It took a whole lot of motivation for Will to break the kiss. He gazed down at Heidi with tender affection and lightly brushed his fingertips along her cheek before he let his hand drop. "Come find me if there are any problems," he told her gently. "I'll just be here."
Tenderly, he pressed a kiss to her forhead. "And try to get some sleep."

Right, that'll happen. "Cold shower, more like," Heidi said teasingly, running a hand through his wayward hair. She didn't know that her doing so earlier had unraveled his self-control, but when she did it this time, his eyes flashed their wolfen yellow.
Oh really now?
She repeated the action. This time he responded with a growl...and not an angry growl. She knew he couldn't help it; his control was probably weaker than hers, since she was the older of the two by several decades. But all the same, she answered his growl with one of her own, followed by another kiss. Even if she could have stopped herself from doing it, she wouldn't have wanted to stop.

Will couldn't help it. He clutched Heidi to him when she kissed him again and completely through caution to the wind. He could still court her, but right now, he knew there was no way he'd be able to let her go. The fighter growled again and took a few unsteady steps, stopping when they hit the wall and breaking the kiss with a low growl. He knew his eyes had changed, and he could feel his hair becoming more feral, but he didn't care, for once.
"Do you know what you do to me?" he rumbled, briefly burying his face in the side of Heidi's neck.

(At this point a judicious warning may be in order. Fade to black will commence before too much longer, but all the same, read at your own risk.)
Heidi was really grateful for the support of the wall behind her, especially when Will's face ended up in her neck. "N-not...exactly," she managed, "b-but....I suspect...you're going....to....let me know." Not bothering to bite back another growl deep in her throat, she raked her fingers through his hair again; then, when his mouth returned to hers, she surprised herself by biting his lip before kissing him.

The impromptu bite garnered a short growl from Will, but it wasn't an angry one. What little control he had left slid away and he pressed eagerly into Heidi's kiss, going so far as to lift her from the floor. He kept his mouth fused to hers until air became a problem, and then he moved to her neck again, nuzzling and kissing at the skin.
So much for old-fashioned courtship...

Heidi groaned, wondering if she might faint. "I th-think the better...question...might be whether...you know...what you do to me," she protested. Her hands were in his hair and somehow her legs had found his waist when he lifted her, and anything remotely resembling self-control was barely even a memory. "Will..."

Some time later...
Will took in a deep, steadying breath and smiled faintly up at Heidi. A tender hand reached up to stroke her cheek and toy idly with a lock of her blonde hair before tucking it behind her ear. The fighter sat up carefully after a moment and pressed a light kiss to his Beta's shoulder.
"I didn't hurt you, did I?" he asked, genuinely concerned.

Heidi smiled, and shook her head. "No....no, you didn't. It's...been a long time." Seeing the flash of bewilderment in his eyes, she added, "I was married, when I was human. That was some six centuries ago. So it's been a long time...but you haven't hurt me." She traced her fingertips over his ear. "I think you may actually have healed something in me."

His hand caught hers and brought it to his lips. Will tried to banish the color that he knew was flushing into his face, but he wasn't sure how well he succeeded as he brushed a kiss to the back of Heidi's hand.
"I have to admit," he told her softly, smiling. "This wasn't exactly how I intended to go about this. I thought that you would have preferred a nice, old-fashioned courtship."

"I'm certainly not opposed to one," Heidi assured him. "I love the idea of such a thing. This...isn't really what I expected to happen either. I've always had a problem with midnight, always -- and lately my wolf's been extremely restless. I don't even know why...she feels almost left out of things, sometimes, which is absolutely silly considering that we're the Beta."
She shifted over to nestle against him a little. "So no, this isn't really what I anticipated at all. But I'd be lying if I said I regret it."

"I could never regret this..."
Well, you might as well spill the beans...
"Heidi..." His voice was quite and rather uncertain, but he pressed on, "I should tell you...I've had feelings for you for a long while now. And I'm fairly certain it's more than a simple crush..."

"You have? I...can't help wondering. How long have I been completely blind?"
The blush that he had been fighting surged into the forefront. "Um...well, you remember the first time Cole brought me to the mansion?"
"Oh, yes." Heidi could actually picture it with surprising ease. "You wore blue, I remember, and everyone thought you were so sweet and well-mannered. You couldn't stop praising the roast duck we had at dinner."
Will laughed. "You remember all that? Well...granted, I do recall that the duck was amazing." He gave his head a shake and continued, "But that's beside the point. Point is...well...if anyone were to ask me, I'd say that the first time I saw you...it was...almost like love at first sight."
Heidi turned very pink. "It...it was?"
"Y-yes. Undeniably." Will felt his face burn fiercely.
"Will...I had no idea." She smiled at him, fairly glowed really. "Why didn't you ever say anything?"
Will was fairly certain that, if Heidi ever asked anything of him while she smiled like that, he'd never be able to deny her. "Well, I wasn't certain if you felt the same," he admitted, sheepish. "I didn't want to risk rejection..."
"Oh, my bonny Scot. Well...I'll confess I don't think I fell in love at first sight, but...as I recall, I did think you were an uncommonly handsome wolf," she told him, eyes twinkling gold. "That's not changed. If you'd come to me and...I don't know, asked me to dinner or however you would start a courtship...I would certainly not have said no."
"That was my original plan...things just went a bit faster than I'd originally intended." He gave her a lopsided smile.
"I still wouldn't say no," she promised, beaming at him. "To be honest, Will, you've...kind of been monopolizing my thoughts all day. After you were so sweet at breakfast, I had a little chat with Dia; I guess the Alphas have suspected this of you for some time now. And my wolf and I decided that it would be entirely agreeable to us if you...well, if you wanted to pursue this. I didn't plan on, er, attacking you," she added with a rueful smile, "but I'm not complaining about the result, either." She traced her fingers along his jawline.

Will’s smile practically stretched from ear-to-ear. "Well...in that case." Once again, he took Heidi's hand and laced his fingers with hers. "Heidi, would you do me the immense honor of accompanying me to dinner after the full moon?"
The wolf in her mind made a content sound of approval, and she beamed at him. "I'd love that."
He kissed the back of her hand briefly, and then leaned in to press a light kiss to her mouth. His own wolf gave what could only really be described as a sigh of relief that he mimicked quietly. Will then leaned into the kiss slightly, keeping Heidi close and stroking a hand tenderly through her hair.
Heidi's own arm went around him immediately, and she sighed. This was easily the happiest she'd been in....well, as far as she could remember, really. She loved the pack, was daily assured of their love for her in return, but this? This was new. And she'd wanted it for a long time, and she was not about to give it up ever again if she could help it.
Will held onto Heidi for as long as she could, atleast until he absolutely had to take a breath. Even then, he kept his arms wound around her and his forehead resting against hers. Atleast until he yawned.
"Ah," he muttered with a sheepish laugh. "Sorry...think you wore me out."
She giggled, pink again. "Well, you were a bit enthusiastic...you should sleep."
He gave a gentle smile. "I will...stay with me?"
"I can't think of anyplace I'd rather be."
Will kissed her again, gently, and lay back to settle against the pillows. He kept his arms loosely set around his Beta's waist, feeling her warm skin on his and letting her soft scent soothe him until sleep crept in and stole him away from the waking world.

Heidi was aware of absolutely nothing until daylight started filtering into the room. Slowly she blinked awake, dimly remembering that it was the last day of the moon and she probably needed to go down and see about breakfast.
This...isn't my room.
She blinked again, and sniffed. Not only was this not her room, but she was not alone in it. Turning her head, she saw Will's sleeping face and bit back a yelp. The events of the previous night suddenly rushed back, and she shifted slightly.
Oh. Oh, that's right. Um...well, this has lots of awkward potential.
As she shifted, Will blinked, and awoke. His eyes grew wide at the sight of her, but then his features relaxed as he, too, remembered what had happened. "Um...morning."
"Morning," she replied. "Um...sleep well?"

I was afraid of this...
Will swallowed thickly, trying to avoid the natural just-woke-up frog that normally settled into his voice. "Yes," he croaked. Damned frog. "I slept fine...you?"
Ohhh, dash it all. This is so awkward.
Hoping to put Heidi at ease a little, he managed a smile and reached a hand out, pushing a loose lock of her blonde hair away from her face. Awkwardness aside, he had to admit that she looked quite lovely, despite having just woken up. Definitely a sight he could get used to...
Stop that...
