"You say that as if age matters to us." Which, aside from the matter of being set in ones ways after a few lifetimes…yes.
Dia had to admit that was a frame of mind she hadn't had for- centuries, really. Even when they were younger there had always simply seemed to be a connection between she and Cole that drew them to one another. As if they had somehow been destined to be mates. "Well you should start. Who knows, it might even be good for you?"

"It might, at that." For one thing, it would certainly make the full moons more bearable. "I don't know, Dia. I guess we'll just wait and see, eh?"

"Guess we will," Dia replied, sitting back once again with an apparently satisfied nod. Bending one of her arms on the armrest of the chair she leaned her head against her hand, fingers hiding most of the grin plastered onto her face. "Of course, you could always have one of us play matchmaker for you. Don't worry, Heidi, she's kidding. Mostly….

"Erm....no offense, Dia, but....I think I'd just as soon let it happen in its own time. If anything's going to happen, I mean." Heidi was suddenly scarlet. "Let's not, uh, push anything. It might....he might not....appreciate that."
She cast a quick glance at Sissy, who was making a valiant attempt not to look amused -- though she'd evidently abandoned any pretense of not listening.

There was something terribly amusing about seeing Heidi's face go red. She was always so calm and in control, so when a topic came up that made her blush, it was far more interesting that it probably should be. The younger werewolf was literally biting the inside of her mouth to keep herself from grinning, even though Heidi had caught her after she stopped trying to pretend not to listen.

Continued from: Cassidy’s Bedroom.
When the red-haired wolf stepped into the doorway, she blinked at the sight of her favoured pack leader… blushing. She’d been in a world of her own the entire way to the library, and as such, hadn’t caught any snippets of conversation on her approach. What had she missed? Apparently something good was going on, if it could make Heidi go red in the face.
Deciding not to apologise for interrupting — Heidi looked as though she would take any distraction, actually — she stepped into the room properly, and moved for the chair beside Sissy’s, gaze inquiring… but not too curious. It could wait until they were away from the female leaders.

"Hi, Cassidy -- how are you? How was your night? We missed you at breakfast." Heidi leaped at the chance to distract the others from the topic of conversation.

Cassidy didn’t miss the fact that Heidi bombarded her with questions, in order to change the topic. She smirked playfully, but decided to give her good friend a chance to escape… if Dia would simply let it drop… whatever ‘it’ was.
“I’m groggy but fine,” she began, ticking off answers on her fingers as she spoke, “I spent the entire night sleeping, and… I overslept, and missed breakfast.” She scrunched up her nose. “I’ll have to go dig through the cupboards soon, before my stomach eats itself.”

Despite the knowledge that the four gathered would be alerted to his presence by his smell, Marshall slipped silently into the library and immediately turned his attention to the bookshelves, seeking out something that he had not yet read. One of the bad things about having a photographic memory is that it makes re-reading books far too boring. Not to mention pointless.
Normally, he would have put off the visit to the library at least until Dia and Heidi had gone- no matter how often he attempted to convince himself that it was perfectly acceptable for him to be in the same public room as any of the Alphas or Betas, it was still something that he was uncomfortable with, especially when there was more than one of them in the room- but he was wide awake and in desperate need for something to do. Since he was out of new books of his own to read and Sissy had not been in her room- he had been intending to ask if he could go through her rather impressive collection- a trip to the library had become necessary, especially considering that reading really was his only pastime. So, wanting to blend into the background and hoping that he got lucky enough that everyone would ignore him- he could visit with Sissy later- he scanned the shelves rapidly, hoping to spot a new title in the collection that he already knew by heart and make his appearance as short as possible.

Heidi, of course, was certainly not about to ignore anyone -- it wasn't in her nature. "Hello, Marshall," she greeted him gently. He was so uneasy around most everyone but Sissy that she didn't want to draw too much attention to him, but Heidi tried to make him feel welcome.
"Well," she said, still kind of pink, "if we're quite finished with the current topic, I should maybe go get a little nap or something....I didn't sleep so well last night, and tonight will be the hardest of the three. Even for us old-timers," she added, smiling at the two younger females.

Sissy glanced to Marshall and had to bite her tongue to keep from greeting him with the nickname of 'Squeaky.' It was a silly little thing between them and she tried not to use it when they were around others for fear of embarrassing him. Instead, she greeted him with, "'Morning, Marsh."
"Oh but the current topic is so fascinating." She paused. "You're not an old-timer, Heidi. Almost," she continued, teasing lightly, "but not quite yet."

Dia had nodded in acknowledgment as Cassidy entered and began conversing with Heidi, for the moment keeping quite to let the Beta have a brief respite from their teasing.
"Hey, Marshall." Dia briefly diverted her attention from the current conversation to greet the somewhat reluctant newcomer to the room. She'd noticed Marshall seemed to be intimidated and wary around the pack's leaders, and had no intentions of encouraging the state by ignoring the young wolf's presence.
However, she'd been having too much fun to let Heidi out of their previous discussion that easily. "It is pretty interesting, isn't it?" The quip was given as she threw a smile in Sissy's direction. "And I guess the old timer in the room would be me, then." Not that she minded, since age wasn't exactly a point of concern for werewolves, at least no in the negative as far as having more years was concerned.

He returned the greetings softly, glancing over his shoulder at them for the briefest of moments , almost ready to pull a book off the shelf at random and retreat. Still, he remained, returning his eyes to the bookshelves and skimming a bit more quickly. He was finding nothing new amongst the titles he knew so well, but there was always the chance- some small hope- that something had been added that he had not yet found. If not, he would select something quickly, even if it was not something that he was particularly interested in reading, and make a quick escape.

Sissy returned the smile Dia threw at her. Perhaps they were putting Heidi on the spot a bit, but the conversation was far too interesting to just drop. "Nah. Just a little closer to it than Heidi is."

"Yes, well.....like I said, I think I'll get a nap in." Heidi sincerely hoped they were going to let her slip off. "Not that this hasn't been fun."
