"We'll have it towed for you." Kath's replied to Iris' question about her car. She nodded to Marcus, her expression stony and professional once more. He of all people knew her game face and while she was mildly annoyed by his slip up, she wasn't going to call him on it. Not in front of the two sisters. He was probably well aware of his error anyway. Kath' turned to Iris and Poppy, "Detective Wiles over there's going to drive you two to the Station, okay? Detective Rivera and I will take follow with Mr. Fey." She spoke as much to her brother as she did to the sisters. She wasn't on duty but she couldn't help being a control freak and taking a decisive stance.
She was concerned about the part of the statement that Iris had made regarding the interest the woman had shown in the young man, it was possible she could have targeted him in the first place somehow and might decide that she wasn't finished with him yet. Therefore she was absolutely going to stick with him herself, and two Detectives were better than one. She'd put a uniform with Wiles in the other car to keep the sisters safe and make a call for a tow truck to come get Iris' car, once they had her home address.

His hand tightened noticeably around the crumbling stone of the church, fingers digging into crooks and crannies made by years of rain lashing down on the stone and wearing away at it, seeking a way inside even at the cost of the outer stone itself. Denny could feel the stone biting into his fleshy fingers, reminding him that he was just flesh and blood, that nothing lasted for ever in the mortal world – as had been harshly proven with the death of his friend.
Behind him, the young Welshman could vaguely hear the murmur of voices, Iris, Detective Rivera and one of the female cops, but he couldn’t quite make out what they were saying and frankly, he couldn’t really find it in himself to sum up the energy to get back into the conversation and thus real life. These moments hid him from reality and he clung to them.

Quietly, Marcus appreciated that Katherine would obviously at least wait until they were alone until she called him on his slip. He wasn’t even sure what had possessed him to say it in the first place; he couldn’t remember the last time he had said that kind of thing, and he couldn’t help but wonder if perhaps it didn’t have something to do with the fact that he felt letting her go once was enough. He’d lost sight of her, after all, when normally, he wouldn’t have had a problem catching someone like that woman. It was still bothering him, and he was sure it would continue to bother him.
He agreed with his sister’s decision. It was better that two detectives stay with someone who was apparently being targeted; Wiles could manage the sisters himself, along with a uniformed officer for backup. He glanced over at his partner, who hovered near Deiniol, and sighed to himself. Looking to Katherine meaningfully, he nodded to the sisters, and then detached himself from the group to get things underway.
“Mr. Fey?” he called gently, not wanting to startle the man after everything that had happened. “Mr. Fey, if you’re ready, we’re going to head back to the station now, okay? You’ll ride with…” Dammit, this was why working with his sister made things difficult. “You’ll ride with Detective Rivera and myself,” he persisted, hoping he wouldn’t confuse Deiniol too badly, “and Iris and Poppy are going to go with my partner, Detective Wiles. They’ll lead the way.”
After a second, he added in a subtle prompt, “Are you ready?” He understood that it had to be hard, but it would be good for the young man to get away from the place; though it may have meant a lot to him, he would likely never think of it the same way again, after tonight.

At the look given to her by the nice Detective – her mind was slowly starting to shut down from the stress of the night, making it hard to remember things, even something as simple and as recent as learning his name hard to do, lacking the energy – Poppy moved forward again, intent on not stopping this time until she had reached her target destination.
The young woman nodded ever so slightly in greeting to the woman standing next to Iris, the good manners her parents had instilled in her still present despite the less than pleasant circumstances. She reached out, fingers lightly brushing down her sister’s arm in reassurance, the touch and solid feel of skin making Poppy feel much better.
“Iris?” she asked softly, lifting brown eyes to stare at the other woman’s face, every question she wanted to ask wrapped up in the way she had said the name.

The mention of having her car towed for her put that problem immediately out of her mind. Since it was going to be taken care of, there was no sense in thinking on it more. Problem solved, time to move on.
At the tone of her sister’s voice, Iris immediately began attempting to pull herself back together fully. Poppy needed her to be strong right now. Later, once she was alone, she could break down all she wanted to. Right now, though, she needed to keep her composure if she wanted to comfort her sister.
Iris rested a hand on Poppy’s arm and gave a little, all but unnoticeable nod. I’m fine. Everything is going to be fine. It covered a lot of bases and she just hoped that it was all true.

Katherine turned to the two sisters and signalled a uniformed officer over one of their shoulders who started to move over to them. She observed their interaction quietly and next gestured towards the cars and began ushering the sisters towards them. She trusted Marcus to get Fey into the back of the car they'd be taking and allowed her attention to focus on the women.
"Alright. Let's get going." She said gently as they moved, eyes skimming the path between them and the cars and the surrounding area for any movement that might be off to the sides. It was her job to stay alert and to keep the civilians safe while they were in her charge.

The sound of his name jolted Denny out of the repeating loop of thoughts, ones that chased each other around in circles, each eating the tail of the next one like an endless circle of snakes. Denny's fingers suddenly felt numb, normally sensitive pads no longer feeling the crumbling stone of the church and pulled away. He looked down at the rosary in his hand, wooden beads cutting into his skin and leaving impressions in his palm and slowly unwound it, fingers slipping over the glossy objects , highly polished beads and crucifix. Carefully, he slipped the rosary back into his pocket, where it belonged and turned, letting his attention rest wholly on Detective Rivera, faint frown crinkling his forehead.
He glanced to the woman, the one he guessed was the other Detective Rivera, mind belatedly springing to life and noting tiny similarities between the too. Not really in obvious looks but in the way they held themselves, the shape of their faces and the colouring. Siblings, Denny guessed as the frown faded.
“I'm ready,” Denny agreed, looking around at the church entrance one final time. He didn't know when he would next be able to look at the innocent outside without being horrified and thinking of what had taken place within. Denny looked back to the other man, pushing such thoughts out of his mind. He would have to face them all again tomorrow, when he began the process of cleaning up, even if only figuratively. There would have to be a new father brought in or a makeshift church made... once again he pushed the thoughts away, wanting to be selfish and think of himself just this once. Cleaning could wait.

Marcus assumed, from the quiet kind of understanding that Deiniol displayed, that he had figured out the double-Rivera explanation for himself. He seemed like a bright guy; Marcus didn’t doubt it had come to him quickly after a moment of study. He supposed, working in churches, Deiniol Fey had seen all types of people, and perhaps he’d developed a talent for picking up little details, but he wasn’t about to ask. It was so far from important he had to mentally kick himself to get right back on track, though in reality, his mind’s wandering had only lasted a second.
Giving a nod, Marcus walked with Deiniol back to the cars. Katherine was seeing the sisters to the back of a patrol car, which Wiles stood alongside, waiting silently. Marcus led Deiniol to the unmarked car they would be following in; he glanced to his sister as he passed her, and escorted the younger man to the rear of the car, opening the door for him. He didn’t want to pressure Deiniol, but he wanted to be able to get this over with as soon as possible, so the man could mourn the loss of a friend, and come to terms with what had happened here.
Marcus’ blue eyes looked up the exterior of the church, and he gave a heavy but quiet sigh. On some level, he’d always found churches… ‘creepy’… this entire incident only made that more intense.

If Poppy clung and held onto a little closer to Iris than she might normally do, then she was sure that nobody was going to call her on it. After all, with the recent events then nobody would blame her for being a little shook up. She knew she wasn’t a particularly brave person, or particularly strong – certainly not as brave or strong as Iris – and even though the woman hadn’t even looked in her direction, let alone touched her or tried to hurt her, she couldn’t seem to calm down or relax at all.
She moved a pace behind Iris as they were carefully herded towards the awaiting car, tired eyes noting but not really comprehending Denny climbing into another car. All Poppy wanted to do now was curl up in her bed with a mug of hot chocolate the way her nanny had made it when she was a child, put on some music and pretend the world didn’t exist.

He silently climbed inside the car, wondering as he did why his emotions were changing so wildly. One moment he’d be panicking, thoughts spinning wildly around and the next he would feel drained of full energy. Denny sighed, leaning his head back on the headrest and let his eyes drift shut. Instantly he could see the bright red blood spatter on the church stone, along with the thought that no matter how hard he scrubbed, he was never going to be able to wash that stain away, he was always going to see it when he stepped inside that building.
Groaning slightly, Denny opened his eyes again. It seemed as if he would have to physically tire himself out a little more before he could sleep without dreams. At least he still had all the tedium of going down to the station, of repeating himself over and over. Denny almost enjoyed tedium, or rather the safety and structure it provided.

Hot bath and then to bed, Iris decided. That was what she was going to do when she finally got home. Maybe she would just soak in a nice bubble bath and try to forget about everything. Of course, then she would have to snap back to reality at some point and that was going to be annoying. The pictures she had taken tonight would have to be developed and then when she looked at them… well, she certainly wouldn’t be surprised if she ended up reliving the events that had occurred in the church. Nightmares were even likely, but if they did come, she wasn’t going to let anyone know. She could deal with this. She had to.
Sliding into the car, Iris had the feeling that the night was going to be tedious to the point of her wanting to hit something. She already did want to do that, but repeating herself just put her in a bad mood and that atop what had happened in the church- she was going to be lucky if there wasn’t a hole in her bedroom wall come sunrise.

Katherine shut the door behind the two sisters and turned to the uniformed officer who had accompanied them over, and Wiles who stood beside him. They had a clipped conversation, what was going to get done once they got to the Station. She knew with Wiles in the car they'd be safe as houses and everything would be taken care of. It was all procedure, both men knew it all already but Kath' was covering all the bases with this one. She nodded tartly when they were done, gave a 'See you at Home Base,' and headed over to the unmarked car. Deiniol Fey was already in the back and Marcus was standing along side the vehicle, waiting for her.
The Church would be likely be sealed up for a long time with the investigation and though all the Detectives would be off the scene for now there was still a heavy presence of uniformed officers and the CSI team. "Ready when you are." She said over the hood of the car. She used a grim professional tone as she walked around to the passenger side, naturally assuming her brother would be driving. She got in and started to buckle up, having to shift her Beretta automatically with the position of the seat, which she also moved forwards. Wiles, who had ridden shotgun down there, was a lot taller than she and the detective didn't like looking like the seat swallowed her. It was unprofessional looking in her opinion and though she wasn't consciously thinking about that right at the moment, the back of her mind was always ticking away on such things.

After he’d shut the door gently and securely behind Deiniol, he’d moved to the driver side of the car, keys ready in his hand, waiting for Katherine. He’d nodded to Wiles before he’d gotten in the patrol car, and his partner had returned the gesture. The Riveras and their charge would be right behind him, all the way to the station. He’d watched as Kath’ went over what would happen, not even needing to hear her voice to know what she was saying, and why; he could predict her, like clockwork, and she could do the same with him. That was just how they worked.
Looking up the steps leading into the church, Marcus saw they had already erected crime scene tape; it never took them long. They must have done it after they’d all slipped out, unless he just hadn’t noticed stepping under it. Either was possible, though he suspected it was the former; he was on edge, and didn’t expect he’d simply not paid attention. Or at least he hoped so.
Slipping into the car after Kath’ gave him his cue, he shut his door behind him, and grabbed his belt. Like his sister, he had to shift his sidearm to buckle it properly, an automatic motion; his belt-knife never bothered him, so he simply left it where it was. He glanced over the shoulder of his seat, checking that Deiniol was ready, before he looked to Kath’. Nodding to himself, he turned on the car, waited for the squad in front of them to pull out from the sidewalk, and followed them down the street, giving a quiet sigh as he put the church in their rear view.

"You okay, kiddo?"
"M'fine, Pete."
"...You sure?"
"Yes, dad."
A brief silence. Peter's stare was calculating. "...You're mocking me."
"Wouldn't dream of it."
Her partner chuckled and sighed, exasperated. "Roxie..."
"Let's just get back to the lab, eh?"
