"Ah, leaving me alone with Marvin, huh?" she teased, nodding in the direction of the television. "Okay. I put the spaghetti in the plastic take-home dishes if you want to take some with you." Sarah yawned a little, and got more comfortable on the couch. "Maybe I'll just crash right here. The bedroom's soooo far away."

“Marvin’s tired. He works so hard being depressed, he’s gone to bed too.” He pointed at the blank screen and smirked, a little lazily. He sat forward a little on the arm of the sofa so he would have to move before too long; it wasn’t that the padding was uncomfortable, but even if he started to doze off, he’d end up moving himself anyway… though falling off the chair was in no way appealing.
“And hey,” he said to her, actually rising after a minute. “It’s your apartment. If you wanted to, you could sleep in the bath.” He chuckled. “I’m not about to tell you what to do, am I?”

Sarah pointed a finger at him lazily. "That's a very good point. Smart of you to remember it." She yawned again. "I think you're gonna have to be my alarm clock, at this rate."
Curling onto her side, she snuggled down into the cushions. "Call me before our shift, will you please, shepherd-my-love? I'll make the coffee like I promised. Good stuff."

Chris chuckled good-naturedly, and nodded, gathering the things he’d dropped around the apartment, and making sure he had his keys, and the other essentials. “Will do,” he promised, and paused near the door. “Night,” he called to her, before taking the handle and twisting it, letting himself out, closing the door quietly behind himself as he went, waiting until he was sure it had clicked shut properly. He always made sure it locked behind him, at least in the simpler sense, before he walked away.
Allowing himself his yawn now that he was outside, he shifted his grip on his jacket, and headed for the elevator. Tomorrow was going to be a long day, and if he was going to have any hope of getting through it, he needed sleep. Badly.

Sarah groaned as her phone started beeping. "Go 'way....why don't these things come with snooze alarms?" she muttered, fumbling for the little silver doodad. Opening it, she read the text message from Chris with bleary eyes, and snorted.
I'm rising, but I refuse to shine, she texted back.
In unconscious mimicry of her taller partner, she heaved herself off of the sofa and stumbled toward the bedroom and, from there, into the bathroom. Shower...water would rouse her. Then coffee -- she'd promised him good stuff.

A clean, coiffed and dressed Sarah emerged from the bedroom half an hour later, and went through the morning motions. Put on badge. Check sidearm. Put phone and other personal items in shoulder bag. As promised, she filled a large thermos with French vanilla coffee, then picked up her bag and keys, checked that she had sunglasses, and headed off to Parker Center.
