Continued from: The Hallway [/I]
Coming into the library, Dia did a quick scan of the room, seeing exactly who she was looking for. "Hey Sissy," she said, acknowledging her with a nod and smile as she headed over to take a seat near the older female present. "Well that was an interesting gathering." She of course, meant the events of breakfast. By the slight smirk it probably wouldn't be hard for Heidi to figure out specifically what she was referring to.

Heidi glanced up from her book, even as Sissy returned the Alpha female's greeting. "Hi, Dia," she said pleasantly. She knew exactly what her friend was getting at, but she decided to play stupid. "I suppose it was, yes. Poor Steven looked practically hungover."
She was in for a mighty amount of teasing -- she could see that already. But it was Dia, with Sissy watching, so Heidi didn't mind...too much.

The book that Heidi was still pretending to read? "Yeah, Steven's still there, still not awake." For the moment she's going with it. "I left him in Ash's capable hands. But I thought the behavior of more wakeful members of the pack would be lingering in your memory." Her smirk was pretty much a smile by now. Yes, she was having fun with this.

"Well, Asher did annoy me a little with his breakfast requests," Heidi replied mildly. "But everyone seemed to enjoy the food I made, so I call it a good morning." She would not be goaded any sooner than she had to be, and no, she was definitely not turning pink. Absolutely not. No way.

Of course she wasn't. Just like Dia wasn't full out grinning now. "Well you're a good cook, so I don't see how we couldn't. Definitely good enough to inspire help cleaning up…"

"Oh, well, yes. That was very sweet of him." Heidi allowed herself to acknowledge that much. "It's always nice to -- to feel appreciated." And that's all there is to it. He appreciated the food.
...Right?

Dia nodded. "Of course it is. I think there was definitely some appreciation going on there. You're not blind, Heidi. And in case you were wondering, neither are any of the rest of us." Her tone was still light and teasing as she sat back in the chair she was occupying.

"All right, Dia," Heidi said, putting aside the book that she wasn't really reading anyway. "Suppose you tell me what it is you've seen and observed, what it is that you know. Let's get this out of your system." She smiled, however; she was, in some strange way, enjoying the teasing.

Dia was enjoying the teasing as well. Funny that. "Just that William seemed pretty eager to help, and that it seemed to be more than just a desire to help out the cook, even with all of his chivalrous tendencies."

Heidi glanced at Sissy, who was striving valiantly to look like she wasn't listening, but the Beta knew better. And she didn't mind, being deeply fond of the younger wolf; she regarded Sissy almost as a little sister. "I was relating the scene to Sissy just before you arrived," she told Dia dryly, and Sissy lifted her head at the mention of her name. "She thinks Will is sweet on me. Is that what you're implying also, Madam Alpha?"

Sissy returned her eyes quickly to her book, despite knowing that it was highly unlikely that she was fooling anyone. To be quite honest, she was not even certain as to which part of the book she was on. She had been paying more attention to Heidi and Dia's conversation than to what exactly was happening in the book.

Dia chuckled and glanced at Sissy as well, who in fact was doing a good job of acting like she wasn't privy to the conversation. But yes, everyone present knew better than that. "Well then, I'm not saying anything new, now am I?" At that she turned her focus back to Heidi. "And that's exactly what I'm implying, Madam Beta." Her smile quirked just the tiniest bit as she said the words.

"And what makes you think that his behavior can't be attributed to the moon?" Heidi challenged. "I mean, has he ever previously given you or your equally observant mate a reason to think he might...feel like that?"

"Call it instinct." A simple enough point, but it was even more applicable considering the group as it were. Not that she or Cole made it a point to observe who was becoming attached to who but they did keep an eye on the pack in general and some things were just hard to miss in the course of that. "By now I'm able to pick up on these things. And I'd think you should be able to do the same. I'm just…pointing it out, really."

Heidi was silent for a moment. "It never dawned on me to look for it directed at myself," she said finally. "I'm over six hundred years old, Dia. I stopped thinking about it around the time of the American Revolution." She looked thoughtful. "It's an interesting concept, but...oh, I don't know. It's not that I object to Will himself," she added hastily. "He's great. I just never thought about it."
