Gareth did indeed follow, sliding a protective arm around his mate's waist as they made their way out from their basement dwelling. As soon as they were out in the open and in sight of th moon, he felt the eager pull of his wolf and it was tempting - oh so tempting - to let the creature run free.
But Gareth was patient. He could wait. It would make the hunt that much more enjoyable if he held back until absolutely necessary...

Standing in nothing but a shirt that was not hers, she watched hot steam pour upward into the air around her, seeping from the edge of the large mug. The strong tea had been brewed for several minutes, and Alswytha found herself transfixed by the small ripples left behind by the stirring action of the little steel spoon that had been dropped in the sink.
The hunt last night had gone well… too well, almost. Alswytha had yearned for the kill, but the couple had made it back to civilisation after she and Gareth had scared them, and that had left her feeling almost… cheated.
Giving a quiet growl, she huffed quietly. Humans… such a waste of space…

Gareth watched his mate from the bed, currently too comfortable to bother with getting up or dressing. He could sense her irritation without having to see her face, and he sympathized. The hunt last night had been disappointing, to say the least. Even if they hadn't made a killing, they could have possibly added to their ranks; begun building there pack. The old Alpha gave a quiet rumble of a noise and sat up, leaning casually against the headboard.
"We can go out again tonight. If we don't find anyone worthy of joining us, we'll go purely for the kill."

Alswytha was glad they hadn’t turned the ‘lovers’. It would have been a waste of good blood on hers and Gareth’s part, in sharing it with two snivelling, skittish children. But the lack of kill had irked her; gotten under her skin and made her want to bend the spoon right out of shape, until it snapped in half in her powerful hands. They were getting nowhere, and fast, and all the while, Stanton and his bitch ruled their territory…
Ugh!
The female wolf felt her eyes flash, and the colour was still fading as she replied to Gareth, “It would make a nice change… a perfect way to end the moon cycle this month.” She hoped she at least sounded a little enthusiastic. She so hated to sound… flat…

"Alswytha..."
He didn't take much time at all to move to her; the grace of the wolf made his movements quick and easy. Careful hands were set on Alswytha's hips, oddly tender; she was the only one who would ever see this side of him. He wasn't happy unless she was.
"Just think on it, lover," he murmured down her ear. "We haven't spilt fresh blood in ages...I know how you enjoy it."

The feel of her mate’s hands on her hips made her sigh, and the snarling animal inside of her quieted to simple, dissatisfied growls; taming. But she still felt tense… cheated. Her eyes stared down at the tea for a few more seconds, and then she ignored it, as if she were snubbing the brewed beverage. Her head rolled down and she rocked, leaning back into him to try and reassure herself that everything hadn’t been a total failure so far.
“I’m just tired,” she told him, her voice low, almost as if she worried about someone overhearing her and judging her tone as weak, making her want to snarl again. “I want a real hunt, Gareth… the racing hearts, the blood pumping… adrenaline and fear and sweat…” She wet her lips, eyes slipping closed. “I want the kill…”

His mate's irritation was his own; in the back of his mind, the wolf turned over and snarled, a sound that Gareth mimicked against the side of Alswytha's neck. "You will have your kill," he promised in a low growl of a voice. "I'll find you the perfect prey, my love, I will. Anyone you want, tonight; just point them out and they're yours."
The devotion he showed to Alswytha could be construed as a weakness, but woe betide the poor bastard who said that to Gareth's face. He would kill for her, die for her, but that didn't make him weak. If anything, his absolute devotion made him stronger and more determined.

The sound she made was more like the purr of a large cat than anything contented from a wolf, and she took her bottom lip between her teeth as Gareth growled against the side of her neck. For all the flaws in her old mate, he had his undeniable strengths and pros… his devotion to her being one of them. She knew she held him in the palm of her hand; he would do anything for her.
But at the same time, a large part of her worked that way in return, and she somewhat resented that. But now, as he assured her she would have her kill, and it would be bloody and wonderful, she couldn’t think about such matters. They could wait…
“Mm… you always know what I like,” she whispered with a sigh, resting her head to the side, wrapping her arms over the opposite sides of her waist to find his hands at her hips, sliding over them as her smile became pleased and slightly wicked.

Gareth laughed, the sound low and growling as was per usual. "Yes...I do," he murmured against Alswytha's skin and kissed her neck in a light, affectionate fashion. "Anything you want, my dear...just ask."
This softer, saner, and almost playful side to the old Alpha was one that only his mate could bring out in him. She was the line that kept him connected to what remained of his sanity, and the only one who, in his opinion, deserved his complete respect. His teeth grazed her shoulder for a moment, and then Gareth lifted his head to kiss her temple gently.
"I love you..."

She knew she held a powerful creature in the palm of her hand, able to command him to do just about anything, and all because he was blindly devoted to her. It made Alswytha feel powerful, and untouchable in her own way, not relating to her own strength and lycanthropic prowess, and as he kissed her neck, she smiled darkly to herself. Oh, the things she could accomplish…
The female wolf murmured in acknowledgement and return to his affectionate statement, and she turned her head to allow him to kiss her on the lips, his arms still around her waist from behind, her hands still covering his.

He managed to loose one of his hands from her grip and brought it up to brush across the smooth skin of her cheek and jaw. His other arm wrapped itself around Alswytha's lithe form, keeping her back pressed into his chest He held her like that even after the kiss had broken, when he leaned in to kiss her temple and her cheek.
"How would you like it if we got a little...reckless tonight?" he suggested, voice low and easy against her smooth skin. "Go a bit further into the city, maybe even lure a few morons from that club; see if we can make Stanton sweat a little."

The wolf in Alswytha stirred once again, growling merrily and eagerly at the very idea of getting Stanton’s hackles raised. Her eyes glowed vividly for a moment, her tongue running over her bottom lip and she released a breathy sigh of anticipation. “Oh, that would be wonderful…” she murmured darkly, already conjuring images and ideas of what they could do.
The only problem with the plan was that she and Gareth wouldn’t be able to see the look on that stupid pup’s face when he realised a pair of wolves had unleashed carnage in his territory, endangering the pack that never should have been his in the first place…

"Then it's settled..."
He wanted to be as blatant as possible. If Stanton knew that there was a risk of exposing his precious pack, the pack that was not rightfully his, he would be so deliciously anxious. For all his bravado and attitude, he could be brought down, especially if the pack was in danger. Stanton's devotion would be his downfall.
"We could let him see us," he suggested. He knew Alswytha would want to see the pup's reaction; his fear. "Just for a moment...he'll just think that his mind is playing tricks."

“Oh…” Her smile grew, and her fangs showed themselves in the suitably wolfish expression as her eyes waned and flickered again. Just imagining the look on the pup’s face was almost good enough in and of itself, but if she and Gareth could actually see it for themselves. “Oh… that would be wonderful…” She wet her lips, as if she could taste the younger wolf’s anxiety, and laughed to herself in a manner that would have been soft had it come from anyone but her.
“Do you think he’s likely to show himself during the moon?” she asked of her mate, angling her head to look to his face in profile. “He was always so… timid about that.” Alswytha made a derisive huff of a noise. Stupid little child…

Gareth gave a low rumble of a noise, somewhere between a growl and an irritated groan. "Ah, yes...his paranoia," he sneered. "That may be difficult to get around...but I think we can manage."
With a lazy sort of smirk, he spun Alswytha around in his embrace so he could face her, careful of her still-steaming tea. One hand remained at her hip while the other rose to comb through her rich, auburn locks as he murmured, "We'll just have to cause some serious trouble. Something that will force the pup out from hiding. Really get our hands dirty."
