Yelena did not look impressed by the show of defiance and she could already hear sirens approaching beyond the heavy walls of the Church which just made her temper kick up a gear. The woman in her grasp didn't seem to know just how deep the shit was that she was in, even with the police on her way. She snarled openly and used her free hand to grab the front the woman's clothes, around the waist line. With supernatural strength she lifted the brunette off her feet and pulled her close to settled a cold, short and bloody kiss against her mouth, Father MacKenizie life force still clinging to her pale skin in streaks and flecks that transferred in their sticky state.
"Then hang on for the ride, honey, because it's going... to be... rough." on the final word she tossed her backwards into the waiting pew, back first and upright, aiming to have her in something close to a sitting position. Before a beat had passed she had turned to face the male and was stalking towards him. The stench of blood was heady and making her feel something other than encroaching boredom for the first time in years, the crimson mess soaking out from the confessional behind her. She had to move fast. There wasn't much time to play.

His first instinct had been to move forward, to try and pull Iris away and help in some kind. Even call out that he would go with the insane woman if only to get her to put Iris down without hurting her. The next moment though the woman was throwing her through the air and he drew in a sharp gasp of breath, unable to process it. She had to be on drugs or something, to give her that kind of strength.
Things seemed to be moving too fast for Denny, the young man stuck in some mental fatigue for the next second the monster was stalking towards him. He backed away from her, almost falling over his own feet in his efforts to get away from the killer, Iris for once not forefront in his mind, terror over taking everything else. All he knew was that he couldn’t let her touch him, because if she wanted to take him somewhere then that was… that was bad, his mind refusing to come up with anything more original than that.

Yelena was not smiling anymore, she was not speaking either, no witty comments came, just an occasional soft snarl of anger. She was annoyed and feeling more than a little morose that things were not going her way and if it came to it she was not above breaking bones to get what she wanted and get away. She watched with a sick kind of satisfaction as the man backed away from her, real terror in his eyes at her approach. Without warning she moved faster, faster than she should have been able to move so suddenly, not sparing much though for anything but her target. An open hand impacted on his chest and fingers grabbed his clothing, Yelena wrenched him forwards then tipped him back, wanting to slam him down upon the ground as a hand wrapped its way around his throat.

Denny couldn’t silence the shout of panic and fear that came out as the woman grabbed him and pulled him forward, pocessing strength of several men. The room spun wildly as he first went forward and then back, cold hand wrapped around his neck and squeezing, cutting his air supply. What little that had been in his lungs was knocked out as his back collided with the floor, a soft ‘oof’ sound and then he couldn’t breath, struggling frantically against the inhuman power holding him.
As if from a distance he wondered if this was what Father MacKenzie had felt in the seconds before his death, if she had done this to him as well. Denny wheezed pathetically, hands reaching up without conscious through to try and tug at her hand and get it off his neck. Black spots danced in front of his eyes, feeling his energy wane and start to slip away, the shout and loss of air in the fall having worked seriously against him. Fingers touched icy cold skin, fingers that still held his Rosary, the religious item having completely slipped his mind in the panic as he wrapped his own hands around hers.

Continued from: Main Entrance with Katherine and Wiles.
Movements quiet but swift, the three Homicide detectives moved into the church’s main body, and it didn’t take long for the tallest of the three to spot their suspect; a pale woman with dark hair, pinning a young man to the ground — not far away was someone he assumed to be Iris Marcus, the sister of the young woman outside. She looked dazed, as if she’d been thrown to the side, and the scene on the ground didn’t exactly inspire a sense of calm in the detective.
His gun lifted, arms steady as he aimed, his left hand supporting his dominant firing arm, his eyes locking on the woman in the bloodied expensive coat.
“LAPD!” His voice was loud, calling and echoing through the body of the church. “Keep your hands where we can see them, and back away!” His finger inched towards the trigger; even from where he stood, creeping closer in case they needed to ‘leap’ into action, he could practically smell blood, and there was a telltale patch of gory scarlet behind the scuffle.
Marcus wasn’t exactly what one would call religious, but even he was nauseated at the thought of such a brutal homicide in a church. His jaw was set grimly, and his eyes were fixed firmly on the woman. If she gave him a reason, he wouldn’t hesitate to squeeze the trigger…

She was enjoying the sensation of forcing her new toy into unconsciousness when she felt something burning her flesh; a familiar sensation. She knew instantly it was a holy object and jerked backwards with a cross between a snarl and a roar of both anger and annoyance. A rosary was wrapped in his hand and she spat onto the ground, shaking her hand out angrily in response. The one downside of hitting a Church, it was full of the damned things. She batted his arm to the side in a pit of rage but before she could do much more than grab his wrist a voice sounded behind her. The police, it seemed, had finally entered. She released the man beneath her and straightened up a little, her back remaining to the voice and movement behind her.
Katherine's gun was trained steadily on the pale woman who seemed now to simply be standing over a man, her arms at her sides. "Hands in the air, now!" she added, her own voice matching her brother's for volume.
Yelena looked down at Denny and sighed dramatically and rolled her eyes up to the ceiling, but did as she was told, raising her gory hands to her shoulder level and then up a little higher. She paused, eyes returning to the figure below her as she did so, as if about to continue complying. She winked. Then she ran.

Denny gasped in huge mouthfuls of air, not caring right now why she had let go of his throat, only that she had and he could breathe. Shouts rang out around the church, high ceilings making the voices echo slightly – or perhaps it was just the pounding in his head that made them ring as he tried to get his breathing under control. His gaze cleared just in time to look up and see her looking back down at him and winking. She moved rapidly, vanishing from his sight but he didn’t seem to notice, terror clawing at him. The wink scared him more than anything she had physically done to him, because the voices had been cops. And yet she had winked, as if she knew something they didn’t…
His hand was shaking as he lifted it to touch his neck, dabbing at it with the pads of his fingers. They came away wet and red, the shaking increasing as he realised what the liquid on his neck was. Part of Father MacKenzie. If he had enough air to breathe properly, he would have heaved. As it was, all he could do was settle for harsh gasping and a broken sob like sound as he twitched on the ground.

Instinct kicked in like a switch inside of Marcus’ head triggering, and as soon as the suspect bolted, he gave a sharp, hissed curse, and took off after her, holstering his gun as he went so he could use his arms for balance. He heard Katherine shout after him, but shouted back for her and Wiles to take care of the two people left behind. He would be fine. He was armed, he was trained, and even though a church could hold all kinds of dangerous nooks and crannies, he wouldn’t let himself make any stupid mistakes.
He didn’t let his eyes coast over the bloody body as he tore past it, holding his breath as he passed so he would suck in a lungful of air ripe with gore and death, and careened around the corner, desperate to keep the alarmingly fast woman in sight.
“LAPD!” he bellowed after her. “Stop!” He knew it wouldn’t work, but it was automatic. Marcus had shouted the command before he’d even registered it, applying a new burst of speed just so he could keep the dark-haired, pale-skinned woman in sight.
Dammit, she was fast!

Arms swung to keep her balance as she careened through the back of the church, her boots clattered agianst the floor and her body moved with quite frankly terrifying speed and all Yelena could think of was getting out of the damned Church. She'd be able to find... Deiniol again, but not if she was arrested by the police, an event that would shine a light on her non-life that she didn't want. She found herself already in the back rooms, administration, the dressing rooms and such and she headed out down the right, hitting a door with full force and ripping out of it into the night, leaving the door behind her swinging on its hinges.

Marcus growled to himself as he tried to keep pace, feeling his side start to burn in sharp protest. Dammit, not now… not now!
He kept his breathing swift and controlled as he hurtled around the last bend, managing to avoid the door swinging back to smash him in the face by turning his shoulder into it, balancing himself reflexively as he found himself outside the main church, the moonlight from above shining down to wash over his black hair and equally dark jacket, and he didn’t even pause to collect himself before he caught sight of her retreating form.
The young detective saved his breath, knowing it was useless to call after her when she had already ignored commands; his only hope of stopping her was catching up to her, and that meant piling on the speed, something his already-protesting ribs were not going to appreciate. But to hell with that; the woman had, apparently, brutally murdered a priest, of all people. Marcus couldn’t just let her go. Not without trying.

Katherine had shouted after Marcus on impulse and concern but she did as he asked and stayed behind, all thoughts for now were still with the case. She would give her brother an earful later if she had to. She made for the girl in the pews, noting the uniformed officers and Wiles fanning out behind and around her to secure the scene and help the young man up from the floor. Kath' she returned her attention to the woman, her primary concern. She kept her gun down but didn't holster it right away, eyes scanning the space sharply. When she turned them to the woman they softened and she bent down slightly, trying to gain eye contact and noticing how dazed she looked,
"Miss? I'm Detective Rivera with the LAPD. You're sister's okay, she's outside and she's okay. I need you to sit tight alright?" she looked around and signalled for one of their uniformed back up to get a hold of a Paramedic and send him over, she pointed sharply over at the man behind her too. Katherine wanted them both checked out as soon as possible.

Iris had very vaguely heard what was going on around her. Landing on the pew had hurt, but everything that had happened seemed to have managed to hit her all at once, overwhelming her and thrusting her into a daze as her mind tried to wrap itself around the events.
What actually managed to snap her out of it was the news that Poppy was okay, those words clicking in her mind and snapping her back to reality. She managed to meet the detective’s gaze and give a little nod before her stomach gave an unpleasant twist and her hand flew up to wipe at her mouth, coming away stained with the blood the priest’s killer had left on her. The priest’s blood. “Oh, God…”

Hands touched his shoulder and he flinched automatically before registering that it didn’t belong to that woman – or any woman – but in fact a youngish looking man who flashed a badge at him, speaking in a low soothing tone. Denny allowed himself to be helped to his feet, feeling the world almost recede. He felt dazed and confused with the small part of his mind pointing out that he appeared to be slipping into shock.
The Welshman turned slightly, scanning the room and taking in the female officer talking to Iris – who thankfully seemed alive and well – before his eyes settled on the confessional box and the pool of crimson blood seeping out onto the stones around it. He had moved forward before he was even aware of his actions only to be brought up short by Detective Wiles.
“Please,” Denny begged, his voice hoarse from the attempted strangulation and eyes fixed on Wiles’s face. “He was my friend. I just… I just want to say something, I won’t touch,” He stumbled forward again and this time the other man let him, sticking close by as he moved no doubt to leap into action should Denny either try and contaminate the scene or fall over – the latter being more and more likely. Already he was regretting standing up, the room swimming slightly as he moved to stand a little way from the body, hunched over himself protectively.

She reached into her pocket as a paramedic came along and settled himself in a crouch next to the young woman, he started checking her over and Katherine pulled out a clean handkerchief which she offered to the brunette upon seeing her reaction to the blood that didn't seem to be her own. The detective noticed that another paramedic was making his way to the young man who had now moved away from Wiles but was still under a watchful gaze. Reassured she smiled gently at the woman in the pew. She seemed relatively unscathed, compared to the horror merely feet away but Kath's suspected that more of the damage could be emotional. Instantly the 'Spidey' senses of hers told her that there was something seriously out of kilter here. She holstered her weapon, the safety catch slid into place but the buckle on the leather case undone for now. There was enough of a police presence in the Church now and the urge to keep it drawn was born of her concern for her brother. She was impatient and wondering why he wasn't back yet. But she pushed all that away.
"You're alright now, you're okay. Just take deep breaths." she said, her voice reassuring as she lowered herself carefully onto the edge of the pew beside Iris, intending to be more personal, not just a badge to the obviously shaken woman. CSI could have her pants if she was sitting in evidence. "I'm Katherine. Can you tell me your name?"

“Requiescat in pace my friend…” Denny whispered, gaze almost blank and emotionless as he stared at the grim spectacle a few feet away from him. He ignored the paramedic who tried to speak to him, to catch his attention in any way, whole attention rigidly fixed on the body. He cleared his throat a few times, the first word sticking in his throat before he finally began to speak, knowing that it was what MacKenzie would have wanted that it was out of respect.
“Incline Thine ear, O Lord, unto our prayers, wherein we humbly pray Thee to show Thy mercy upon the soul of Thy servant…” Denny trailed off and gulped slightly, his thin frame shaking out of some suppressed emotion before he carried on, voice low. “Thy servant William MacKenzie, whom Thou hast commanded to pass out of this world, that Thou wouldst place him in the region of peace and light, and bid him be partaker with Thy Saints. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.” With the prayer done, he felt empty and passive, letting the paramedic steer him away from the body without a word of protest.
