Stanton had always secretly sickened her with his fear of the moon; he would always ‘suggest’ they keep a low profile during what Alswytha had always considered their time… a time when wolves should truly run free, and embrace their animal sides, release them from within and just be what nature had intended. But the little brat had always said it would draw too much attention to their kind; endanger them…
They would show him the true meaning of ‘drawing attention’.
“Hmm… now that sounds like an offer I just can’t refuse,” she murmured to Gareth, locking her eyes with his.

"I thought you'd enjoy that," Gareth retorted with a faint smirk. "You'll see, love. We'll go in and find what we need, no trouble. It's a fairly large, lively club; there are bound to be plenty of drunk, oblivious humans. Really, with that kind of stupidty ambling about, we'd be doing them a favor."
His smirk widened, briefly, almost becoming somewhat of an amused grin. "Stanton will have to do some serious damage control when we're done." He peered down at his mate for a moment, cocking his head. "Wonder if he'll actually be able to pull it off..."

“Hmm…” The sound wasn’t so much thoughtful as it was quietly amused, and she took her bottom lip between her teeth, biting it as she pondered the chaos they could unleash, right under the child’s nose. She would love to be able to stand beside him and mock him for being so ignorant about his own territory; he had gotten arrogant, holed up in that hotel of his, surrounded by incompetent fighters and snivelling children of pack members. She and Gareth would show them what a true pack was like.
“You’re talking about Stanton,” she reminded him, as if he might have forgotten. “He wouldn’t know what to do in a real crisis…” She nuzzled slowly at Gareth’s jaw as she continued, “He never did. All he’s ever had is pure, dumb luck…”

Gareth gave a noncommital sort of rumble and wrapped his arms completely around his mate's slender frame, keeping her warm body close into his. "Well, let's see if we can't change his luck, then, hmm?" he murmured, glancing down at her. "Make him squirm."
One of his hands lifted from the small of her back in favor of cupping her cheek lightly. As his thumb traced easy patterns, the old wolf spoke in a low voice, "We will take back what was rightfully ours. I promise, Alswytha."

“I like the sound of that…” She nipped meaningfully at his jaw with a low growl that never quite left her chest, her expression subtly wicked as she lifted her gaze into his. She actually loved the idea of putting Stanton in his place… making him sweat and regret what he had done to them… how he had stripped them of what had always been truly theirs. Truly hers…
“Yes we will,” she muttered confidently, eyes closing at the simple thought of taking back the power she had sorely lacked for so long. It felt like something had been cut away from inside of her, and nothing else had been able to fill that void. She needed to fill it again…

The old wolf let his own growl rumble free as he bowed his head, catching Alswytha's lips in a brief, fierce kiss. He knew how she felt without the pack; he felt it, too. They deserved to lead, to be backed by strong wolves who knew their place within a pack. Wolves who wouldn't dare question or challenge them. His mate deserved better than a rogue's life...
"Just you wait," he told her with a lazy, wolfish grin. His strong hands combed back through the female's hair, gently baring her throat to him so he could nestle his face in the soft skin there. "We could run this whole damned town if we wanted to."

The wolf inside of her rumbled appreciatively at the words, and the affections, and deep in the back of her mind, she growled at herself. She doubted, and yet she did not… she reconsidered time and time again and felt weak for it. Damn it all, this wasn’t about wants, it was about needs. It was about power…
It wasn’t about choices, either.
“We will, Gareth,” she ‘reminded’ him, meeting his gaze meaningfully. Alswytha didn’t just set herself goals; she reached for the top, and wouldn’t let anyone dissuade her. She didn’t know any other way to aim but for the very pinnacle.

Gareth stared down at her while his wolf's eyes shone through, eager and bright. "Of course, my dear," he corrected himself. His hands dropped to Alswytha's waist while he rested his forehead lightly against hers. "I know how much you want to lead again."
As he kissed her lightly, letting his hands wander over her clothed sides, he continued speaking, almost musing aloud, "We'll take Stanton down; it will be easy. After he's gone, it won't be hard to expand the pack." He sneered. "There are so many rogues running about, doing as they please. We'll take them in, then see what we can find in terms of humans to sire..."

Alswytha’s eyes closed, as if the words Gareth spoke were like a drug to her, seeping into her and churning through her veins, intoxicating and making her heart trip and beat faster inside of her chest. She even groaned quietly, leaning into her mate. “You can have Stanton,” she murmured to him, more of a growl than anything else. “I want the bitch he calls a mate…” Her smile was utterly wicked, showing fangs and parting her lips for a growl to trickle free.
Leading was in her blood; it wasn’t just her place, it was her birthright, and she wouldn’t allow it to be kept from her any longer. Not so long as she still breathed and walked the earth. It was who she was, and she had been without that key part of her life for too long already.

"Whatever you want, Alswytha," he smirked down at her, kissed her again, and pulled her against his chest. "I'll let you take down every little tramp in the pack, if you want. Every wolf you deem unfit to run with us, you can put down. Put them out of there misery."
He was eager to see it happen, really. His mate was passionate during the kill; wild and completely untouchable. It was a beautiful sight that never failed to send his wolf into a cacophony of proud snarling and howling. Even now his wolf bayed, however quietly, as he peered down at his wild mate again.
"Would you like that, love?"

“Mmm… very much…”
Alswytha nuzzled under Gareth’s jaw again, nipping at his neck. She felt much more alive than she had while stirring her now-cooling tea; that was one thing she supposed she couldn’t fault her mate for. He always knew just which buttons to press to bring her back to herself, and that, she knew, would be hard to replicate. But she could think on that later… now… now she was determined to have herself a little fun.
There wasn’t much else to do during the day, after all. Their time was during the night, when the moon was high and calling to them.

Gareth growled, happy to let his mate do as she pleased, as usual. The hands at her waist slipped under the shirt she wore -- his shirt, he noted with a smirk -- to play over the soft skin of her sides and stomach. "Well, I was going to offer to get you breakfast," he rumbled against her. "But if you're not hungry..."
Of course, he didn't mind. Alswytha could always get whatever she wanted from him, whether it be something as expansive as their 'plan' or a moment like this. Gareth could never deny his mate...

“I never said that…” she practically purred down his ear, nipping at it with a growl afterwards. And then she hopped up. Gareth’s strong hands caught under her thighs to support her as her legs wrapped around his waist, and she kissed him deeply, a snarl rumbling in the pit of her chest.
Perhaps she was hungry, but right at that moment, so was her wolf, and not for anything related to food. She wasn’t about to deny herself the simple pleasures in life, especially not when Gareth was so eager to please her. She would never deny him that… not when it benefited her…

The wolf flopped down somewhere in the back of his mind, feeling wonderfully exhausted and generally satiated; Gareth shared the creature sentiments exactly. With a lazy sort of smirk, he reached up to stroke Alswytha's rich tresses away from her face; his mate was nothing if not...enthusiastic.
"Are you going to let me up today?" he queried in a tone that was as close to teasing as he ever came. "Or shall we just languish here again?"

“Hmm… not just yet.” She rested her chin lightly on his chest, her eyes studying his noble face and dark eyes. She smiled softly, almost secretly, the fingers of one hand tracing little patterns that only she knew against his side.
Her gaze lowered to watch her motions, the tips of her fingers creating little circles and lines. Taking her bottom lip between her teeth as if the activity was taking all of her concentration, she hummed to herself idly, letting the promise of a true hunt later that day, when the moon rose for its final night of glory, wash over her mind again and set a kind of fire deep in her chest.
Alswytha had to be patient.
