It was so rare for Gareth to laugh, no matter how rough a sound it really was, that it almost took Alswytha by surprise as it rumbled from him, before she smiled at him, raking her fingers through his hair while he had his head dipped to the crook in her shoulder. She took pride in knowing that only she could get such a sound from her old mate; in knowing that she was the reason behind half of what he did, if not more.
“Hmm…” She considered her mate as he stood beside the bed, before she reached out to take his hand, sliding gracefully from the bed, her somewhat tousled hair hanging in an unruly mane around her face and shoulders. “I will hold you to that, you realise…”

"Oh, I'm counting on it, my dear," he rumbled, bowing his head to kiss her briefly. "In fact, I'd be disappointed if you didn't."
His eyes flashed their wolfen hue as he stepped away to find a loose pair of jeans to pull on. They were comfortable, well-worn, and they would do for just wandering betweent he kitchen and the bedroom. He yawned briefly, wide and contented as he made his way to the kitchen and called over his shoulder, "So, what will it be this morning?"

As Gareth padded out of the room, she smiled, and then stretched, her arms reaching up high over her head, fingers knotting and straining up until she felt the satisfying pop in her shoulders and neck. With a sigh, she yawned as well, and then voiced her slightly cheeky response to her mate, “Surprise me…”
She went about the room, picking out this and that to wear; a shirt, some pants, underwear… she seemed to take her time with her choices, even though she would much rather eat and shower before she truly dressed herself. Everything she chose was folded neatly and laid on the foot of the bed, ready for when she needed it. For the time being, she pulled on a t-shirt in order to follow Gareth from the bedroom.

Gareth smiled, a faint upturning of the mouth, and went about finding something to 'surprise' his mate with. Fortunately, they had stocked up rather well, so there was a good deal to choose from. Before long, the old Alpha had two steaks cooking away, plenty of eggs, sausage, and coffee set in the percolater. He watched his mate from the corner of his eye, admiring her lazy grace for a moment before he spoke.
"Another cup of tea, love?"

She came up behind him, leaning her cheek against the strong stretch between his shoulders, breathing in his musky, unique scent. “Mmm… please.” Her hands snaked over his hips and around his waist, before she leaned up and kissed the back of his neck. Releasing him slowly, a little teasingly, she moved around him, ensuring she kept the proximity. Her animal was awake and passionate inside of her, making her movements almost flirtatious without them needing to be. Gareth was already hers; she had no need to entice him the way she did… but that didn’t make it any less entertaining.
Turning the small of her back against the counter, she reached up to gently toy with the pendant that hung around her neck, granting Gareth with a rarely-seen tender smile as she watched him.

She received a low, 'warning' growl in return, but Gareth still found his mouth curving up towards a smile. The old wolf abandoned the main breakfast for a few moments to pour his mate a fresh cup of tea, setting it in front of her while he pressed his face against her neck and nibbled at the smooth flesh their. Gareth knew she liked to tease, but she wasn't the only one. It certainly made things more interesting.
"I love you," he he rumbled, grinning a bit.

Giving a content sigh, leaning her head to the side and back a little to give Gareth better access to her neck, she smiled at the sound of his words. They went without saying; she already knew them, and had heard them thousands of times before, but it never failed to fill her with confidence. She knew it was true, and could take strength from it, no matter how small a victory.
“I love you,” she returned, lifting a hand to stroke her fingers deeply through the hair at the back of his head, the wolf in her giving a purr of a growl in reaction to the proximity; the way Gareth’s body brushed against hers.

And Gareth pressed closer, letting a low snarl rattle from him. Hearing Alswytha express her feelings toward him was something that always gave him strength. Not that he needed to be reassured, of course. With all the time they had been together, it hardly needed to be said every moment of every day, but it was something that he enjoyed hearing. It filled him with pride.
His teeth grazed her warm skin before he kissed her lightly on the mouth, holding the contact and nearly purring in delight from the taste of her. Gareth wanted his pack back. But when it was just the two of them...well, it was nice.

Alswytha released a low, slow sigh, craning her head back, eyes closing. The smile that slipped onto her face was subtly triumphant, as if this were a battle she had won over her mate, when in reality, it was a victory for the both of them; this forward motion of their plan to reform their pack, from strays and newcomers to the lycanthrope race; those of their own creation.
As Gareth kissed her, she gripped him, one hand stroking up through his hair to hold at the back of his head, her other grasping at his shoulder, feeling the power in his frame and tasting him, and letting it rile and invigorate her wolf. She enjoyed the feel of it as it rolled and stretched inside of her, practically howling in enjoyment of the proximity and touch of her mate.

The grip on his hair pulled a growl from him, and even as he kept his lips pressed to hers, he had to hide a grin. She was excitable on occasion, his mate, and the fact that he was the only one who could rile her as he did was a source of great pride for the old Alpha. He had every right to be cocky when it came to Alswytha.
"Now love," he murmured when they'd seperated. "You'll have to release me if you don't want your breakfast burnt."

Many things could excite Alswytha in a variety of ways, but she did have to give Gareth credit where it was due; he was, thus far, the only one who could rile her this way. She admitted that to herself, even as she looked to his face, eyes narrowed with something of a devious smirk on her face. “Hmm… that sounds like a choice,” she murmured, practically purring.
After kissing him once again, she slid her hands from their holds, and smiled at him fully. “But I suppose we do have to eat.” She said as much with a sigh, as if it were a terrible burden, when really, her stomach was growling and her appetite was taking a serious leap from gnawing to full on ferocious.

His brief laugh rumbled lowly through his chest, and Gareth kissed his mate on the top of her head before returning to the stove. The edges of the eggs were a little brown, but neither of them were very picky first thing in the morning; Gareth, for his part, was pretty damn hungry.
"Enjoy, love," he said to Alswytha when he set her plate before her. His own plate was placed at the spot next to her, but the old wolf didn't sit down right away, opting instead to fix himself a mug of tea and put a few slices of bread in the toaster. Even with the concrete and other building materials around them, he could hear the noise of the city, cars and people and sirens, oddly soothing in their cacophony. Though he prefered the forest and its splendour, he couldn't deny the pull of the city.

Seating herself at their two-person table — they didn’t have much in the way of comfort or furniture, after all; they were old enough to be ‘above’ such things — she inhaled the scent of the meal her mate had prepared, feeling the snarl her stomach emitted at the taunt of her senses.
Taking her fork, she proceeded to break the yolk of her egg. She knew Gareth was making toast, and she did love to soak the bread in the egg before eating it. It seemed like such a simple thing, but Alswytha could be very particular, even with something so simple as how she ate her breakfast. When it came to things like death and destruction, she wasn’t so picky; any means of disposal was good enough for her, so long as it was rife in suffering and bloodshed.

Gareth smiled, watching his mate out of the corner of his eye. He knew of all her habits, small as some of them were. It was one of the things a person picked up after being with someone for centuries. They both had their quirks and their tells; they knew each other inside and out.
With the last bits of their breakfast prepared, the old wolf finally sat himself down to eat. He felt his stomach roll and grumble at the scents that wafted up from his plate, and after handing over a few slices of toast to Alswytha, he went after his meal with controlled enthusiasum. After their 'activities' he most certainly needed to refuel, especially if his mate wasn't finished for the morning...

Accepting some of the toast with one of her most ghost-like smiles, a subtle hint of an expression that only those of Gareth’s level of intimacy and experience could read, she proceeded to break off the crust. She contented herself for a while with eating, occasionally pausing to sip her tea, made just to her liking as was to be expected. Gareth knew her well; some would say too well, but for the old she-wolf, experience and knowledge were both assets — they inevitably, in most cases, led to power. So long as that power was not over her, then she was satisfied.
When she had finished a good portion of her breakfast, her stomach no longer growling, she eyed her mate across the small table, picking apart her last piece of toast as she did so. She said nothing, simply watched him eat, that hint of a smile on her face once again.
