“Great,” Brody confirmed, having turned his head in the direction of their Beta female. Looking back to Devon, he offered the slightly younger male an amused smirk, watching him devour the pizza eagerly. Averting his eyes, he focused them on Molly. “We should go and claim some space in the TV lounge,” he recommended, even though he knew many pack members who had shuffled in there already would be heading back up to bed, having only showed themselves to confirm with one another that they were all right, and ready for another night; either that, or they’d simply used the lounge as a go-between while they ate their breakfast.
“Thanks for the offer, Heidi,” he said gratefully to the blonde female, offering her a smile before refilling his mug. To Molly he said, “Shall we?”

It was the scent of coffee brewing that drew a very strung-out-looking Beta male to the kitchen, though he might have headed there anyway, at some point. Steven never had been a morning person, and this morning was most definitely not an exception. His head was pounding, and his eyes burned slightly, that strained feeling bugging him. Damn TV screen . . . Should have known staring at it for over twelve hours straight would have consequences . . . Grumbling inwardly, he shuffled into the kitchen, slouching rather unhealthily, and stopped in the doorway when he saw how many people were already gathered there. Well . . . at least he wasn't alone? Then again, maybe I should be, this morning, at least until I'm not ready to keel over . . .

Heidi glanced up from where she was putting the first of the freshly-cooked slices of french toast onto a plate, and turning over the bacon. "Oh, Steven....I don't even want to know why you look like an extra in a Bruce Campbell movie," she clucked. Taking a clean mug from the dishwasher, she paused in her cooking to pour him some coffee. "Sit. Drink. Here, you two, have some french toast, the bacon will be ready in a minute." She handed the food which was ready to Devon and indicated he should share with Steven.

Continued from: The Basement
As Devon set the fresh plate of french toast upon the small kitchen table and beckoned the bedraggled Steven over with a laugh, William slipped in. The fighter gave a brief yawn, which he covered, and then smiled.
"Morning, all," he greeted, a surprisingly cheerful tone in his heavy brogue. His smile only widened when he noted that his Beta had manned the stove. "Sweet Heidi, you're going to make us all horribly fat with all of this wonderful cooking."

Molly granted her blonde cowboy a smile and a nod before holding up a finger as a sign that she'd only be a moment. Stealthily, she snatched up a bit of french toast from the plate and skidded over to Heidi, giving a hug round the middle as thanks. The young Irish wolf then nearly barreled poor William over with a hug, then turned to Brody with a raised eyebrow?
'Well?' the gesture said.

"Morning, William," Heidi said as the tall fighter entered. At his praise to her cooking, she flashed him an appreciative smile. "Not much chance of that, with the workouts you and Mileena give each other!"
She looked startled, though gratified, at the unexpected burst of affection from Molly before the younger wolf departed. Still smiling, she put the bacon on the table, followed shortly by the milk, sugar, and coffeepot. "Help yourselves, there's more coming."

Chuckling at all the sudden new arrivals and non-stop exchange of teasing and quips, Brody gave a wave to Heidi and the others, pausing only to reach across the table and steal himself some of the freshly-cooked bacon and a piece of the toast for good measure. Balancing them in his hand, his other occupied with a coffee mug, he turned back to Molly.
"We'll be in the TV lounge if anyone wants to come crash after breakfast," he invited the group in general, before giving a parting nod of his head, and then leading the way out, past Cole and Mara at the counter, and towards the lounge.

"Don't mind if I do," William wheezed, slightly winded from Molly's sneak attack. How she maintained her usual bounce even after the full moon, he would never know. There was probably enough energy there to power a small city.
Regaining enough of his sense to atleast return the hug before Molly tore off again, the Scotsman chuckled and then beamed at Heidi once more. "Any way I can be of assistance?" he inquired.

"Oh, thanks, Will," Heidi replied distractedly, stirring cinnamon and vanilla into the beaten eggs, "but I've got everything under control. Just chow down."
Mara walked into the kitchen, and took a deep breath. "I smell ambrosia in the form of coffee.... please tell me there's enough left for me?" She smiled a trifle nervously at the large group in the kitchen.
Heidi looked up as Cole and Mara joined the club. "Good morning," she said pleasantly. "I thought you might be hungry, Mara, after your first night in the basement, so there's plenty of food. Dig in -- there's coffee, and I think there's orange juice still in the fridge, if the kids didn't demolish it already."

Continued from: The Lobby with Mara.
The greeting from the Beta female was met with a smile and a nod. Glancing briefly and reassuringly to Mara, he wandered over towards the counter, past the table where everyone was digging into their provided breakfast. "Are you playing provider again, Heidi?" he asked his second-in-command female, stifling a laugh at Steven's rather poor condition.
Someone spent the night on an outdated game's console, he thought with amusement. Leaning against the counter, he glanced to Heidi once more, and then back to the table, trying to decide if he was hungry enough to join them, or whether he should wait until Dia ventured downstairs.

"You know me too well, chief," Heidi replied, adding another dab of butter to the skillet and enjoying the sizzling sound it made.
The truth of the matter was that Heidi was, in many ways, happiest when she was doing exactly what she was doing -- looking after the large brood in some capacity. It seemed to reassure her wolf of their usefulness, and their value to the pack. And after the mournful ruminations of the evening previous, that was a welcome feeling.

Mara poured herself a mug of coffee, adding milk and moved to watch Heidi. "That smells brilliant - I don't think I've ever had real french toast - it's not really an Aussie thing." She sipped the coffee and looked around, making eye contact with everyone in the room. Cole's presence made it easier to relax, and Heidi's easy manner had done wonders.
As had the coffee... she finished the mug faster than she expected and turned to the pot. "Oops. I drained it. I better make more before another fight breaks out." She gave a grin to show she was joking and hoped that her sense of humor would not go astray in this company.

"The percolator's over here," Heidi said, pointing past Cole to the countertop. "Little bit of advice for you, Mara," she added as she continued dunking bread in the egg mixture. "If you can make good coffee, you will never lack for friends in this pack!" She threw the newest wolf a grin over her shoulder, then turned her attention back to the cooking.

Conversation in the mornings was NOT Steven's strong point, and he wasn't about to start working on that now. Instead, he remained flopped in his chair, sipping at the coffee Heidi had given him when he first walked in. His head was aching, and every time someone said something, it sent an annoying spike into his temple. Ugh . . . And THIS is why I avoid morning conversation . . . He grumped to himself quietly, his head bowed, body slouched in his chair as he nursed his drink. Damn . . . This would be better with a lil' whiskey added . . . Wonder if I could get some . . . Good old Irish coffee. That's what the Irish wolf needed, and was starting to crave. At least it would take the edge off things.

Chuckling at Steven as the Beta male slowly nursed the coffee from his mug, Cole turned his eyes to Heidi instead. She seemed to be in much better spirits than when he had last seen her, and for that, he was glad. Heidi wasn’t just his second-in-command-female, she was a close, treasured friend, and he hated seeing her in any semblance of unhappiness. It wasn’t just part of being Alpha, but rather an instinctual bond he felt with all the wolves in the pack. If any of them weren’t happy, and he knew about it, then it bothered him. He hadn’t yet figured out if all werewolves felt that way in the kind of family unit that a pack truly was, and he honestly wasn’t about to ask.
Turning his gaze to the others in the kitchen, he listened as they joked and bantered between themselves, smiling in a subtle fatherly fashion as he leaned back against the counter.
