Briefly, Cassidy’s gaze had lingered on the cigarettes, but she sternly told herself ‘eat first, smoke later’, and she even went so far as to give her head a little shake to rattle the temptation loose, covering the motion by swaying her hair away from her face at the same time. It didn’t take her long to return her attention to the topic at hand, and a sly smirk returned to her face as Violetta agreed with her sentiment about Kate; really, how hard was it for the gruff fighter to figure out to reverse the process? When hair is dyed unwillingly, it gets dyed back. It was simple enough. Maybe a plant pot had fallen on his head during the fighters’ last excursion, who knew?
“Yes, jello for breakfast is a bad idea,” the redhead concurred as she finally strode away from the mirror and towards the other female, and therefore the door. Breakfast wasn’t going to come to them after all. “Lunch, not so much, and you can have some kind of jelly or jam on toast, but yeah, jello for breakfast is… generally not of the good.” It wasn’t that she’d tried; in fact, she had no desire to.

"Hrm," Violent genuinely mulled over Cassidy's jello input. It was true that it was not the most nutritious breakfast ever but she felt very... jello like at the moment. It was probably a fad, Vi' knew she went through fads here and there. A couple of years ago she had only worn socks that didn't match because she'd suddenly decided that matching socks were bad luck and she didn't want a piano to fall on her head thank you very much (this fad came back with a vengeance frequently). She also still had cereal boexs fixed to her bedroom walls from when she collected them... Then there'd been the time when she'd reversed out of every room she'd been in because it was a custom when there was royalty in the room in a lot of cultures never to show your back to them; there was no royalty in the pack int he truest sense, but such things had never mattered to Violet and it had been fun for a while, the curtsying she could do without though.
Currently she was in the habit of making a big batch of jello in the evening and putting it in a cleaned out, plastic sand castle maker and then leaving it in the refrigerator over night. Her latest 'thing'. "What about if I have it with whipped cream? That's dairy right? Dairy's good. I like milk." she said to Cassidy, expression shifting through mild thoughtfulness and then right back to elation again as she regarded the other female.

“I don’t think whipped cream really falls into the ‘breakfast food’ category either. And you can’t have jello with milk, or anything else dairy, because it would be disgusting.” And there, Cassidy spoke only the truth. The very idea of having jello with anything like milk or cream or, oh god, cheese, almost literally made her stomach do a disapproving roll, and she even wrinkled her nose at the notion. “Ugh.”
Shaking her head, she went on to say, “Why don’t you just have cereal? Or toast. Or waffles. Don’t we have one of those silly waffle irons that puts a smiley face on it or something? Or one that makes Mickey-Mouse-shaped waffles? His head, anyway.” She knew she had seen one of those somewhere, but now, the redhead would be damned if she could remember where, and somewhere beneath that mental conundrum was the realisation that it was such an odd thing to be puzzled about at that particular hour. But then, when one was in the company of Violetta Ginis, thought processes tended to be anything but ‘normal’.

Violet perked up, "Oh my god, we do!?" Her eyes bugged slightly. No one told her that she could have Mickey Mouse's head for breakfast. Maybe several times over. Clearly this was an oversight on the part of... someone within the pack. It was equally as likely that Violet had used the appliance before and had simply forgotten about it altogether. Maybe the reason that she always managed to find enthusiasm for situations and objects was because after a while she forgot about them and then they all seemed new to her again. There was probably a medical name for that sort of thing...
"Mickey Mouse it is. Maybe I'll have the jello for lunch..." For a moment she was extremely thoughtful, eyes rolling up to the ceiling as if she was going to receive some sort of higher power was going to agree with her on that one. Then she turned to Cassidy and said suddenly, "Sorry if I interrupted you before. I was all high after Kate went on the war-path, y'know? Got a bit carried away." Her smile was genuinely sheepish and apologetic, she really hadn't meant to butt in on whatever Cassidy had been doing.

“Jello for lunch is a much better idea,” Cassidy conceded, nodding her head so loose, free curls of red hair spilled around her shoulders and face, brushing softly over her jaw and cheeks, before being shaken back out of the way. She would tie it up if she didn’t more or less hate the restriction, simple though it was; the most she ever did along that vein was clip it if she absolutely had to — like when Keegan went on one of his ‘you need to know self-defence’ kicks — or tuck it behind her ears, not that that ever worked. It had a habit of tumbling free whenever she tried the latter.
At Violet’s apology, Cassidy paused, and then smiled honestly. “Eh, it’s okay. I’ll read what I was writing later and hate it anyway, so I guess you saved me from wasting more time.” Her smile grew, becoming a fraction mischievous, and she glanced only momentarily at the laptop hibernating on her bed before she looked back at the blonde female. “How about we go eat some Disney characters?” That had to have been one of the most random things she had ever said in her life…

POST TIMESKIP
The youthful looking Scottish wolf was on a mission. A very important, very top secret mission. One that had required sneaking, creeping around corners and glaring at walls. Mean, mean, evil walls that had grudges against innocent Rory's. Somehow he had managed to creep past the wall that overly hated him and had finally reached his destination, the all important door looming up in front of him. Cassidy Blake's door. She had gone missing! Had vanished from the face of the earth and nobody had seen her for ages! It was against the law - or at least he was sure it should be against the law for someone as awesome and as awesome as her to vanish from his life and for all he knew something terrible had happened to her. Maybe a bookcase had fallen and she couldn't get back up. Maybe a well had eaten her, or she had drowned in ink!
Rory was pretty sure if anything had actually happened to Cassidy then he would have known about it by now. Or at least the smell would have alerted people that something was up and they needed to go check on her. It didn't matter though, he hadn't seen his 'sister' for far too long and while Rory respected her artistic needs and the fact she had to be alone when she was that inspired - something he respected after a couple of times of a growling Cassidy telling him in no uncertain terms to leave her alone when she was writing. Still, it had been long enough, he had been patient and good and now he really needed to see her.
Hands lifted up to quickly run through his hair, messing up the already untidy locks, falling back instantly over his eyes the moment his hands dropped away. With a bright grin on his face he knocked sharply on the door, a recognizable pattern that was his knock.

A few weeks was perhaps a little too long to shut oneself away, especially under the circumstances. There were others within the pack who had much better cause for solidarity, she knew, but she couldn't deny her urges or own behaviour when they arose. When inspiration struck her, Cassidy needed that isolation, she needed to be by herself in order to get the words down on the page, or the screen as it were. For the last few weeks she had been doing just that, locking her door as a message more than anything else because a simple lock the likes of which the bedroom doors sported would not keep a werewolf out if they got it into their head to go through the barrier and into the space beyond. Cassidy had simple wanted to tell people without going through the motions of a conversation time and time again that she wanted to be left alone, and besides she had been with the pack long enough by now for others to know just what that locked door and vanishing act was all about.
Now, though, the piece of fiction had been written and submitted, posted online under her internet penname for whoever had any interest to see. It was out of her hands now, and she felt satisfied with what she had managed to come up with. Several thousand words and approval from a couple of her closest friends within the pack was good enough for her, and now she felt ready to rejoin the wider world beyond her door. Already she had made a venture or two beyond her bedroom, getting herself reacquainted with The Hyperion and her interior, not that the redheaded she-wolf could ever forget anything about the hotel or what it had to offer. It had been her home for so long now that she knew the details of it, inside and out, were forever engrained on her memory now. It was a comforting thought, one that made her smile briefly as she twined her hair behind her head, regarding her reflection in the mirror of the bathroom.
The distinctive knock made her pause, hair falling from its loose twist, and then she smiled. Rory. With a good-natured roll of her eyes, she crossed over the threshold into the bedroom proper and then made her way directly to the door, tugging it open easily to be rewarded with the sight of her baby brother -- figuratively speaking -- standing on the other side with one of his usual grins. "What, no offerings?" she teased with a smile on her face as she leaned against the doorframe, regarding him fondly.

As far as Rory was concerned, a few days, even a few hours was too long for Cassidy to hide herself away from him and the rest of the family within a family they had created in the pack. He could understand why though, could understand that need a little, if not really ever able to understand the exact details. Something inside of Cassidy needed to be alone in order to write and she had to write in order to be truly happy – that at least was a simple bit of math that Rory could do in his head. Cass always came back out after a while, once the story or whatever she was written had burnt itself out and although he missed his ‘sibling’ terribly when she did retreat into worlds of her own making, at least she came back and Rory got to show her how he had missed her.
Grin grew as the door finally opened, revealing Cassidy standing there, in a good mood and that alone told him that he had judged this correctly, knew when to invade as it were, when it was safe to do so. Others within the pack had reported seeing the red head, a few sightings and glimpses that had given him hope that she was ready to play again. Her words though, her words hurt, hands clutching at his chest for a moment as if wounded, before giving a soft little gasp, arms spreading out wide as he pouted at her. “Aren’t I an offering enough? What more could you possibly want or need aside from me?” Then again, she was scary when she was in a bad mood, perhaps he should have brought an offering in the hope of taming the beast.

When Cassidy chose to write, really immersed herself in the process, it was like the world beyond her bedroom didn't really exist, not the same way it did at any other time. If there was a problem, if something bad happened or someone needed her then she could prioritise like anyone else, she could drop her personal activities and be there for those she cared about, she could be a pack wolf with the rest of them, but otherwise she lost herself to her own little world and anyone who tried to get her out of it had a hell of a job on their hands. Thankfully, save for her once-a-year spell in November when her target was much larger than normal, she only ever wrote short stories which took up a week or two at the most. She was rarely gone for too long and people always knew where to find her if they really needed her. Cassidy could never truly pull away from the pack and especially not those she had come to call family.
If anyone was going to be able to time it well, it was one of her surrogate siblings within the pack. Well, them and Cole, because the Alpha male had an uncanny ability to know just when and where to show up. She laughed a little at his words, that unwavering optimism and endearing lightness that was pure Rory. "Well, I can't eat you, Rory. I shouldn't, anyway, because for one that would probably make me sick to my stomach -- no offence -- and for another, that's cannibalism." She offered him something rare then in the form of a wink, something that was more Irina than it was Cassidy, just something small she had picked up from the older female, and her smile grew wider. "Come on, get your butt in here and tell me what I've been missing in the outside world." The redheaded female accompanied the words with a jerk of her head to gesture to the bedroom itself before she rocked herself back inside, glancing back expectantly, just waiting for him to follow her.

He did his best to understand the needs of others and make sure that he didn't do anything that went against them if he could help it. While he might not entirely understand Cassidy's need to lock herself away from them all he knew that it was important to her and made her happy so he accepted it. He always missed her when she shut herself away, just like he would miss any of their little family if he didn't get to see them for an extended period of time. It just meant that when she finally emerged from her room he had to make up for her absence and spend as much time as possible with his sister. He supposed that in the end it was a win-win situation because he got to spend more time with those he called family, he just had to be patient and allow others to do what they needed to do before monopolising their time.
He always worried that he was going to time it wrong and not be welcomed with open arms so to speak, this hadn't been one of those times though, he had gotten it right. His smile grew at the sound of his sister's laugh, hearing others laugh was a true gift to him and one that he always treasured. Her words made his face drop a little though, he should have thought to bring food with him it made sense that she would be hungry after being shut away in her room for so long, the mention of eating him making him pale slightly for a second. "I can go and get food if you want. It won't take me long to run down to the kitchen," he began until he noticed the wink she gave him telling him she was just pulling his leg. His smile sprang back in to place again as she motioned for him to enter. "You've missed loads," he started to say as he walked through the door and in to her room. "Actually now that I think about it I don't think you've missed anything or maybe you have, I'm not sure." His own words confused him a bit and left a rather puzzled look on his face as he tried to decide if Cassidy had actually missed anything.

Cassidy would never complain about more time spent with those she cut herself off from in her self-induced exile, those she considered her siblings, like Rory, Sissy, and Molly, and of course Keegan. Then there were her good friends, those like Landon and Violet and Lily, Meghan and Rosie, and even others such as Jeremy and Brody. There was no forgetting Devon, of course, but he was in a category all of his own, and Cassidy still wasn't sure where exactly she stood with him, or he with her. Some days she wanted to choke the life out of him, and others she could find herself practically sprawled on top of him on one of the couches in the TV lounge. At least with those like Rory she knew exactly what their relationship was, and there was no awkwardness or complication.
Food could wait until later, and it wasn't as though Cassidy had been starving herself in the time she had spent writing. She simply hadn't been taking the time to eat full meals with others, instead grabbing whatever was closest at hand or most convenient and quickest, so that she wouldn't spent too much time away from her laptop. Cassidy closed the door behind Rory, watching him as he made his way across the room, her smile coming easily and naturally and staying on her face. Rory had that effect on people, and it was one of the things she loved about him most. "I've missed loads but I haven't missed anything?" Her eyes narrowed and she stepped closer to her adopted brother with a puzzled look on her face, no matter how feigned. "So which is it?" She could see he had confused himself, and it was a struggle not to laugh.

Rory would of course be overjoyed to learn that Cassidy wouldn't complain about spending more time with them after her time apart from them, he always worried that he was imposing and wasn't welcome, it was only when those he was visiting gave him a smile or a hug that he stopped worrying and sometimes even then that worry lingered. He was always happy to get to spend time with anyone within the pack, though those that he considered family were always the most welcome to keep him company but he wouldn't say no to any of the others if they decided they wanted to spend some time in his presence. Rory preferred the relationships he had with his siblings, he knew exactly what they were to one another and there was never any weirdness or anything else that he had sometimes seen between certain members of the pack, he would never understand those interactions he witnessed, at least that was how he felt.
He knew that Cassidy wouldn't actually have been starving herself but he still should have thought to bring some food along with him, he would have to remember to do that next time. Just because he hadn't seen Cassidy at meal times didn't mean that she hadn't eaten it just meant that she had avoided any distractions from her activities that required her being locked away from them all but he wondered if she'd been getting enough to eat, surely she didn't have that much food in her room. He saw her smile and returned it with enthusiasm. He really did love seeing those he cared about smiling because it let him know that all was right with the world. "Well you have missed loads I'm sure but it seems that I might have missed it all too," he told her with confused look upon his face that showed no signs of leaving anytime soon. "How could you not have missed loads when you've been shut in here for so long? I mean you must have, right? It just makes sense." He was beginning to ramble in an attempt to straighten everything out in his own head, his brow furrowing as he thought back on things trying to remember what his sister had missed so he could fill her in.

Those she had come to see as family, as sisters and brothers respectively, could always count on her to be there whenever they might have need of her, whether it be for something important or something trivial. It didn't matter, not to Cassidy. Rory, for one, could always bumble his way into her room and she would never lose her patience with him for it, not even for a moment. Even the way he chattered about anything and everything, sometimes with no signs of stopping, did nothing but endear him to her further, if such a thing were even possible. So no, she would never complain about spending more time with him, even if it meant doing something she wouldn't normally do; Rory had a vivid imagination and often times the drives and desires of a child, and more than once Cassidy had found herself playing board games or partaking in something else equally as youthful at its very core.
She couldn't help but laugh a little at that logic, and she nodded her head, as though conceding to some great point he had made, which was more or less the case. "That does make sense," she said, plopping herself down on the edge of her bed and scooting back onto the mattress, but not before patting it enthusiastically to encourage him to join her. Food could wait. "So tell me about the things you haven't missed," she said to him, settling herself comfortably up by the pillows. "What have you been up to?" Rory was always doing one thing or another, even if only in his own mind. Cassidy wanted to know all about it, even if it might have come across like a load of nonsense to most people. She wasn't most people, at least not when it came to Rory.

There was never any doubt in his mind that those he called family would be there for him whenever he might need them, sometimes it seemed that they knew when he needed them before he knew himself. He found it almost strange when that happened but he wasn't going to try and figure out how they knew because he had a feeling that would confuse him if he did attempt to work it out. Rory couldn't actually remember the last time that someone lost their patience with him, that didn't mean he didn't worry about annoying them though, it was just who he was. He knew he had a habit of talking about anything and everything that popped in to his head and he was sure that some probably found that a little irritating but if they did they seemed to keep those feelings to themselves. He didn't only talk though, he loved to come up with things for himself and others to do and he really didn't care if they might be considered childish and really as long as the activity was enjoyed by all did it really matter how old those taking part were. Rory certainly didn't think it mattered.
The sound of Cassidy's little laugh made his smile grow and he couldn't help but nod his head in reply to her, at least he hadn't confused her with his rambling. "Good, I'm glad you agree," he said as he stood in the middle of the room as Cassidy seated herself on her bed. When she patted the mattress next to her to invite him to join her he took a couple of steps and almost bounced on to the bed. "Things I haven't missed," he mused cocking his head to one side as if that would help him remember the things that he'd witnessed recently that his sister hadn't been present for. "I played Scrabble or rather I tried, I kept getting all the bad letters that you can't really make any words from," he told her with a look of sadness on his face. "Oh, there was a food fight in the kitchen, it was a lot of fun but I don't know who won." His smile back in place as he tried to remember everything else he had been up to. "I'm sure there is more but I just can't seem to remember it all. It's almost like it all fell out of my head or something." It was so hard trying to remember every little thing he had been doing, maybe he should start writing everything down so that when he wanted to share things with others he could actually refer to it and make sure he wasn't missing anything out. He'd really hate to forget something important that might need to be shared.

That was how family worked. So often they knew you better than you knew yourself, and they could read all the little changes in your body language, all the little shifts in your expression, that told them you needed them. It never quite went away though, that surprise when one of them responded to those little indicators you didn't know you were displaying, and Cassidy was no exception. She could be there for Rory in a heartbeat after seeing the slightest slouch in his shoulders or distant quality to his eyes, just as Keegan could be there for her in an instant after taking one look at her and the way she might let her hair fall across her face, or the way she might chew on her thumbnail. Family knew how to read the signs, even if you didn't realise you were sending those signals, and personally Cassidy didn't know what she would do sometimes if it wasn't for that little silent and invisible beacon that brought those with whom she was closest to her side in times of need, even if she hadn't realised before their appearance that she needed anyone at all.
Rory's rambling was a little bewildering at first, but if you spent enough time in his presence then you learned how to pick out the important parts, how to listen to what he was really saying. Cassidy had learned how to do that some time ago, along with Sissy, Molly, Keegan, and Lily, those others with whom Rory spent most of his time. She couldn't help but smile and laugh again when Rory showed his youthfulness in practically bounding onto the bed that way. Sometimes she envied him for that, the childishness he displayed so effortlessly. "Did you take part in the food fight?" she asked him, resting back against her headboard and settling her gaze on him with a loose smile remaining on her face. "It didn't get broken up this time did it?" She remembered the last food fight in the Hyperion's kitchen, and how it had been disrupted, seemingly before its time.
