evening, as they usually were in Los Angeles, and she looked around with vague disinterest. "Where did you want to go for the food?"

“Well in that case, you mean ‘Lay on, MacDuff’,” he corrected casually with a little smirk to one side of his mouth. “And don’t expect me to start speaking with an accent…”
Chris trailed off, slowing his pace as he looked past Sarah, over her head; it wasn’t difficult for him to do anyway, but something had caught his eyes down the shadowy alley running alongside the Onyx, and it made him want to stop, and watch. Reaching out, he used Sarah’s shoulder to turn her, making it look as if they were stopping to have a conversation. The observation wouldn’t look so blatant then.
There were at least two people in the alley, and something had just exchanged hands. Chris became subconsciously aware of the gun at his ankle, and the badge that he carried off-duty, inside his other inner jacket pocket. “Play along,” he mumbled to Sarah. “There’s that burger joint on the corner near where we live,” he continued, as if absolutely nothing was out of the ordinary, and he hadn’t noticed two people quite possibly dealing drugs not thirty feet away.

Sarah wasn't entirely sure what was going on, but she trusted Chris's instincts. "Okay, that sounds good. Do you think they still have that Hawaiian burger I liked so much last time we were there?" It was all she could do not to turn around and see who it was that he was keeping under surveillance.

Chris was about to respond to her question about the burger, when he saw the money change hands. He gave Sarah a brief glance, meeting her gaze meaningfully, before breaking off to the side. Effectively, she now blocked one end of the alley while he closed off the second half, near the front of the club. His eyes lifted, and fixed solely on the man’s face, as he started walking towards the two sergeants.
They do say ignorance is bliss, Chris couldn’t help thinking, even as he quickly committed the details of the young man’s face to memory; more a subconscious act than anything. He immediately went on ‘cop autopilot’.
“Y’know, most dealers have the brains to do their business further down the alley,” he said to the young man as he unwittingly closed the distance, potentially making his arrest easier. “More shadow; not so painfully obvious you’re breaking the law…”

Chris offered a wry smile, tilting his head slightly to the side in a kind of amused manner.
“Obviously you’re not too bothered about watching what’s going on around you while you deal. We’ve been standing at the end of the alley for a while; saw it change hands. Bit of a giveaway…” He paused. “And I don’t know many people who are ‘secretive’ about selling watches.”

“Oh, right, because there aren’t enough people on the street corners during the day to supply that kind of knockoff crap.” Chris smiled sarcastically. “Probably cheaper too.” He gestured to where he’d seen the young man conceal his bundle of cash.
Chris was tense; ready. It was only a matter of time until the suspect turned tail and ran, unless he was the cockiest, most over-confident man in Los Angeles… and the tall sergeant very much doubted that. He looked as if he knew what was going on, anyway, and that gave him a measure of intelligence, at least, in Chris’ eyes… but nowhere near enough to make him completely forget about the drugs that he’d just handed off to another person.
“Are we done playing the ‘I have no idea what you’re talking about’ game? It gets old fast…”

Sarah flinched inwardly, though she managed to keep her expression collected. She glanced at Chris, but she didn't really have to; she already knew what was going through his mind, and what he was about to do.
"You know what?" she told the dealer. "That was the dumbest thing you've ever said in your life."

Sarah’s partner remained silent. He didn’t laugh, and he didn’t offer any kind of angry or sarcastic retort. He heard Sarah behind him, and actually smirked, sly and subtle. He half-glanced back at his partner… or made it look like he was going to.
And then, quite without warning, he swung around, lashing out and landing a heavy punch across the younger man’s face; if it wasn’t enough to throw him off his feet, it would at least be enough to send a clear, powerful message.
‘Watch your mouth, moron’…

Chris dodged enough of the return swing for it to not do too much damage, but he still felt the blow, and his head jerked briefly to the side, before he recovered… to find a switchblade in his face.
“Well, there’s a nice, brave retaliation,” he remarked, in something of a deadpan manner. He gave another half-smirk, and lifted a brow. “Let’s see… right now, you’ve got possession, and then there’s the obvious ‘marketing’, with a nice, healthy dose of assault on a police officer… and it looks like you’re all too eager to add attempted murder?” He cocked his head slightly, trusting Sarah to react and interfere before this turned ugly.
“Why didn’t you just say you wanted a nice, private room at a state prison?”
